Villa in astute bit of business that addresses a key area of weakness shocker.
Not so sure, Nathan Baker's beard isn't too bad really.

Amazing what a beard and a haircut can do. He looks like a contestant from University Challenge in this picture:

Has the umbrella man ever been identified does anyone know? In today's world he would be a twitter sensation.
Yes there was an Evening Mail article on him a couple of years ago:

thanks for that @Gary Thomas sounds like another strong leader we desperately need
Yes he sounds like the consummate professional and just what we need. The total opposite of some of the dick strokers that were responsible for last season.
Feeling really positive about this season once this deal's completed.

I love Deano's penalty run up (at about 1.15), it was about 40 yards, like one you would do in a school yard aged 8!
I've got goosebumps watching that. I'd forgotten what entertaining football looked like. What a team we had back then.

Selling Ashley Williams and then replacing him with Micah Richards is blunder of the century stuff.
Indeed. If true, then Swansea clearly have aspirations to be the next Portsmouth.

Was it '94 we played Sunderland? I personally don't remember the game, but my dad said they absolutely battered us and we won and their fans were saying our name is on the Cup after something like that.
Yes, we got absolutely battered and won 1-4. Mark Bosnich turned in one of the best goalkeeping displays I've seen that night.
What with Bosnich, McGrath and Dalian we had some geniuses from that era who it seems have battled their demons. Tragic that it's ended this way for him. Such a waste.

Tragic and shocking.
Was privileged to be at Selhurst Park for that goal and whenever I hear his name it's that goal that I think of. He provided some magic moments in my favourite era as a Villa supporter.
RIP Dalian.

Is this a cry for help? Anyone know where Kingman lives, just to pop round and check he's not 'left the gas on'?
This is serious. I've just checked his profile and his location is "on a bridge".

About the new midfielder.
If it's almost out of the door, he's got to be referring to the number 2.

Oh yes.
Excellent news.
Now we just need the Doctor to have a good number 2 and things are really looking up.

It's actually Mike.
His name is Michael John Jedinak. No idea where 'Mile' comes from.

Genuinely, I don't see much I difference between Clark and Chester. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong! (I actually don't think Clark is that bad...)
I can't really think of a centre back off the top of my head that I'd specifically want and who would come here. I'm slightly concerned this will mean we have a central pairing lacking in height, too. Is there really no-one better out there for £7/£8m though?
Admittedly it's only a very few games to judge them over but there was a big difference between them at Euro 2016. One had a cool head and was composed, the other was a mistake waiting to happen, with one rash lunge so ridiculous he slid all the way to Newcastle. I haven't seen a lot of Chester but he's an improvement on what we've got and has good credentials.

we should try clone Bacuna, Richards and Hutton to make the perfect right back
He would be a hard working, lazy schizophrenic that kept his head down but was a disruptive influence.

Do you reckon we could get Juan Pablo Angel out of retirement for a cameo appearance?
A line up that included Angel, De Laet would be immense.

Dont ask is he better than Baker, ask is he better than Richards and close your eyes and think about Richards being picked again. Now open your eyes and tell me is he worth 8M
He's worth £16 million.

If we want promotion, stability and any chance of long term success the single most important thing we can do is say goodbye to RDM and bring in Guus Hiddink or Marcelo Bielsa. Both are available and their appointments would instantly make me 1000 times more confident of a brighter future.
We can't simply continue to blame each and every successive manager for the current situation. Whilst not absolving them of any blame, numerous successive managers have been able to address the fundamental problem which is that a sizeable proportion of our squad are a complete and utter unmitigated bag of b*llocks.

Subsidence - Hutton.
Dry rot - Gardner.
Wet rot - Bacuna.
Flood plain - Richards.
Lazy, good for nothing squatters - Lescott & Gabby.
Was I close?
Yes I guess so. Flood plain means you need a really good defence, and the others are all difficult and expensive to get rid of.

That's what would have greeted Lescott had David Moyes been appointed Villa manager.
