  1. I just read a report saying my neighbourhood in Istanbul is the most likely to recieve 100% damage in the event of an Earthquake.
  2. haha I didnt like the way 'plumped for' sounded....small computer error hath occured.
  3. Thankyou for the team suggestions. I've gone for Union Berlin....on FM.
  4. 2 more and i've got a shortlist!
  5. Somebody name me a semi-obscure European team.
  6. On their site!?! I never knew such a thing existed.
  7. Tried to, people won't post to Istanbul. Amazon is too expensive for effectively 1-2 months until the new one comes out. Does anyone know of a *nudge nudge wink wink* way of getting it?
  8. Anyone got a copy of FM10 (pc) they want to send to me in Istanbul. I have a month of from work...and short of sight seeing in Istanbul for 6 hours a day I'm getting bloody bored. Theres only so much tea and so many tea gardens I can enjoy.
  9. Might be worth a gamble on Amazon. It's got Burt in it.....
  10. Yes, a TEFL is a minimum. I have a CELTA, which without sounding like an arse, is much better and a better qualification. It cost me £1200 for the course at the Brasshouse. I stand firm on the American English thing. It's not necessary IMO. It's a real bug bear of mine. Just teach normal English and if any questions are thrown up explain the difference and offer the 2 choices.
  11. Ah, OK. It's just that you mentioned "mental WWII stories", and Castle Keep meets that description. Have you seen the film Mooney? If so, anygood?
  12. I am an ELT in Istanbul. I don't speak Turkish its just a matter of immersing them in the language as quickly as possible. Also, most (reputable) language schools have a brief test to get into the school. So a minor grasp of the language is needed. I work in a private school so the teaching is a bit more difficult due to the kids not actually wanting to learn (remember French at school?) i get 2500 YTL a month and can live on 800 of that VERY comfortably. I mean, I eat out 3 or 4 times a week with the missus so in actual fact i'm paying for 8 meals. Transport is simple and cheap. Whilst the two countries are not comparible. The correlation between salary and the cost of living is relatively similar. I'm saving for my wedding and planning to buy property on a few of the islands in around 10-15 years time. Enjoy yourself out there. Planning for lessons is a bugger to start off with but then you get quite good at improvisation and using old material. Any other questions let me know. Enjoy yourself!
  13. Definitely where I grew up! My priest was a regular pilferer of the collection tin.
  14. I seem to remember a deathly silence. The headteacher give an embarassed cough and things moved quickly on. I think the look on the fella's face sort of proved it wasn't him. He wanted the world to cave in right there and then. Gladly nothing ever came of it.
  15. You rascal! Although this reminded me of something I did back at school. I edited a piece a friend of mine was reading out in assembly. I would have thought he'd give it a quick read through and we could laugh about it, but no, the bell-end only goes and reads it out to 1200 people. It went something along the lines of 'The catholic church believe in the sanctity of marriage, so no masturbation before or after tea time and also sex is prohibited before marriage unless peformed in front of local parish priests'
  16. sin im on da tv. We shud buy im n forlan. Or O'neill out.
  17. Seriously, I doubt you can buy a pair of sunglasses that won't damage your eyes in that price range. With sunglasses cheap is not good, cheap can actually be quite dangerous Sometimes the price is justified in sunglasses. A friend of mine suffered from horrible migraines. Went for a CT scan to dismiss the possibility of a tumor. For months for about an hour a day he got severe migraines until he sought a second opinion from another doctor. He told him to buy some good quality sunglasses £100 or more. Migraines disappeared. Not sure how or why it worked but you can't underestimate a quality pair of sunglasses. He bought some Oakleys btw, he swears by them.
  18. Well done Chindie, top effort. Do you know a kid called Tom Allen also completed his politics degree at Aber this year. Yeah...use the post results jubilation and book a flight somewhere. (outside England!)
  19. Here in Istanbul they have something called an 'Islak Hamburger': It's basically a burger smothered in bbq sauce and its around 70p Complete crap but you've got to have more than 2 in one sitting they are very moreish...
  20. Özil will not come to the villa after the world cup he is having, although I assume your tongue in cheek. I would have Kediera however. If possible I would bust a gut to nab Lahm....but its the villa.
  21. Why were you asking a very tiny Turkish man for a blow job?! Don't knock it till you've tried it. Is that a confession Mike? :winkold: Well given that I'm not knocking it, I obviously haven't tried it! :? Ive never tried it, and can safely say i never will. Each to their own mate, we can still be pals A clever little edit there!!! I was of course refering to her pimp. Who was a tiny little turkish man. I was a younger man then..... I have a beautiful girlfriend now...blah blah blah
  22. Got Drunk. Asked for BJ. She said I had to wear a Johnny. I said ı'd pay extra for not having one. A very tiny Turkish man drew a knife on me. (not in ink)
