  1. Can people please vote based on the performances in a villa shirt. Forget Rangers, Thats scottish football. For me, he is utter rubbish, and i mean that. Over the years ive seen some good centre halves play for villa, Mcgrath, Mellberg, Laursen, Southgate to name but a few. But to see Davies and Cuellar start on the opening day of the season.....Scary.
  2. Fair comment. Im just basing my opinion and vote on what ive seen of him in a villa shirt. And he has been beyond poor.
  3. Just wanted to gage peoples thoughts on him. I think we can all see Davies is a very poor footballer so what are your thoughts on his partner. Im starting this thread on the back of one of the posts that was directed at me in the Cuellar + Davies thread by 'Carewseyebrowdesigner' 'You evident lack of football knowledge is laughable. Cuellar is a good player. Infact, everyone with a **** half a brain knows he is a good player.' So, what do you think? Can a player who cant kick a ball properly be good for us this season?
  4. I was at the game today. If they would have won 6-1 it would have been one of the harshest scorelines ever to happen. So I really am not sure what on earth you're on about. Stop with the whole "you should start going to matches" shite as well, many people are unable to. I wouldnt go as far as 1-6...but we could´ve lost 0-4 with an ease. We were lucky to get away with 0-2 today. Lucky to get away with 0-2? Surely you lot who keep saying 'coulda' 'woulda' and 'shoulda', aren't all blind? Or did you forget the parts of the match where Kirkland kept Wigan in the game? Saving Young's freekick, and two chances from Milner that he saved. Then of course a free header from Cuellar and one from Sidwell. By my calculations we COULDA won 5-4, we shoulda won 5-0, but no, we lost 0-2. Such is football. As long as we're keeping tallies of chances, let's get it right. 'The parts of the match where Kirkland kept Wigan in the game'. You must have watched a different game. This is how i saw it. A very very poor villa team, with a woeful ability to defend and pass the ball, lost to a well organised mid table team who exploited every one of our weaknessess. Now whether you want to admit it or not, we got played off the park (at home) to a mid table side. We didnt just get beat, we got destroyed, and i mean that. There wasnt one positive to come from todays game. And at no point did Villa look like scoring.
  5. Why do we have to put a right midfielder, one who played well for england in midweek, at right back? Why are we in a position at the end of a game, yet again, where we are playing players out of position? Why do people on here think this is a good thing? Im just saying I would have preffered to have kept players in there rightful positions. Most managers have signed enough players in each position to accomodate substituions. MON cant seem to make a sub without ending up with a woefully unbalanced side. I just cant see the benefit of having James Milner at RB when we are chasing the game at home to Wigan. Sorry, I must be missing something.
  6. General, We need to buy about 5 players. This will cost about 30/40m. If you buy the right ones. My advice to you, My advice to Randy. DONT give this money to MON. Stick it out, invest it elsewhere, do whatever, but this man will waste Randy's money. Upthevilla.
  7. I'm not sure about that. They hit the post. So the shot was not on target, how this is deemed as something that 'should have been a goal' really confuses me. Milner (I believe it was Milner?) cleared it off the line, that's what his job is in a corner situation, he did his job. I agree that the Friedel save should have been a goal, a goalkeeper shouldn't really have a chance to save a one on one. If you can claim these as great chances, what about Sidwells free header from 6 yards? The great save from Kirkland from Youngs free-kick? The great diving block from Youngs effort late on? We had a few damn good chances ourselves. It's just that because we've lost and played poorly, some will try and make it sound worse than it is. Not necessarily you, I'm just saying in general. I personally feel it was about fair. A touch of brilliance gave them the lead, we both were denied by a very good save and had great last ditch efforts to deny us. 2-0 was fair. Great stuff. Glad thats sorted then. Hopefully we will only lose 1-0 to fulham.
  8. I was at the game today. If they would have won 6-1 it would have been one of the harshest scorelines ever to happen. So I really am not sure what on earth you're on about. Stop with the whole "you should start going to matches" shite as well, many people are unable to. To be fair, Your right. Wigan didnt deserve to concede today.
  9. Well that's true, and is in itself worthy of applause, when 90% of posters on here don't even make an attempt at making their posts readable. I just wish I could agree with a single thing you say from time to time! Noone agrees with anything he has to say. He lives in Cloud cuckoo land where Cuellar is better than Vidic and Davies better than Ferdinand. And as for the scoreline, I stand by what i say. We got off lightly today against WIGAN.
  10. Post on poster much? I'd have thought you'd be more careful with a yellow card against your name. My posts are, in the main, well put together. The spelling is passable, the prose is readable, the capitalisation in the appropriate places. Holding a different opinion to you doesn't mean the "posts suck" as you so eloquently put it. And, thank you for your interest, but I was at the game today. Sitting in my new seat in the North Stand. I saw both of Wigan's goals in all their technicolour glory. We were poor and Wigan played well, but 6-1? Whatever you say, whatever you say "mate". Yes, 6-1. They hit the post, had one cleared off the line, should have scored a one on one, had a shot go close in the second half. This is just a few of their glaring chances. Our Defence was powerless to stop them though, they were to busy tackling themselves and trying to kick the ball straight. But individually they're great....(In the voice of that tiger who does that cereal)...
  11. You are referring, of course, to the same old people posting the same old stuff they've been dragging through every thread for months. Like I said on another thread to you: for supporters of teams outside the top four there are going to be more days like this than we like. So the doomsayers will be right from time to time. Enjoy your MON out threads and the 30 odd sheep that vote 'out', I predict a good 20 of those people would change their vote the next time we win a game. I agree we need a central midfielder and a central defender. If anything todays display will have gone a long way to ensuring we have them in this window and not in January. We can't wait that long. But I fully expect us to use the available time this window because the type of player MON is talking about/interested in is in great demand. We lost a game, and we played very poorly. I'm as unhappy as the next Villa fan, but I have confidence that the manager will sort it out. Sorry you don't, but those are the breaks. You have blind, blind faith my friend. Our manager hasnt sorted it out in the past, and he wont again this time. I wish i had your views on the villa as i certainly wouldnt go to bed wondering how i watched the worst villa performance in years with a defence that is bordering on a laughing stock. I feel as low now as i did when we lost to Doncaster. There wasnt one positive to come out of todays game, not one. Not only Is our manager terrible in the transfer market, he is woefully inept tactically. putting milner to right back in the second half. the list simply goes on. You need to wake up from your dream mate, better yet, start going to the matches.
  12. Your posts suck mate. If you went to the match today u would have realised that we could/should have lost 6-1. We lost to wigan, Everton lost to Arsenal. There is no shame in losing to a far superior team. we lost to wigan, a mid table shit side. And they didnt just beat us, they destroyed us. They outplayed us in every department. When will you just accept we have a poor side, I do. You live/post in denial my friend.
  13. NRC aint the answer mate, He cant actually do anything other than tackle. We are in a desperate position at the moment with our playing staff.
  14. I totally agree with 'Smalljob'. At least you aint foolishly optimistic and whatnot. We have a very poor side. And its MON's side. He is useless in the transfer market.
  15. Can I just say something, sorry it has to be said. Why are people arguing about how long it takes to get a pint and how good the 'steps' look. General, i couldnt care less how good the holte suite/pub looks as long as my team plays well. From what I saw today, i seriously doubt the abilities of our manager. all a manager has to do is buy good players because good players play well. I dont buy into all this motivational rubbish, its XI vs XI on the day and the team with the better players wins, and we have a manager who has signed some utter dross with your mate Randys money. And as For MON being this great motivator and leader, is that why our best young prospect (Gary Cahill) left us for Bolton, and why our best Striker stormed out of the club today on the news he'd been replaced by the utter embarrasment that is Emile Heskey. A player I believe is paid in the region of 60k a week? The team is a joke. Stop spending money on pubs, hospitality, mosaics, and steps and buy some decent players, or get a manager that can because i wont pay money to watch that lot any more this season.
  16. General, That was utterly Appaling. Utterly Utterly appaling.
  17. NRC and Sidwell look good in the middle together. What i like about these two is that they love to get on the ball and spray it about a bit. Sidwell always wants the ball, and NRC has that nack of being able to pick a pass from nowhere.
  18. Just confirms what ive been saying for 12 months. Reo-Coker and Sidwell are shite. You may all say its 'only pre-season', but it would be nice if one of these two clowns who class themselves as midfielders, actually steps up to the plate and starts taking responsibility. Sidwell was talking last week about how he is going to 'fill Barry's boots'..... Oh dear. We need a new central midfielder (aswell as other positions). I think Downing can do a job there when he is fit, but he wont be back until December at the earliest so we need to sign someone over the coming weeks. It worries me to think that MON may actually think NRC or Sidwell could replace Barry, they arent fit to clean his boots, let alone replace him. On a positive, Think Albrighton and Bannan and showing positive signs for the future. Hope they come good and give us more options. Worried.
  19. Your a hero General always will be in my eyes! champions league here we come!!
  20. Johnson is a very good player. Depends what school of management you are from. If you like your defenders to defend then luke young. But if you want your full backs to bomb on with that little bit of extra quality then Glen Johnson. Personally, id love Johnson at the villa, think the lad is a class act, seems like a top lad aswell. Saying that, luke young is a good player.
  21. General, Walking to the Holte yesterday, and cant help but notice (again) how amazing the mosaic is at the top of the holte end! I know its a long time since it was put up, but i still think its every bit as impressive each time i see it! What i did notice however was the steps up to the holte end. They look very dirty now general and seem to have got worse lately. Just a pointer! UptheVilla!
  22. General, Can i just say how appauling the players treated the supporters in prague on thursday night. Im sorry, but as soon as the final whistle went, they just shot down the dressing room, barry especially. I Think its appauling that they didnt even come and clap the villa fans at the end of the match. To spend all that money and not even be acknowledged is terrible. Hats off to craig gardner, the only one that did. I know it sounds petty, but its things like this that fans love. Even there players came across and clapped us. Just shows how footballers have lost touch with the common man nowadays in this country. I think the club sometimes forgets how much fans spend on going to matches like this, the least we could expect is a bit of gratitude. Rant over.
