  1. As for Mike Ashley being a better business man.......their in different leagues, Randy is a world player, Ashley owns a flagging retail business.

I agree they are in different leagues.

One is self made, the other has inherited his fortune.

One has taken a club saddled with debt, removed it and moved the club to generating an operating profit and a sustainable wage bill. The other has taken a virtually debt free club and put it in huge debt to himself while charging interest and management fee's by the million along the way. While allowing a wage bill to get completely out of control before having a change of heart.

Now don't get me wrong, Mike Ashley has made mistakes plenty of them in fact. He has made poor decisions in relation to managers and has shown a remarkable ability to upset the locals. I'm not by any stretch saying I'd rather Mike Ashley own us than Randy, not at all.

However when you say Ashley is in a different league to Randy I'm sorry to say you are right but on purely business terms its not a comparison that is favourable to Lerner.

Ok.....he made his own money, he is also well on his way to losing it all as well, his Black investment has turned into a nightmare, £1b to £4m in one year............lets see what 2012 holds for Mr Ashley, i think Newcastle may become his main cash cow.

  2. They didn't want to sell Downing either. But he was sold anyway.

Difference is though, Downing put a transfer request in. Bent has not.

He also had 2 years left on his contract (bent has 3 1/2) and wasn't worth anymore than £12m.

  3. Lerner, "owns" Villa, were not going to force him to sell by acting like spoilt brat's, the only thing you will do is further alienate him and possibly force him to withdraw his support......is he going to want to come to Villa park if a protest or disent towards him is shown? I dont think so. Spend money......no?

Randy has turned the corner with the Browns, hes appointed a CEO with experience within the game.

PF may be a fantastic CEO, i just look at the decision making around what I imagine his role covers and there are to many poor decisions, IMO. Keane would be the latest one, Jenas, Ireland and a few more tbh.

For an experienced football CEO your going to struggle, however an ex manager who's stayed within the game could be a good move, although picking him, as with picking a manager, would be a hard call for a management team that seem to struggle with football related issues.

I dont think Randy is a bad owner, i think his intentions are good, I think hes been unlucky both on and off the pitch, give him time and he will turn us into a top 8 club that supports itself financially.

  4. I am sorry but the best shag I have found was a bi-polar bird, mental as **** and very good at stalking too!

 It must be in their genetics then cus, all my best ."shags" have been the same as her. I could also add Jealous, possesive, unreasonable and fought like a man (well attacked as i was running)

Why is this the case, is it a common theme?

  5. Get angry with the drink, not yourself, its making your problem worse. PieFace has a great idea, learn something new, something that interest you, mine was C+ then PHP..........start slow and you will be amazed at how achieving simple things makes you happier, gives you hope. Just pick something your interested in learning

The thing with drink is that it just numbs a bad thought, when your sobber it comes back but worse because you know you have let yourself down with drinking the night before, it becomes an endless cycle into full blown depression or alcholism/ both.

Dont pin to much hope on one person....the counsellor..........the ones based in your local doctorsd tend to be just a kind face and a listener, the advie they give tends to just repeat whats already been said....excercise and new hobbies.

Another avenue is work........some large businesses have their own to get the "work related stress victims" back to work, good luck. UTV

  6. So let's say Darren Bent wants to leave, in the same way Gareth Barry, Milner, Young and Downing wanted too. What would YOU do to stop them wanting to leave? Offer a bigger contract? They did that. Show "ambition"? They don't have the money to compete the same way the top 6 do.

So, how would you convince players to stay?

You're not necessarily forced to convince anyone to stay.

When a player still has several years left on their contract you can always just tell 'em that they're staying, like it or not. Yes, there is a potential downside to that, but there is also an upside ... perhaps a very long-term upside.

I bet you're itching to give us an example. Hmm, I wonder what that could be?

Just dont go there ffs, Levy is a very good chairman, he, IMO is the primary reason Spurs are where they are,

  7. Bellamy would score us goals in the short term and would not be a loan signing, which i see as of been no benefit to anyone more than L pool, especially if it was Carrol.

"Why would Bellamy come to us?" Because L Pool want Bent, they would have to make a sacrafice to get him.

L Pool are serious shit IMO, their public image (world wide) has been shattered, their fan base will be affected by this Suarez crap and the way they stuck the t shirts on...... a big buy now make be an attempt to divert media attention away from their arrogant behaviour towards one of their own......A no class club if ever there was one.

What contract would we put him on? 2 year? 3 year? he isn't worth it at all at the age of 32.. it's short term like you said when currently we have a better player (imo) on a long contract and if there is any potential deal with liverpool they'll try and pull a fast one by including him in a deal to lower the price.. that's before we even consider whether Bellamy would want to even come here (I highly doubt it)..

Price stays the same and he comes on loan then? Either way we hold all the cards, lets just see how well they are played..........

  8. Robbie Keane would not be a replacement for him, Bellamy could be......

.. Yeah 32 year old Bellamy will be the perfect replacement :|

Bellamy would score us goals in the short term and would not be a loan signing, which i see as of been no benefit to anyone more than L pool, especially if it was Carrol.

  9. Bent has 3 1/2 years left on his contract, thats the difference, we dont need to sell.......However any figure over £30m, then (if i was the manager) would sell tbh, after tapping up/ signing another player. Thats what the manager/CEO jobs is IMO. After the decision is made I would phone Lerner and tell him its a good deal for the club.

Robbie Keane would not be a replacement for him, Bellamy could be......

  10. Its not a simple as changing the manager IMO. Its the vision the upper management has for the club thats important. We have had 2 managers that the present management team have picked, GH and AM, both had their fans and also their enemies within our fans.

GH had heart problems, was out of the game for some time. AM, relegated blues, was our rivals manager and his team played ugly boring football. (he was also ginger......... :winkold: ) Can someone tell me who has the football knowledge (at senior level) to make these major decisions? We seem to have no direction.

As someone pointed out earlier, how can we go from interviewing Martinez to appointing AM or from having GH as our manager? They are completely different beasts, at least IMO. If AM was a risk then why not point him on a rolling contract? Who sacked MON? Who carried on with signing Ireland when we was managerless?

All the succesful clubs have a strong upper managerment team, Spurs, Manure, Arsenal, Chelsea spring to mind. Infact Levy, ATM, would be my dream signing for Villa.

Now im not sure if Randy Lerner has a really active roll in these decisions (i would doubt it very much). He does however have power over his managment team, ie the people who make these kind of decisions.

Randy ownership of the Browns shows us one thing.......

"On December 21, 2009, as Mangini's first season was coming to a close, former Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Holmgren was hired as team President and was given authority over the team's football operations. This hire was made after Browns owner Randy Lerner announced that he wished to bring in a "serious, credible leader" to steer the team in the right direction"

    See here

Randy..... Villa need a "serious, credible leader" to steer the team in the right direction"

  11. It still baffles me how the board how can go from looking at Martinez to McLeish.. it really wasn't a footballing decision that's for sure.

It really is quite simple and you are right it was not a footballing decision.

I agree with both statements, who can make a football decision in a club which has no knowledge of the game? (one who's in charge)

I cannot for the life of me believe Lerner has made the same mistake with the Villa with the one he made at the Browns, we need a figure head who has football knowledge and respect within the game........sort it out Randy.

  12. Swansea looked like Brazil today, well played

Not that I want to take anything away from the way Swansea approach games, but I genuinely believe that we made them look like Brazil. We looked hopeless chasing them down, and we gave the ball back to them way to easy.

If we'd been playing Barcelona today, we would have been absolutely destroyed. Luckily Swansea aren't as good as that.

Maybe, im a Villa fan, Swansea had players on that pitch that shouldn't be anywhere near us....they outplayed us, even Routledge looked deadly. Something aint right at Villa park, aint been right for probably 2 seasons now.

We need someone who can pick a manager who's gonna give us hope, MON was good for a top 6 finish, GH had lost his mind, AM appears to be struggling, IMO You dont change a winning team!

Whos at fault? IMO........the owner for not picking a CEO who knows about football, get GT in, Big Ron....anyone who knows how to pick a manager or even knows about football.

Its no good letting people like SALF pick our manager, thats the CEO job IMO........ps im a bit excited tonight, sorry but 0-2 at home against last years promoted team shows me how bad a position were in!

  13. Houllier tried that and half the fans were in uproar which is disappointing to say the least.

F**k Houllier......... i dont care what he planned, he was shit, allienated 95% of our fans and was no good for us at all.

AM biggest mistake was to drop Allrighton (change a winning team), he showed more in 20 minutes than all the others did in 90, bringing Ireland off was a mistake as well, he worked his bollox off while he was on the pitch. Hutton, to my surprise did well.

Warnock was owned! (best thing he did was hand ball it off the line)

Swansea looked like Brazil today, well played

We were, AT HOME ffs. The fight was there, the tatics were not. Long season ahead lads...........

  14. The main part of Top Gears entertainment value for me is their hair styles.......how bouffant can you get, hair dryers at the ready, rollers, hairpspray the full works, the shows a joke. Another boys only, middle class, BBC waste of taxes.

The public want a car show, they want to see £10k sports cars, £2k baggers, £5k luxury cars, £20k new cars. The BBC however wants to shows middle age ego driven crap comedians. If you want to laugth then watch only fools and horses.......or perhaps we are?

  15. £25m.......we never sell at a loss. Bellamy can come over to us as well, that way we get a player who can score goals.

Liverpool need CL this year, if they dont their business model is under pressure and that leads to trouble, even with a rich owner like we have, which they havent got btw.

  16. agree with you tro, you can instantly spot great youngsters, they don't come along often

SGC you are certainly not a talent spotter :!:

:D where did i say? i was complimenting tro who i think is an excellent football poster

    Spotting football posters?

  17. you wouldn't recruit someone in a position who had no experience or knowledge of that job or industry.

Unless they was your friend? Or if the system that taught you showed you this was the way? After all you dont want to employ someone who tells the truth no matter what the politcal implication are, would you?

A modern politicians main aim is to get and keep elected, what they do after that is a secondary consideration.

  18. Exactly. But where the Labour Party should be articulating that and trying to build understanding of that approach, they are falling short.

I agree, politics is now a course you take at uni, a social class, a closed club. I dont think any existing party would have the drive, knowledge or backing to do what needs to be done (im pretty sure they havent). We need a new ruling class or a different system.........or perhaps both. This can only be achieved by the people in this country, not the leaders, they have failed and have no answers im afraid, just the same old ways that got us in the mess to start with. Vive la Revolution!

  19. Just back the player regardless of what happened......like L'Pool and Chelsea have.......He made a mistake and hes now willing to put his hands up and say he was wrong, how wrong is that? IMO it shows a touch of class about the whole situation from both Villa and Bannan.
