We are very good at the back. In an attacking sense we are a complete and utter one man team. We cannot create anything without Grealish, really poor.
-
Utterly awful going forward again. If we'd have lost Grealish in the summer we'd be down this season. Credit to Watkins who put in a great shift, but the rest of our attack is shocking.

He had the one save from Konsa, that was essentially straight at him. What else did he have to do except time waste on some awful crosses he caught? -

You're giving them too much credit. Every team in the league should be able to create more than one real opportunity against the club marooned at the bottom. And it's far from a one off. When did we last score more than one goal in a game? -

That's ridiculous. Ramsdale had one save, from a shot that was straight at him. This was the worst performance of the season, narrowly edging the garbage we saw against Brighton. -

Certainly in attacking terms we are a one man team. They've become complacent, knowing there's a good chance Grealish will bail them out. -

Completely awful performance. Just the same as vs Leicester, Brighton, Burnley, West Ham etc etc. When was the last time we scored more than one goal in a game? -
This. We fluked a couple of wins but really we are as bad as last season at the moment.
-
Cricket score incoming.

I can't explain what's happened to this team. We are as poor as last season. Depressing.

The RJW63 Official Jack Grealish Appreciation Thread

Extreme shin splints can lead to a stress fracture, we just have to hope that isn't what's happened. My worry is without Grealish there aren't any real outlets that can carry the ball, hold it, win a foul and take the pressure off. I expect we'll see far more panicking and long balls today. Hope I'm wrong. -
Anyone know when the last time was we did the double over Arsenal? Or indeed won 3 in a row against them? Mings, Cash, Targett, Martinez all excellent.
-
We've been poor for the last 5 games, this is just the worst performance of them all. We are struggling with a complete lack of depth, Smith has to take some blame for not using subs or trusting more of his players. Cannot believe how much we were outplayed by a team containing "J-Lingz"

4 losses out of the last 5....

DisappointIngs defeat, soft penalty but I think manure edged it overall. Watkins with an unusually poor game. We need better options off the bench - perhaps one extra attacker in Jan? -
Ratings & Reactions: Villa v Crystal Palace

Simply brilliant with ten men. AEG, Hause, Grealish, Targett, Watkins all excellent. We've really turned a corner. -
The game is on Saturday. With the goals we are conceding I can't see past a comfortable Wolves win, desperately hope I'm wrong.
-
It was going wide! Fabianski "saving it" was unnecessary.
-
Needs to be benched. Though from what I've seen in not sure El Ghazi or Traore would be a vast improvement in the short term. Plus Trezeguet actually protects his full back unlike those two.
-
What I see is an arrogant side without much to be arrogant about. Obviously we should have at least drawn today. But we only have ourselves to blame. Sloppy penalty misses, moaning and moaning about fouls, slow attacking and defending set pieces and hemerrohaging goals against weak teams. We've had some amazing results and excellent performances but weirdly I think this is hampering us, and we are slipping down the table. 0 points from Brighton, Leeds, West Ham and Southampton.
-
Our attack is great. Our defence is worse than last season.
-
How many saves did Ryan make? How many last ditch blocks by their defence? They let us have possession but we didn't do much with it. I've seen worse but today we were quite poor.
-
Poor throughout and deserved to lose. I thought it should've been a penalty but a draw would've flattered us. Not seen much of him but Traore looks poor, McGinn also. Once we have a couple of injuries our squad looks very threadbare. Disappointing against a team that will be toward the bottom of the table throughout Onto the next one.
-
Aside from the Liverpool game, our first 4 results flattered us. We were poor against a 10 man Sheff U, okay against a weak Fulham team and narrowly beat a Leicester side without their 5 best players. All of those sides had their chances too, and didn't take them. Southampton weren't really better than any of those, they were just more clinical. That being said, I think Arsenal is a winnable game. We need a bit of luck defensively and to be more intense and clinical up front. A draw would be a good result.

Ratings & Reactions: Villa v Southampton

Scoreline definitely flattered us. The idiocy was the free kicks we gave away against the team with the best set piece taker in the league. Our midfield, especially McGinn and Luiz, waa awful today. Completely lost the battle. I was pleased with the spirit shown in the last 30 minutes. We'll be down fighting in the bottom half this season.
