Plymouth have had a couple of bad results but a lot of their recent form is down to the opposition, in bad run they've had to play Norwich, Preston (who before today were actually in very good form), Ipswich, West Brom, Leeds, and Coventry, that's a bunch of either the best teams in the division or the most in form

Argyle's home form has completely collapsed, not only losing games but barely making any chances.

Rumours growing that Foster has been sacked this evening and is being replaced by Warnock.

  2. I've enjoyed Shogun so far but hate the weekly release format.

Also, couldn't help but laugh at this bit in episode 4 (unless I missed something):

    Spoiler

When she confronts him about being a pirate and raiding places and she knows it's true because she'd seen he wrote it in his diary:

    Spoiler

She doesn't speak English, let alone read it. This means for some bizarre reason he writes his diary in Portuguese.

Sadly Plymouth seems to be dropping like a stone terminally. They really needed a win yesterday. They seem to get goals but just have like a weakness in their team. I really hope they can survive at blues expense

They lost their manager and several key first team players over winter.

They were letting goals in under Schumacher because were very attacking and were doing well winning some high scoring games.

Under Foster they've gone more defensive and stopped scoring as much, but have continued shipping goals.

Rumours growing he's heading for the sack.

I think it’s a case of **** around and find out for the business world. We can’t have open access to everything for the extraction of profit, even from drinking water. With us supposed to be so grateful to these people that once their profits are threatened we bail them out. We need a fundamental recalibration of our relationship with profit driven international capitalism because for 40 years now we’ve been told its the only thing that will make life better and save us from declining standards and that’s clearly demonstrably absolute bollocks.

    Private profits, public losses.

I lived there for 11 months, nearly 20 years ago. My Swedish was bad then and basically non-existent now (apart from words which sound like rude words in English: bra, slut etc).

I have no idea what this means and Google translate is saying "rag donut with bottle". Which I suspect is wrong, but having met Swedish people, part of me thinks it might not be.

If any of this lot can get 2 wins from their last 7, they'll be safe:

QPR probably just need one tbf.

Apparently Wednesday played quite well today but just couldn't score, maybe they'll be the ones to get it together.

Argyle have awful form under the new manager and are dropping like a stone. I wouldnt count on them to win much going forwards.

    Thumbs up!!! Love that stuff.

    So basic but so good.

One of the things I miss most about living in Sweden.

Really good pea and ham soup would be another.

If I'm drunk I might crave one of the weird sausage and mash potato kebabs.

The call was 4 days later.

You’d think you’d just cancel the call in  advance and give your reasons.

And I’m guessing the answer to your question about compassionate leave is “because she’s in America”

I did consider the American bit as their work practices and culture are awful, but @lapal_fan hadn't confirmed she was in America, just that she was Texan.

I mean that's awful, and my heart goes out to her.

But that's also quite a strange way to conduct a call with someone you don't know very well

Probably in shock. Maybe sh just wanted to talk to help process it and sometimes that's easier with someone you don't know well.

I dont understand why she was even in work and wasn't given compassionate leave.

My understanding is selling it for a quid is a problem, and selling it within 7 years of death is a problem. But selling it to OurHouse2024 Ltd., for a few tens of thousands, and paying rent to OurHouse2024 Ltd of a few tens of thousands and living 8 years is acceptable.

That’s a very abbreviated version, but there is a route. Just an idea for now.

I'm not an accountant or financial advisor so couldn't say for certain. Just recommending you speak to one beforehand to make sure it's done right. Spend a little to save a lot kinda thing.

Yes, if they did they could have played together. Lampard and Gerrard thrived as had intelligent players babysitting them at club level like Makelele, Essien, Alonso, Mascherano

There was zero balance to the midfield playing Gerrard, Beckham and Lampard together (even worse when Scholes was added in). They all wanted to be in the same areas of the pitch and to be the star of the team. Add in a Carrick or someone to sit behind them and play more of a diamond and it might have worked, but even then I think the egos and club rivalries would have got in the way.

At some point in the next few years I think we might be selling our house to our kids and then renting it back from them.

That appears to be the safest way of attempting to get our major asset over to them rather than over to a care home for 8 months of school dinners or whatever you get for a few hundred thousand these days.

If you do decide to sell your house to your kids, assuming that you do it on the cheap then make sure you consider the potential tax implications.

68 when I get it.. i've basically wiped it out from my calculations/projections. Anything received will merely be a bonus.

Same. I realised about a decade ago it would be worthless (mostly through my wife nagging) so pumped money into private pensions. Whenever I got a parish or promotion I'd pop part of it in to the pot. Think I'm currently on about 17% of salary which helps. One of my colleagues is on a final salary pension scheme though, she told me she'd just ticked into £1m in total which is ridiculous and something I'll never get near.

Loneliness, is a big No,No.....Socially interactive is important, and making other people feel good about themselves is rewarding to you.

This seems to be the key bit from what I've seen. My in laws don't really do anything but spend time with each other, no social clubs or part time jobs/hobbies etc. They see us and my brother in laws family but that's only two or three times a month at most (we live the closest but it's still 20 miles away).

See the thing is, I've read LotR and seen the films, and that's the beginning and the end of the fantasy genre for me. I've occasionally dipped a toe in that stuff over the years, but without exception it's left me cold. I did watch the first episode of GoT, thought it was twaddle. So I don't give a monkey's about whatever their names are (never heard of them until the last few posts) bailing on it. They get a clean slate from me. And 3BP is hard SF (see elsewhere for my antipathy to the term 'sci-fi'), so rather more to my taste. So far (3 eps) it's promising. That's all I care about. If it fizzles out, I'll drop it, and watch something else. It's only a telly programme at the end of the day.

I think the issue people have with them is now a lack of trust. They invested years in watching season after season of the show, investing time and emotion into the characters and storyline, for a show many saw as the best ever, only to then feel betrayed at the final moment because the producer's had something better to do and phoned it in.

A bad analogy but imagine it's the last game of the season, we're challenging for 4th and only need a point. Then the lineup is announced and we have a squad full of u18s and get tonked, all because the main players all went out partying the night before.

No, a bit further west, by the swastika stone

That was a regular walk for us before we moved to Cheshire. Last time we walked across from Dick Hudsons and took in the various sites, we got to the Cow just as a rock climber fell off the top and broke their leg. Horrible sound.

Rombald's being on the doorstep is one of the few things I miss from living in Riddlesden (that and Shimla Spice being on the door).

I am 73 and retired when I was 63....I started a few part time jobs, but felt it was counter productive.

There is no singular answer to retirement....you have to follow what makes you happy.

A lot depends on your circle of friends and family.....if you have many, there is no time, for a job....you can also watch the weather and just go away on spec, when you haven't got a job commitment.

We are all subject to the protestant work ethic, but don't be.....retirement means what is says......stay fit and eat healthy, and enjoy.

Personally, I find loads to do, and Villa is my main hobby, bit of snooker, once a week, and I like, my films and music.

Just remember, you have earned it, this is your reward, only take a job, if it's enhancing your happiness, not a chore.....but it is another commitment.

Enjoy, that precious time, mate.....you've earned it.

This sounds ideal. My concerns about it when I eventually retire are based off seeing multiple family members (on my wife's side too), who seemed to start deteriorating (physically and mentally) when they retired. It was like they'd aged 15 years in about 3. It might be coincidental but it also seemed to be the trigger for my Mother In Laws dementia,  like once she wasn't using her brain for work it just kinda stopped working properly.

  19. I was disappointed when I discovered that the American game I'd seen on TV and was for hardcore drinkers,  namely Edward 40 hands.

Only involved drinking 4 pints of average (for the UK) strength beer (5%+).

There's probably 12 year olds in the UK who could do that.
