I just found out that Albert Einstein was a real person.

All this time, I thought he was a theoretical physicist.

Much more likely to be account takeover, not malware on  a phone. If it was malware on the phone, it would effectively be a zero day and AV wouldn't help.

There is zero value having av on a phone as long as you keep the os and apps up to date.

The (outsourced) cyber security guys who updated her set up suggested it was malware. However, it was year's ago and I wasn't that close to the actual cyber stuff, just talked her through whether she needed to report the breath to the ICO (she did) as customer data was breached. If I can't get my wife to keep security apps on her phone do you think I can get her to update her apps when needed?

i agree but I have the same issue as @Rds1983 in that all my pals use WhatsApp.

It's a difficult enough battle getting wife to have antivirus/malware and a vpn on her phone and that's after my sister in law's business was hacked via a breach on her phone (suspected virus via Facebook) and they lost over £20k.

Interesting chat on holiday with people mocking a data scientist I know who refuses to use whatsapp after facebook bought it in favour of signal.

If you're one of those who thinks it's unimportant that companies, governments and organisations are collecting fairly innocuous data on your internet use, like those on holiday, then this is a great little chat with Carissa Veliz. I'll be sending links to my friends

I'm sure it's available on your podcast supplier of choice, here's a spotify link.

I quite like the philosophy bites podcast.

I would gladly never use WhatsApp ever again. However, it's impossible to get any of my friends or family to move to a different messenger service.

    No need to apologise :D

I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but the original was so good that they were bound to not stick the landing in places.

I agree the casting looks good, and so does the bending.

Just as long as it's better than the movie they're onto a winner.

    We.......

    1. Read and write English to a reasonable standard

    2. Have a birth year beginning 19 or 20

    3. Have seen or felt the sun

    4. Are aware of Aston Villa,  Coca Cola, Disney and Microsoft

    5. Are related (if we go back far enough)

Kinda feel that 2, 3 and 5 fall under the basic human elements that apply to everyone.

1 has already been joked about.

Guess 4 would be correct and the 2nd one I'd agree with as I reckon we all would know those companies but there would be people out there who don't.

  7. I'm curious how many things we could list that we could confidently say everyone on this forum has in common? Could we list 5, 10, 20, or more?

I was thinking it through, and even the would be obvious ones had to be thrown out. Not everyone on here is a Villa fan as we get visiting fans. I suspect that not everyone loves football anymore as some might have been bored by how it's developed over the years. Surely there has to be some women on the site, even if not openly.

Surely there are some things that unite us all? We're all human and do the basic things a human must to live (eat, sleep, breath etc)?

    Is that it?

  8. How on earth they are 6th with a -2 goal difference is ridiculous.

If you told me 5 year's ago we'd be in 4th and 11 points clear of Utd after 27 games I'd have laughed at you.

Hell, if you'd have said that just 18 month's ago I'd have thought you were insane.

First got 'online' when i was 19 at my first job at an office on Colmore Row.

First mobile was when `i was 19 or 20 as well. My first couple of phones never had SMS enabled as standard from memory. Was probably 2 or 3 years later when i started texting!

Modern kids never knowing the joys of either designing your own or buying a ringtone.

When I was talking about Krakow to a work colleague, and I mentioned we went to Auschwitz. "Was it good?" was the question. "Errrrr..."

We were going to visit Auschwitz when we went to Krakow but did the Schindler museum first. That was enough for one trip.

I hope you'll get some answers soon. It does brings to my mind the shingles virus and some its potential effects, which can linger. You never described fever, so not sure. There are also neuropathies that can cause some of the symptoms you mention. A lot could be done if they test the nerves for neuropathy. I had shingles ages ago and it cause pain, numbness, and tingling. It can attack the eyes. In any case, best wishes!

I had shingles years ago but don't remember the symptoms Seat described. It's the unbelievable itchiness to the point of pain and the lumps/marks across my ribs that stick out for me. It was the most physically uncomfortable I've ever been for a prolonged period (like a 3 day electric shock if that makes sense). I've still got the scars on my side where it showed. Horrible virus.

I'm two episodes into The Brothers Sun, on Netflix. It's fantastic.

Action, plot, comedy, absurdity, soundtrack - it's got the lot.

On the heels of "Everything, Everywhere, All At Once", it's another absolute winner for Michelle Yeoh.

It's good and worth finishing but loses something and gets a bit silly as it goes along. Starts great and ends good if that makes sense. Netflix also announced yesterday that s2 had been cancelled.

    3. Visit Middlesbrough.  The right armpit of Northern England.

This reminds me. I'll never again do a bungee jump off Middlesbrough transporter bridge.

Climbed to the top in absolutely awful winds that shook the whole bridge so badly they immediately closed it after our jump, stood at the top to admire the view and realised just how ugly Middlesbrough is.

Just as I jumped a huge cloud of black ash was released from the crematorium below.

  14. I was reading a novel from the 90s to my son last night and it talked about having small toys in boxes of cereal.

Made me realise that despite this once being a very common thing, I think it now no longer happens at all.

Got me wondering what else used to be a common occurrence but has now disappeared without anyone really noticing?
