Southampton players must be doing some serious fitness training, they literally press the opposition for 90 minutes.

Top scorer including 2 penalties (1 of which he missed). I'm not saying he's been terrible, but it just irritates me how other players are subjected to vitriol constantly and benteke gets away with 'poor today BUT' Come off it, before his injury he was the top scorer in the league and he clearly isn't at full fitness, by far our best player and if he really was playing bad he wouldn't be getting a free ride I'm sure. It was his first start back after injury, surely it's understandable that he was unfit? I do agree that he should've done better with his chances but he is the player I am able to forgive the most.

I wouldn't have put the second chance down as a sitter and he actually got a good shot off, I just think he should have squared it for Bacuna. Definitely not up to match fitness though, no doubt he'll be back with a bang over the next few matches. Might be worth letting Bacuna have a crack at penalties btw, he hasn't ever missed one in his career I believe?

Good post. If we had all 11 players on form we would win more than we lose. Unfortunately, we do not have enough cover, nor good replacements for players when not on form and it shows. I agree, it is definitely a question of quality but I guess we just have to put with it as it's not something we can change. I'd like to see Sylla and Helenius given starts just like Tonev got today. Today we could have been 3-0 up within the first half but we didn't take our chances and were punished for it. It probably won't be the last time we see it happen this season but in contrast we've already seen us pull off upsets against Arsenal and Man City. We have an extremely young squad, I don't think any of our players have over 50 Premiership games under their belt yet and inconsistency will come hand in hand with this.

We're very, very inconsistent in our performances in pretty much every area of the pitch. I don't think we'll be right down at the bottom again but these next few games will really give us an indication on how we compare to the teams that will no doubt finish around us. Our next two home games are against Cardiff and Sunderland, two teams that in my opinion we have to beat. I expected pretty much guaranteed losses against Tottenham and Man City but we managed to get three points from those two games, I also wasn't positive that we'd be able to beat Everton as they're better than us at the minute. Bacuna and Delph have been really good for us so far and Vlaar has definitely improved on last season. Hopefully when Benteke is back up to 100% fitness we'll start firing again. As I said previously, the next two home games are two that we must win.

Another Andi fan here but he really needs to be dropped, his composure is awful and he's snatching at everything, how nobody has been given a chance over him is beyond me. As a striker, he needs to be able to put the ball in the net.

It isn't unlucky though, we had a handful of chances and we didn't take any of them.

Anybody slagging off Tonev for shooting, take a look at Weimann.

So typical and I could feel it coming, that is what happens when you don't put away your chances. I'd rather us play crap and edge games by the skin of our teeth than completely run the show and go behind, feels awful.

We're playing fantastic and are by far the better team, but I can't help think we'll lose this somehow.

How anybody thought Vlaar was slow when we first signed him is beyond me, has always seemed somewhat quick, especially for his size.

I think he has to give Helenius a try, the game is wide open as things stand and it'd give him a real chance to show what he can do. Just not for 10 minutes, give him at least half an hour like you say.

With the way he actually shoots it doesn't even look as if it'll end up anywhere near the goal. He sort of puts himself into an awkward position, especially on his left foot, really weird.

He has been decent, although our best player so far has been Vlaar in my opinion (bar the atomic strike). The concrete seems to have finally set. Delph and Bacuna close behind.

Cracking game so far I have to say, but we should be putting the ball in the net, Weimann off for Helenius at some point definitely.

We actually look like the home team, which is strange.
