  1. I just read through the Strong City thread... Wow
  2. Looks like someone decapitated Morphs wee mate Chas, laid his head on some firewood and shat on his face. Chas
  3. The most common birthday in the United States is Oct. 5. That’s nine months after New Year’s Eve.
  4. A colony of harvester ants contains the same total number of neurons as a human brain.
  5. Aye I've never had a beef burger with mayo. Do you have any enemies in burger king? Did they 'soggy biscuit' your burger?
  6. Lush? That's a chick word! If I really need a greasy burger, burger king does the bizniz.
  7. Yeah usually if they can do all that they are at a big club already, pretty much a cheap Yaya Toure would be what we need. Etuhu is decent but prone to do a no show.
  8. I'd like to see a player simliar to Etuhu, someone who's job is to sit back and break shit up, then pass without any fuss. Also helps if they are a beast.
  9. He did an interview a while back (with Oprah of all people) and he said he basically doesn't like speechmarks and quotations. He says they clutter up the page and take away from the flow of the prose he writes. In Blood Meridian you can see what he's aiming for, there are a lot of long passages without breaks which are meant to add to the desolate western feel. I watched a lecture about this book also, because I'm a bit of a geek, and it suggests pretty much the same. Basically it's something that annoys him and he feels he works better without the 'cluttter'.
  10. In that case we should scout any players that are nearing the end of their contracts, then offer them more money when their current club least expects it
  11. The problem is, when journalists try to go against the grain they are usually drowned out by the big angry media barons who believe they have a right influence how people think and feel. And they in turn have their egos fed by greedy politicians who take the barons money in order to better their own profile/party and in return give them favours. There is a political class in Britain and in recent years the media darlings have jumped into bed with the politicians and become part of it. Too busy playing silly buggers with eachother to give a monkeys what is the best for the people. Unfortunately a lot of people are stupid and weak minded enough to buy into what these corrupt bastards say, which only feeds the beast.
  12. Brilliant book, but grim. He uses quite a bit of spanish in it though, so get google translate at the ready.
  13. They are doing their very best to sell this as an optimistic new dawn for politics in britain.
  14. How the **** did that slimey little homophobic word removed Theresa May get Home Secretary. ****' old hag. Hope she falls into an oncoming train.
  15. Davies could get more than that, I don't want him to go though.
  16. One of the Milibands. They'll pick someone safe and central though, someone who is favourable to the Unions and someone who won't scare away the wavering centre-right voters they picked up during the 90s, if they haven't buggered off already that is! Interesting article in the Times, seems set up for a Miliband race.
  17. Well yes, I don't buy into the capitalist system and am far from thrilled about the situation we find ourselves in, but I understand that our good will alone can't suddenly make the world a better place. Sometimes you need to play the game at hand instead of sitting back and wondering how you'd rather play a different one. And in that vain I understand that despite peoples feelings and despite their livelihoods, in order to create a better future for the younger generation (which, essentially, I'm part of) we need to sort this shit out and if that means being ruthless and restructuring our economy then I'm afraid that's what we have to do. I would love to just wave the magic wand and have a utopian society were we are all equal, got to work happy in knowing we are bettering ourselves and our peers. I'd love not to have this selfish system we have in place now. But that's what we have and we have to be rational.
  18. in the long term it's for the best though, more small buisnesses and more organic growth through the private sector would make for a more versatile and stable economy. depending so much on the public sector and its endless bureauracy to provide jobs isn't healthy and will only end in tears.
  19. **** is he doing with a plastic container. lighter, deoderant. flame to the **** face.
  20. They've agreed to push through the cap on non-eu immigration. Maybe Dave finally told them the bloody number!
