  1. Then why do so many of you want Bruce out now before he has bedded in all these new signings? If its to early to have a little brag its to early to talk about sackings?
  2. Fair point A good manager would probably get more out of Grealish, make him a better player. Responsibility on all sides, but buck stops with Bruce
  3. Perhaps. Or take last seasons 13th placed side who were bottom six of the form table from January, add a left back. End up top with the 2nd best defence and attack. Beat Norwich at Carrow Road 3-0 which wasnt matched or bettered last season. Take 4 points off two of last seasons playoff semi finalists. Beat pre season money bag favourites. Shut out a team of giants with a team of midgets. And play the best football in the league.
  4. I do wonder what Bielsa could do with your squad.
  5. Form wise can you blame me?? I'm sure they are better then they seem but while Bruce has to take lots of responsibility for whats gone on so do the players imo. Jack Grealish is meant to be this £30mil player, if thats the case he should be grabbing games by the balls imo. Regardless of Bruce that much talent should be doing more, cant be entirely his fault.
  6. True. Bruce should be doing better with the players he has. although not sure how many of yours id want tbh. Chester. Grealish, bench player, know you guys rate him lots but i wouldn't drop any of our 3 flair people. Hourihane maybe but again wouldn't drop Klich for him. Not to bothered about Bolasie, maybe El Ghazi. Largely bench players imo for us atm.
  7. That must be frustrating for you mate. Hard enough to keep kids interested if your not a Prem team without them being frustrated by stuff on the pitch. Bruce obviously isnt clueless, but if he can see the problems why cant he fix them. Limited coach with an overhyped media profile imo.
  8. Does seem local media are reluctant to push managers, can understand that somewhat. They have to maintain a decent relationship with the club and such. Surprised national papers arent a bit more forceful? "Steve, how would you describe the style of play that you are aiming for". Its bot a difficult question.
  9. Think most clubs have some sort of common style. Us and Brentford as you say. Boro, keep it tight at the back, long balls forward, fight for second balls and try ans force as many set pieces as possible in the final 3rd. Millwall, keep it solid at the back, look for quick breaks mainly with long diagonal balls towards the front 2, try picking up the 2nd balls. Derbyare trying to replicate the old Jose Chelsea side that Lampard thrived under. Most teams have some sort of style. Very few stick to it all the time but most have 1 main way of playing imo. I'm surprised you dont try and copy Brentford tbh, you have that sort of player.
  10. Thats ridiculous. I doubt any manager in the championship has had more funds over the last 2 years and its still going on now. How would he cope if and when you do havw to tighten your belts? If you dont go up at some point you will need to cut back on spending, billionaire owners or not FFP will bite eventually.
  11. Makes you wonder what goes on in training lol. They must do something. Unless its all kicking and heading stuff.
  12. Jose Mourinho did that the other week. Sign of a man who knows the pressure is building.
  13. Blind faith? We had some who still wanted Paul Heckingbottom to be given time. . . . .
  14. Every manager should have a discernable style imho. Even Mick McCarthy had a style. "Kick it, kick it harder, good now kick him". Does Bruce never get asked by the media what the style is?
  15. Thats shocking to me. As a keen football fan i can describe the style of many of our Championship rivals, not because I'm a smartarse or know more then other people. But because i have eyes, i have seen them play. If you as a Season ticket holder who presumably watches Villa most weeks cant describe your own style then thats poor on Bruces part.
  16. If after 2 years you are still mainly reliant on individuals then thats pretty sad to. Every club is somewhat reliant on a few players with the X factor but it shouldn't be your main source imo. What happens if Grealish is having a bad day? Clubs with less star names make it work, Cardiff got promoted ffs lol.
  17. From the outside looking in Bruce has done a very poor job. So much money and backing, 2 years nearly, lots of transfer windows and at the end of it he has an ageing right back at left back, a young cb at right back and an ageing cm at cb. Short term expensive signings like Terry, Samba, Snodgrass, no forward planning. If it doesnt work just buy more players, Bolasie, El Ghazi, Abraham etc. Again i dont know your FFP situation but i imagine those 3 loans arent cheap either, are you going all or nothing again? But, imo the most damming criticism of Steve Bruce is after 2 years i cant describe your playing style. We all know what to expect from Sheffield United, Brentford, us, Boro, even Derby after just a few games under Lampard. But what sort of side are you? How would you describe your style? Are you a stay solid at the back try to break quickly moving through the 3rds with slick passing, or long direct balls. Are you a high pressing, work the ball from the back side. Are you a long ball concentrate on winning the 2nd balls team. I really don't know, and after 2 years that shouldn't be a question, it should be clear imo.
  18. Looks like you are signing him lol. Im devastated, ok I'm not because ive never head of him. Looks decent though, fair play.
  19. Never heard of him. Had a quick google, did pretty well at Lille for Bielsa, was a regular. Played less after Bielsa left Speaks kindly about Bielsa, says he made him fitter and created a "family atmosphere" We need a winger, bout time Mendes did us a favour.
  20. Love Messi. A joy to watch . Think Ronnie has gone to Italy to win titles, Messi has him beat on titles and Ronnie knows time is running out. Messi for me, Ronaldo is an incredible athlete, Messi is the most technically gifted player of my lifetime. Messi makes watching Football exciting, thats what matters in the end.
  21. He said the score was harsh on Derby and wasnt entirely happy with the Stoke performance. Fans were delighted and dont think the score was harsh at all. But thats his mentality as you say, always wants more, better, perfection.
  22. Lot of talk now about us for promotion. Very premature. But the way we took 2 of the pre season favourites apart was very impressive at any stage of the season, both could have been 6 instead of 3 and 4. Goals we conceded were poor, penalty shouldn't have been allowed to happen and free kicks shouldn't sail over a goalies head when he doesnt have to move. Still the same team minus Douglas from last season, got Bamford, Harrison, Baker, Jansson who havent had a start. Meant to be looking at 2 loans, Tomas Kalas and Mo Besic been mentioned. Concerned about the "Bielsa burnout" but people said the same about Cardiff and Wolves "it wont last" . But of luck like wolves had last season, not losing key players for long like Coady, Neves, Jota, Boly, Douglas, Doherty if we dont lose Klich, Saiz, Jansson, Alioski, Douglas, Ayling etc then who knows.
  23. Thanks very much for that. Didnt almost all of that (id read somewhere it was different to the one we failed). Lot of what you say makes sense, if i could like i would lol. It does seem a very complicated system, a little overly complicated and if you have a very good financial adviser you could probably squirm and fiddle your way round it in all but the most extreme cases. Dont know much about your previous owner, your new owners seem a different level of businessmen, one seems to have a degree in Economics the other in Business and finance, couldnt ask for better in your situation. Then there is obviously the funding they have, but the contacts to, the people they both must know, forensic accountants, financial advisers, top lawyers etc, all will help in the FFP stakes. Think the system needs looking at imo, its overly complicated go back to the old system, black and white, there it is. This one just confuses people and doesnt really seem to work imo. Thanks for the excellent response, least i kind of understand it better now. (id tried reading Mike's stuff to, far to clever for me)
  24. I assume as you say Grealish will go. Watched the game last night when he went off, something about his reaction, didnt look like the usual reaction, bit more emotional. Maybe thats all that it takes, that fills whatever gap there is, the owners fixed the original problem and because they are new as you say they will get some leeway.
  25. Thanks for the response. Just find it very confusing, frustrating i suppose given what we went through. I read you had to find £40mil to keep away from danger. Either Grealish is off or as you say there is a loophole. Doesnt seem right if your new owners can just sweep in and plug a gap they didn't create. Derby similar, either they breaching or there not, if they are surely they cant spend until they are straight with Ffp or whats the point of it. Congratulations on the win though
