  7. Can't you go direct from Belgium to Manchester?
  8. No they stood up ...why? You said it's people nothing more that generates atmosphere I believe that standing helps create atmosphere.
  9. As I said its people that generate atmosphere nothing more. That only about 8 of you wanted to stand up in that section of the north stand is evident of those willing in participation. Did the Rapid fans generate the atmosphere sitting on their arses?
  10. Yes I remember well. I think its worth pointing out that it would be doubtful 'terracing' would be brought back. Sanatised safe seating will be nothing more than standing in front of your seat. I am however in favour of it. Rather than have the safe seating as pictured a couple of pages ago, limited terracing with plenty of crash barriers would provide the club with an opportunity to make tickets available at a much cheaper price. There also seems to be a prevalent thought expressed here that it would improve the atmosphere. Not necessarily, people at the game can only do that witness are old friends Rapid. Rapid don't get told to sit down because they act as one they stand throughout the game, we tried to do it as a group against Burnley and suddenly had 5 stewards and the same amount of Police surround us threatening us with arrest, a safe standing area would get rid of this problem!
  11. It is a fact Jon that many hundreds of thousands of people up and down the UK still stand at the football - why not give these people the chance to do it safely while other people like yourself can sit down and not have the hassle of someone deciding to stand in front of you? Thus wrecking your matchday experience. It's surely a win-win situation, Jon? You can then make a concious choice about whether you stand or sit at the football. Added to that, it will help create a better atmosphere at Villa Park thus boosting the team on the pitch, which is in everybody's interest. I get your point and I voted no more that I don't like standing myself as to stop.a stamding area. But a standing area will not stop people standing in the seated areas. No I agree it wont stop people from standing in seating areas but im willing to bet that it would dramatically lessen the numbers doing it.
  12. As far as i know you are still allocated a seat. they used to be free for all style though, but i can see the sense in the one on you're picture. Yeah they used to be free for all and that's where the safety issues arose, it's easy to see how this is a much different set up but still allows the fans to stand as many wish too.
  13. As far as I'm concerned there is no valid reason, there would be safe standing areas and seating areas so if you don't want to stand you don't have too. That's why I posed the question mate, because there IS no valid reason. Exactly, some moron commented on a FSF (Football Supporters Federation) post on face book that the families of the Hillsborough victims would be against it but this is simply not true their not they understand what happened and have seen how the German model works, now if these people aren't against the idea then who except for the money men in football (because standing would be cheaper) can have a valid reason? Exactly. It works in other countries without any problems whatsoever and it also works out for people who don't like to stand and sing at the football. I'm really pleased that this is being raised now - because I understand the FSF have put in a lot of hard work to get it this far. I know Brigada 1874 aren't everyone's cup of tea but i've proposed to other members of the group that we should make a large banner to be flown at games echoing our support for the FSF campaign and urging the club to back it.

  16. Hi General A member of the coalition government has tabled a private members bill in the Houses of Parliament concerning the introduction of safe-standing in football grounds throughout England and Wales. If this bill were to be successful (big if) what would be the chances of seeing part or parts of VP converted to the type of areas common in German football stadiums? Here's a link to an article concerning this The Independent Secondly what are the chances of the club having a survey or even a referendum about this topic? If the majority of fans voted in favour could the club not then begin to lobby the FA and the government to help the campaign?
  17. Looked like he was explaing that when coming off, I thought he was awol in the 1st half but looked alot better until being taken off. How the hell did we get a freekick against us when 2 of the words removed tried to half him by the corner flag? :|
