He has turned down quite a few jobs tbf to him. Think the reason he doesnt get the big jobs is very simply his personality, his unpredictability, big clubs dont like that. And yet he is still in the Spanish press right now considered a contender for the Madrid job.

And he quit because after his 4th placed finish, hoping to build, he found 5 of his key players sold, 23 goal Andre Pierre Gignac, 11 goal Andre Ayew, Florian Thauvin, Gianielli Imbula and Dmitri Payet (who wasnt keen anyways and subsequently forced a move back there). Thats like you not having Jonathan Kodjia, Robert Snodgrass, Jack Grealish, Albert Adomah and Connor Hourihane last season, and replacing them on the cheap. Lille i admit it doesnt look good, but delving deeper its important to remember the style Bielsa plays (like Pep) requires specific players, any old player no matter how good wont do, they have to have the right skillset and mentality, at Lille Bielsa was at odds with Luis Campos, they clashed over transfers. Interestingly the 3 or 4 Bielsa was allowed to sign did pretty well in the end, but the majority of players wernt his choice. If the players signed dont match the style the manager plays then it wont work.

Someone else said he didnt play the kids, i don't know if he does or not. But how many academy kids has he blooded? 25 appearances for Davis, is he the only one whose been a semi regular since bruce arrived? If you do need to tighten the purse string will Bruce use the academy?

Wondered what happened to Davis and Green when i was watching the Playoffs, they were nowhere to be seen. If Davis is the tall striker, i liked him, thought he was a decent player whenever i saw him. Ironic he seems reluctant to play the kids, his last season at Scumchester was the infamous "you cant win anything with kids" season.

Bielsa walked out on Lille, Lazio and Marseille over transfers apparantly. Lazio promised to sign certain players, they didnt, so he left. Lille signed tons of players he didnt want. Marseille sold key players (same as Bilbao i think) against his wishes. His record at Marseille was 4th with 50% win percentage so not to bad. I cant reply to people individually atm sorry, Internet issues. Phil Hay said an hour ago to someone "he wasnt aware of any approach to Bruce, although wouldn't rule him out if Bielsa falls through". Apparently we have 2 options apart from Bielsa, one foreign (rumoured to be either Almeyda or Inzaghi) and one British ( no clue who but seems whoever was mentioned to Phil it wasnt Bruce). I feel for you fans since we have been through what it looks like you may have coming, firesales, money issues, key players going for a pittance etc. Do the prices we value our English players at reflect the inflated opinion as a nation we have of there talent? By that i mean after a couple of games player X is going to be the next big thing, loads of them through the years, and most of them drift away or never get close to the hype. Ross Barkley, Ravel Morrison, Seth Johnson etc etc, all hyped up to the max when young, big money values, none of them got close to being world class.
