  1. I know Bunn is poor. But Nyland should never play for us again. It's not an exaggeration to say he's far worse than Enckleman, every match he gives the opposition 3-4 chances that Bunn would not.
  2. Second half was utterly appalling. QPR are likely to be down toward the relegation zone and we made them look like world beaters. It's so gutting that last year's top performers in Grealish and Chester are so awful. Chester is clearly suffering from not having a defence around him and obviously Nyland is terrible. Smith has his work cut out, at this rate to avoid us being sucked into a relegation battle.
  3. This second half is absolutely appalling. Dreadful, dreadful team. I hate to be the first person to mention how close we are to relegation. And a gaping chasm to even 6th place...
  4. McGinn's goal papers over gaping chasms. The problem is moments of individual brilliance are the only way a team of good players with no style, identity, tactics or vision will score. It was an incredible goal but a team that should be aiming for automatic promotion should never rely on them. Wednesday nearly scored three times before their inevitable second, truly truly awful defensively once again. Bruce out now.
  5. Very, very poor. McGinn looked good. Keeper another Enckleman. 10 man Ipswich looked more likely to score than us. Desperately need a winger, CB and another GK. Time to milk the loans.
  6. As much as this has already been stated, it will be another huge re-building job if we don't go up. Presumably Bruce would leave, and without a shadow of a doubt Johnstone, Snodgrass, Terry and possibly Grabban would all go. Being near his peak, I imagine we'd also lose Chester to a Premier League team, and maybe Adomah and Kodjia too. Grealish would probably consider moving on. That would leave us manager-less, no parachute payments, a threadbare squad devoid of quality, and have too many players in their mid-30s like Jedinak, Whelan and Hutton. We've botched our chance to go up automatically and we have to win in the play-offs. Once we claim 3 more points and are assured of getting into the play-offs, rest all the key men. I think we'd all much rather Fulham go up and we might get Cardiff. Millwall or Derby will be extremely tough games too. I'm not confident but then I'm a natural pessimist. We shall see.
  7. Finished the game with 4 strikers on the pitch. Utterly shapeless and insipid. A kid who hasn't scored a professional goal, an oafish kid who has scored 2 in about 20, a striker who's scored at a rate of 1 in 7 and a poacher who doesn't offer anything else. This may have been a different season had Kodjia been fit. We're 8 points ahead of Bristol City in 7th who have hit a purple patch. Honestly with 8 games remaining and defeats against two of the worst sites in the league, we may just miss out on the play offs. If we hang in there, a team like Fulham will dismantle us. Future is looking grim.
  8. I think the booing of Baker was a bit more prominent after his filthy tackle on Grealish. But yeah that made me cringe, why do fans do that. As for the football, absolutely superb. No player put a foot wrong. Even Bjarnason looked dangerous!
  9. Poor performance, Bolton cleared one of the line and a lucky one off Samba. Ref was awful and now no LBs in the squad for 3 games. But we won - we'll have to be 100 times better if we want anything against Wolves.
  10. That's as bad of a performance as we saw all last season. Made Norwich look incredible, whereas in fact they've lost 6 out of their last 8. No chances created, should've lost by a load more. We have serious problems, and we aren't going to get anywhere near the play offs so may as well forget about that.
  11. Hard to judge with everything that's going on, but here are my thoughts Elphick - 3 - Being a leader simply not enough. Mistake after mistake, no leadership in a poor backline, admittedly not helped by the lack of midfield Gollini - 6 - Think he's done well overall. A few more games and I think he'll get even better, a big step up on Guzan despite the errors, a couple of which were quite unlucky. Tshibola - 5 - Can't give him a higher rating until he can prove he stays fit. I really do doubt he'll ever give us 30+ games a season McCormack - 6 - Our cleverest attacking player, not the quickest but has a brain and finds space. Needs to stay fit Chester - 7 - Probably the best so far, a good all round player, would look even better if he was next to competent full backs Jedinak - 2 - Not good enough even at this level, legs gone, was he ever all that? Kodjia - 7 - Really good and I think will get better with a new manager. Adomah - 4- has looked a headless chicken but does need longer.
  12. Shocking, no Tish or McCormack probably our two best players, Bunn, Hutton, Westy all shocking. Very few few will be supporting RDM after this. Preston unlucky, it should be 6-0 already.
  13. Bacuna suspended...oh dear. I'd have to reluctantly go for Richards, but pretty terrible choices either way. Gollini Richards Chester Elphick Amavi Tshibola Jedinak Ayew McCormack Kodjia Gestede
  14. I reckon from the rumours going around if Di Matteo is sacked, it will be Bruce coming in. His record in this league is excellent and even in the Prem it is decent, I would happily take him. What we need is a proven manager, someone who has done it over many years. Look at Bilic, he was looking like a real gem at the end of last season, yet he could end up sacked before Xmas with his reputation in tatters.
  15. Hi all, Bit of background on myself. I'm the classic long time viewer, first time poster, I come to VT for all sorts of things, links to games, impressions, seeing if people ranting about our inept performances are thinking the same thing as me! Until recently I've been using a forum that emerged from BBC 606 which was closed due to cutbacks, but I've got fed up of Bluenosers and others coming and trolling us (not even in a witty or creative way, and they don't even post on their own board). So here I am, and looking forward to contributing if you'll have me! I'm 25 and based in the M4 corridor area, but am moving very soon to Washington DC so hoping to find a bit of info out about Villa's supporters groups out there, and how to watch matches (I imagine this is a lot more difficult now we're in the Championship). I'm sad to say I won't be able to get to VP before I go, but the way things are at the moment that might not be a bad thing. I'm frustrated with our start, I don't believe there's much more Dr Tony could have done really, but I do think we will be able to turn this around. I think Jordan Lyden could be a temporary solution to our problems in the middle. Anyhow, hi and welcome, and I look forward to contributing soon.
