  1. From the moment MON walked out we seem to have been in a relegation battle. PL just took over from where AM left, the position in the league shows there has been no miracles performed, just steady progess towards a more sustainable future (IMO). This season was always going to be a battle (unless proven Premier League players were brought in) we couldnt afford to buy our way into a mid table position, clever purchases and good coaching is our way forward and the evidence of both is starting to show, at least for me.

On the subject of Stoke, they look to have quite a few high earners on their books now, the wages must be close to ours.

  2. Just finished Breaking Bad .....it really is a must watch, season 4 was the best IMO, but only just. Sons Of Anarchy is now trying to fill the void left, its quite good, not quite to BB standard though.

A good comedy series is Still Game, its been running for years in Scotland, it has some very funny moments.

  3. enjoying being a villa fan for the first time in a while... justified or not, i'm loving it at the moment... and am looking forward to the games without the usual sense of dread...

i'd love to get through the month with several clean sheets... if we can start to look tight at the back again, everything will be rosy....

This, seeing this young team, many having come through our academy, compete in the Premier League is great. After watching ageing mercenaries be so poor, over the last few seasons, its great.

For the first time in many seasons i feel like I'm getting my Villa back UTV

  4. Perhaps PL thinks we need to get another midfielder who can tighten it up a bit before we can afford to play a 4-4-2 formation with Bent and Benteke upfront. I can see the value in Bent playing around Benteke picking up from all the flick ons and passes etc that Benteke generates.

ATM Benteke seems to playing on our rightside meaning whoevers playing over that side needs to be alert, he wins alot of the ball, IMO its not hurting the opposition as much as it should.

I still think Bent and Benteke could work for us, just not as we are playing at the moment

  5. Breaking bad, 1st series 2nd episode was my highlight, the bathtub...... upto the end of second series now and its been very good.

Sopranos Series 3 Episode 11, Pine Barrens was the highlight of the Sopranos for me. Saw em all, TV at its best IMO.

Underbellys a good series as well, at least the first two, on lovefilm instant.

  6. The psychology of competing against your team mates for a chance to play seems to help Gabby perform. Bent has played with this type of pressure when he was at Spurs, it will be interesting to see how he responds to it at Villa.

I would put my money on Gabby and Bent being played up front togethor as our first choice strike force, at least against the Baggies..... UTV

  7. Anyone....We Are the Augustines, Rise Ye Sunken Ships?

cheers for posting this, love it! Played it on repeat for the past 45 minutes.

No problem, I have been introduced to some great music of here myself, thanks VT.

ps We Are the Augustines are playing at the brum ballroom in October.

  8. Nope

Lennox against Gary Mason, Derek Williams and Evander Holyfield, the first fight. Tyson against Frank Bruno the first fight (who hurt tyson enough to put him down, imo, but bottled it and stood off him) , and Julius Francis.

Im not taking anything away from Tyson, he was one of the greatest ever boxers, his whole persona deystroyed many a fighter before they even touched gloves, Trever Berbeck springs to mind.

  9. The best fighter tyson fought was, Holyfield. If he was in his prime, Larry Holmes. Foreman was a player in the division when Tyson fought, Foreman was 50 years old..........Tyson was the best i have seen live at finishing, i think he would have struggled with Lewis in his prime, to big and to mobile and i have watched them both live.

  10. If you split I think she's more likely to get the house, kids, dog, etc etc and you'll have to move out and pay her maintenance

If you've been paying for everything then you may have set a dangerous precedent

If this is true then its crazy.

I have no intention to ever get married, I dont see the point. You gain nothing from it and if it fails you end up in a situation like this. Bollocks to that.

I think it's the same if your not married but have been living together aka common-law spouse.

It's not the same, its just a very common misconception that it is. The cold hard facts are....dont get married, get your name on ant childrens birth certificates but dont get married.

Divorce is very expensive for the bread winner, especially if children are involved.

She keeps the house until the kids leave full time education,

You pay for her to live in the same lifestyle as she is used to.

Half your pension earnt while you were together goes to her

Seek legal advice you can trust, especially if you have lots of equity in your house/ savings. A bad one will see you are both solvent and take 30% for themselves, she get 75% of whats left (her and 2 kids) and you wil get 25%

Do not the leave the house, stay there and live a seperate life until the kids leave home and or education is my short term simple advice.

Anyone whos not married....dont do it! Go on world cruise, buy a nice car instead, its a piece of paper and a nice day out at the end of the day, if it goes wrong its a **** nightmare.

  11. Foreman was better at what Tyson was all about, he was bigger, stronger and had a harder punch, Ali beat foreman.........

Take a look at Foremans fights before he met with Ali, the guy was a beast of fighter.

  12. Tell AXA your going to a US lawyer in order to reclaim expenses incurred with any delay in their payment, they have a hotline for skiing accidents. Sounds messy, AXA must have a reason for not paying, get it and then phone the insurance omb

  13. "If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses."

    ― Henry Ford

"Let's plan a murder or start a religion."

    ---- Jim Morrison

"How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think"

    ---- Adolf Hitler

  14. The vast majority of public money for transport is already being spent in the SE/ London see here. Check the comments at the bottom for + votes, they all regonise the fact that the bias towards London is getting past a joke,

"Most of the population lives outside the M25 area, but most of the country's ego lives within, so that's where the money gets spent"

  15. I smoked only at the pub only for years, then it led to one when i got in from work, one when the kids went to bed..........after a few years it was 3-4 a day and 10 when i was on the lash, the only way to really quit is to do it 100% Any other way and your just prolonging the pain of quitting over years/ months.......

  16. _57439565_standing.jpg

only down side to this type of standing is not being able to do a good old knees up mother brown where everyone piles down to the front!!

Open the space up to double the distance and ditch the seats, i think that would be the best situation all round.

If the atmosphere builds then fans want to go, it not just about winning, its the experience of being surrounded by 1000's of fans all willing the team to win, it could make poor players pull their bollox out to try and please, we may even get a home win...... ;-)

Ps "the right side" " lets all have disco" "lets go f***in mental" Classics, I remember the songs more than most of the games!

  17. If this was to happen it would be the best thing to happen to football in years, I was brought up in the stands, the atmosphere generated has never been bettered.

Giving the game back to the fans who are at the ground. The Holte end rocked, i can see Dalian Atkinson heading that goal against Tranmere now, the Holte end jumped about 4 foot in the air, probably the best time in my Villa 'career', and I have been to a few finals.

  18. ATM Villa is not the place for a young developing talent like Bannan, he needs a few seasons at lower level to find his true worth. If he can hold is personal life together i think he has a chance of being a good PL player.

We have been starved of a midfield creative talent for so long I think a few of us got a head of ourselves with Bannan's ability at such a young age........His corners are some of the best I have from Villa.

  19. Mmmm they want him on the cheap, hes come on form just in time really otherwise i reckon this would have been a loan deal or even a cheap sale, ie £1m to 2m.

Hes been our best player over the last 3 games.....im not yet convinced hes got the staying power or mentality to be our star player though and he must be top 1 or 2 in wages.

Would I sell? Anything over £8m would be hard to turn down, it would also be a risk for QPR as well.......
