  1. No offence mate but are you deluded or what, we do not have a very good squad far from it, we have one left back, a striker who cant score, a midfield back up of Salifou and Osbourne, a back up right back with no Premier League experince in Lichaj, Agbonlahor & Carew are never gonna score the goals to get us anywhere, Downing is average, we are severley weaker without Milner in our midfield and just content season after season to have the smallest squad, why we cant see the need for a decent striker is beyond me, as a club we have made more of an effort to showcase the new kit than sign players and even then they **** up the release of it so it comes out a month after the season starts, truly shocking for a club of this size, I will donate £10 to VT (sorry Im skint) if we finish above the blues this year.... I'll just reply to one bit... Agbonlahor 13 in 33 Prem games last year. Carew 10 in 30 Prem games last year. Utter bollocks there. Posting for effect, YAWN. So good mate that last season in the Premier League CENTRAL MIDFIELDER Frank Lampard scored 22 goals in 36 games which betters both of our strikers records, as for posting for effect, well Im a grown man and dont need a reaction from a website to make me feel good, just stating facts... I think this is a fairly silly comparison to make, Chelsea scored 103 goals last season compared to 52 which we scored so obviously Lampard's records is bound to be damn good. Yes, I would love to have another striker but 1) You'd have to replace Gabby for this 'new striker' in a 4-5-1 formation, and I doubt we can attract someone experienced who will more than 1 in 3 2) For the midfielders we have and the way we play, a 4-4-2 doesn't work IMO 3) Gabby's strike rate last season wasnt that bad! Hopefully he can notch up the goals this season Again, I would have loved another striker... it hasnt happened, but is the team weaker than you thing, I dont think so. I'd love to see Ireland up there with Gabby and help out with the goals, the same goes to Young. The quoting order is **** up arghh I never said that, it was Leafy
  2. You use the top scoring Premiership midfielder as an example, a world class player playing for the team who won the league. Drogba, Rooney, Bent and Tevez were the only players to score more then him. We were also one of a few teams to have two players scoring ten goals or more in the league. The problem exists in midfield, as they quite simply don't chip in with enough goals. The strikers have always produced a good amount of goals despite the chances they miss.
  3. Well of course, that's always going to happen when you lose your manager a week before the season and your best player a week later. We can all interpret in our own way who is to blame for this, just like we can interpret as to why there were no signings incoming before MON left. I don't see anyone denying we have got weaker though?
  4. So? The problem being stated is depth. We had the same depth last year, and the same amount now with an improved Albrighton. I'm not denying we need more midfielders but it's been a case for over a year now.
  5. We have as many midfielders as we did last year, so I don't know why people are moaning now... We've just replaced Milner with Ireland.

  7. Beausajour is a solid hard working player, who won't do anything special. He is a typical SHA player right now. Not sure if he will do well or not, watched him a lot for Chile over past two years and he's never really done anything that has stood out. Hleb is a good signing for them unfortunatley, if he rediscovers his Arsenal and Stuttgart (1st spell) form. However that is a massive IF. So other then that they've signed Jiranek who has always looked like a complete liability to me for Spartak, Zigic the donkey and Foster who is no-where near the level of Hart. So they haven't really improved. Just got a few foreign names who went to them for a reason...
  8. Hleb would be good if he rediscovers his form, but he seems to have lost his way a bit. Also doesn't fit their system. Beausejour is a hard working midfielder, nothing more, a player who fits in with the rest of their squad. How people say signings like this are making them catch us up I don't know. Zigic for one will make them worse, whilst Foster is injury prone and is no-where near the level of Hart. Just a good shot stopper, Hart was the full package nearly.
  9. What evidence do you have of this mate? How do you know that MON didn't want Ireland? Good mates with Martins nephew. He doesn't know much else. I told people this on the day, but was dismissed. Now people continue to miss the obvious in front of them and have justified the signing of ireland without a moments honest thought. Hows Brads move to Fulham going on? I forgot about that! I'm sure we were guaranteed he'd be gone too! I'll make the excuse for Jas already, it's all because the Schwarzer deal fell through :!:
  10. Yes because everything is that simple. Forget the whole think before you act, it's irrelevant. :notsure: You don't just take the managerial job because it's Aston Villa ffs. That's exactly why you take the job. What did he have decide over the course of 3 weeks? Whether he liked the conditions.. if only all managers got a trial period eh. Whether he likes the limelight and the impact on his life and so forth? Please, if these things are even considered it displays he isn't the man for it. The only real thing he would have had to think about, is if taking it would mean he'll be out of a job completely if things go south which they undoubtedly will. It seems as though he's gambled his welfare on an opportunity he probably won't get again though. Sound like someone you want in charge? You speak as a person who knows nothing about football management. Honestly I think you should look into how much time they spend, how it can effect their health etc... How does taking time to decide whether it is best for him, his family AND the club mean he isn't the man for the job.
  11. Yes because everything is that simple. Forget the whole think before you act, it's irrelevant. :notsure: You don't just take the managerial job because it's Aston Villa ffs. Of course you do!! Aston Villa FC are 'supposed' to be one of the biggest clubs in the world. Despite the obviois financial restraints, it still amazes me that many more managers haven't thrown their hat in the ring to manage such a big club. For me, much as I like KM, he just doesnt come accross as passionate enough. To dither around deciding if it is the 'right move' for him after being at the club for the last 16 years shocks me. He has sat in the shadows so to speak watching, and probably disagreeing with previous managers tactics, transfers and training and MUST have thought, 'I could do better, I would LOVE to have a go at that job'.. Shame he doesnt show it in his interviews.. 1) Football management changes you life. Less time with family and friends. 2) Football management can cause major health issues. 3) If he fails he could leave the club he's served for so long altogether. 4) He needed to know if he was capable. 5) He needed to know if he'd enjoy it. How how you not considered these points? There are many more too. You don't just take or do something without thinking about it first. In any situation that changes your life you would spend a good time thinking about it first if you had any SENSE.

  13. I don't like Van Aanholt from what I seen of him at Coventry and Newcastle, seemed more capable going forward then defending. However if true it's no loss as we really need some backup for Warnock.
  14. You obviously don't understand what jumping the gun means... Silly post.
  15. Just to make a point, obviously doesn't take into the fact his touch and the range of passing (not that it matters for his positions) but... 2010/2011 West Ham: 2 out of 2.(Sub) Won Newcastle: 8 out of 8. (Sub) Lost Everton: 17 out of 20. Won 2009/2010 Liverpool: 20 out of 22. Won Fulham: 21 out of 25. Won Birmingham: 25 out of 29. Won Bolton: 21 out of 22. Won Tottenham: 15 out of 17. Drawn Liverpool: 13 out of 15. Lost They're his Premiership starts in since the start of last season, adding the passes up it equals: 142 out of 160. Which is very impressive for a player who supposedly loses the ball so often. I won't go into the season before, but looking at it generally he was a lot more wasteful then, due to the fact he tried to be more expansive. Since then he has played the more safer approach which he is required to do and he now barely loses it.
  16. Really hard decision. I honestly can't choose between Collins/Dunne and Cuellar/Dunne. Both partnerships are excellent, although have their limitations. I think Cuellar is more consistent then Collins, who has the odd mistake in him, but Collins is a beast in the air and has excellent distribution. At the moment I'd edge towards Collins though.
  17. I am a fan, for the role he plays he is solid. Although sometimes he needs to stay a bit more disciplined rather then think he's a box to box midfielder. He's a player I think we should keep for now, but if we were to lose him next summer there are plenty of players who can replace him.
  18. He said we made an enquiry, I have followed him for ages now. As someone else has mentioned he doesn't spout crap for attention. When he does say something it is usually very reliable and not someone who says a lot of things in the hope something comes true. This isn't the average in the know, the guy is very well connected to various people in the game.
  19. Coyle McLeish Allardyce McCarthy Pulis Would be the other experienced Premiership managers in jobs.
  20. Tell me about it! You would think the people making the bets would understand how they work!
  21. Has the reputation as one of the best scouts, has a lot of contacts and now works in the media too. One team he scouted for was Hannover, he's Norwegian but based in London. Marcotti said Owen Coyle? to him. Could be a good shout, plays good football, been successful at Burnley and started well at Bolton. Gets the best out of players and has a decent scouting network. Also young meaning he could build something here.
  22. He spent 15m on Diao and Diouf, he earns a no just for that He's also old, had health issues in the past and seems comfortable in his new role for France. Not a chance imo.
