  1. My ideal scenario is we get promoted, say thank you and goodbye to Steve Bruce and bring in a manager who will give him an opportunity in the Premier League. He has bucket loads of potential and would love for him to realise it with us.
  2. Best Aston Villa related news I've read for around 2 years. Not that it will amount to anything while Bruce is still manager. I expect him to be loaned out again or sold to a team like Burnley, Everton, Newcastle or Middlesbrough where he'll go on to turn his career around while we continue to sign players with a fraction of the quality.
  3. Reading with Bacuna - 9 wins, 8 draws, 15 losses (11 of these came from Wolves x2, Fulham away, Villa away, Boro away, Preston away, Sheffield United x2, Bristol x2 and Millwall on their unbeaten run) Reading without Bacuna - 1 win, 5 draws, 7 losses
  4. It helps if you're a defender and can contribute offensively as well as defensively.
  5. Lejuene has played 20 games for Newcastle this season for 0 goals, 1 assist and a record of 6 wins, 3 draws and 11 losses. Clark has also played 20 games for 2 goals, 1 assist and a record of 5 wins, 6 draws and 9 losses.
  6. When a new a manager is appointed, everyone is on their toes again, irrespective of a manager's quality. A new perspective and approach, even if ultimately it's lacking, can still 'freshen things up' and have a positive effect in the short term.
  7. He had injury problems last season and made only 2 appearances, but has made 14 appearances this season which is more than O'Hare, Sarkick, Knibbs & Lyden. I only saw around 30 mins, but thought he was a stand out and looked a class above to be honest.
  8. Can anyone who watches the U23's fill me in on how Oscar Borg is going? I saw part of an U23's game a couple of months ago and thought he was impressive. I know he made his debut for the senior squad in pre-season and by all reports played well. With us not having a recognizable left back in the squad, he might be a player we can call upon.
  9. So you consider finishing comfortably in midtable with Barnsley last season a crap job? They have struggled this season after losing a number of key players last summer but Heckingbottom still managed to keep them above the relegation zone and signed a new contract 4 days before he left. His record with Barnsley in the Championship is 21 wins, 22 draws and 33 losses, which is 1.11 points per game, 10% better than their new manager who has also probably benefited from a 'new manager bounce'.
  10. Heckingbottom has been at Leeds for 2 months and 7 of his 11 matches so far have been against top 10 teams including Wolves and Fulham. 3 of the other 4 have been against teams battling against relegation. Leeds failed to win any of their last 7 before he was appointed, which included matches against Birmingham, Nottingham Forest, Ipswich, Hull and an FA Cup loss to Newport County. Give him some time. I think he can be successful there if they have some patience with him.
  11. Guidolin would come. Flores is worth enquiring about. Espanyol are 15th in La Liga and there's been a lot of talk he isn't happy there.
  12. Would be a massive upgrade on Steve Bruce.
  13. Bielsa, Hiddink, Allardyce, Pellegrini, Sanchez Flores, Guidolin, Heckingbottom.
  14. Mannone was "single-handedly keeping them in the game" up until half time according to the commentary I was reading.
  15. Ashley Westwood impressing at Burnley and cementing himself as a regular just like I said would happen a few months ago in the Ashley Westwood thread. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/16130693.West_Brom_1_Burnley_2__Player_ratings/ http://www.uptheclarets.com/messageboard/search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&keywords=westwood
  16. Only 2 posters put in their ratings, the other rated him as their 2nd best player behind Mannone. http://hobnob.royals.org/forum/search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&keywords=bacuna&fid[]=1
  17. Don't know. Maybe you can ask Marc Albrighton, Steven Davis, Jordan Amavi, Adama Traore or Carles Gil.
  18. He's being used as a left winger and has a goal and 3 assists or a goal and 4 assists if you include Cup appearances, which is reasonable enough for a player who "should have more end product". He's also been injured. http://www.robinsnestforum.co.uk/search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&keywords=sellars
  19. I never said he should have been starting regularly. I wanted him to be given an opportunity in our relegation season because the only decent strikers we had were Kozak, who also was barely given an opportunity and Gabby who was in fairly poor shape. I thought Kozak needed a partner with the qualities which Sellars has and thought there was a decent chance they could have combined well together. Sellars scored on debut in pre-season in our relegation season then scored a double in an U21's game the next day (playing alongside Kozak and a number of other senior players) and was never seen again.

  21. A fairly good article on Carles Gil's time so far at Deportivo, written just after he made his return from injury and not too long before Seedorf was appointed manager. https://www.lavozdegalicia.es/noticia/torremarathon/2017/12/05/vieja-solucion-carles-gil/00031512491538467740511.htm
  22. He averaged more assists per game by mins played than any other player in La Liga.
