  1. This probably says all we need to know about where this guy's status really is. He was ' all-right' today. I was done with him 4-5 years back and just want him out of not only the team, but the club as well.
  2. Probably a bit harsh, when he burst onto the scene he had masses of potential but he just never developed. I seem to remember there was talk years ago of Arsenal being interested but that just seems laughable now. Put bluntly is is lazy. He knows he will virtually always get a start and he is happy to stay being 'Mr Villa'. That in many ways has been he problem, a chronic lack of ambition both with us and in terms of moving to a so called bigger club. If we stay in the PL I would definitely move him on but if we go down I have this sneaking suspicion he could score loads in the Championship as I think that is probably now his level. A bit like Bent really. With respect i don't consider it harsh in any way at all. I have never rated this clown to be honest with you. As for scoring in the championship? i wouldn't take that as a given either, the championship is a very strong, competitive league with not a lot of time or room to play in, and I'm sure even Gabby's most staunchest fans would admit close control is not one of his assets. I honestly feel that whatever league we are in next year it's time to part company.
  3. off-field antics, gone stale, passed his best!!! this is poppy cock, it's really very simple he is just not a very good footballer and quite frankly he never has been either.
  4. I think that is harsh. He has been effective in the past, its just the last few years he has been awful. . Not even remotely harsh, quite the opposite if you ask me, in fact i would say it's bang on the money. Get rid now and do us all a favour. My argument was that it was harsh to say he has never been PL standard. He clearly has in the past been a very decent PL striker. He's shit now, i agree! with due respect I understood what you meant, however i say again it's not even a Little harsh as in my view also he's never Been PL standard
  5. Me too, i honestly thought we had finally found a natural goal poacher. I am really surprised that he hasn't kicked on from where he was two seasons back. Not holding out much hope that this will change now.
  6. Thankfully i never bought in to the whole ' villa fan' nonsense that has protected him from the wrath of the supporters that his performances would have totally justified, however i am glad that most fans are seeing beyond this now and realising what a clown he really is.

  8. harsh? he gets away with blue murder
  9. why? If this clown played until he was fifty [ heaven forbid] he still wouldn't warrant being mentioned in the same sentence as two villa legends, both Shaw and Little had more talent in their toe nails than this clown could ever hope to have, just a very, very poor footballer period.
  10. its the amount of games he's played that has allowed him to accumulate the goals tally which can be misleading when talking in prolific terms.....most of his peers were never allowed to accumulate that many games....shows how lethargic we have become in terms of management over the last decade. Most of his peers were unable to accumulate the appearances Gabby has, largely down to injury in fairness - the likes of Brian Little and Gary Shaw didn't get that opportunity, Gabby has proven more durable than them. I don't think his contribution to the club in the eleven years he's been in the first team squad should be underestimated in it's own right. If he retired tomorrow he'd have done enough to be very fondly remembered, and it's still possible he could be here another six or seven years. The beauty about this game is the difference of opinion....I personally would not put him in the same class as Shaw and Little....for sure he has scored some well executed and valuable goals...but for me, he has more iffy games than them....so for consistency of performance I would go with Brian & Gary, they were technicians. Good Lord; please people i don't want him for another six weeks!!!. And just how he can be put even in the same sentence as the likes of Shaw and Little fills me with utter dismay
  11. bugger. Might explain why we haven't seen any explosive runs from him this season, he's been carrying whatever is wrong with him for a while. Really! and what might explain the previous four rubbish seasons? sorry don't mean to sound disrespectful to you, just don't see any value in him as a footballer personally.
  12. People please! there is no best of Gabby, what you see is what you get. Give this up please never going to happen. poor footballer period. We'll see aye? Yes i believe we will see the end of him sooner rather than later, and not before time IMO. Does this mean we have already seen the best of Gabby? There never has been or ever will be ' the best of gabby' just always a very poor footballer period.
  13. People please! there is no best of Gabby, what you see is what you get. Give this up please never going to happen. poor footballer period. We'll see aye? Yes i believe we will see the end of him sooner rather than later, and not before time IMO.
  14. What! With due respect what career? the guy is a clown and should be bombed out ASAP. I cant believe so many people still cut this guy any slack whatsoever given his actual contribution on the pitch.
  15. People please! there is no best of Gabby, what you see is what you get. Give this up please never going to happen. poor footballer period.
  16. I have never rated this clown, not from the day i very first saw him pull on the shirt. I used to get unbelievable stick from my mates about this, but deep down i knew in time that i would be proved right. He is just not good enough, never has been, and never will be.
  17. Weedman with all due respect all you are doing here is comparing Gabby who quite frankly is not capable of being any better than he is right now because this is what he is full stop against a clearly out of sorts Benteke who is clearly a much better and gifted player than what we are witnessing at the moment. He is a professional footballer for goodness sake, if he cant handle playing in different positions then I'm afraid there is no place for him in the premier league, and don't get me started on his scoring record
  18. I figured it out quite some time ago, it's easy really he ain't a very good footballer.
  19. Between 4-6 for me, just cant see any more than this. Hate to say this but i think it's our year to go.
  20. I honestly do not see any of them hitting a goal trail. I would back Benteke to score the most, but this will not be many in my view.
  21. I disagree - I think Gabby gives defences something to worry about - even though he is a poor finisher his pace can pull defences all over the place. On current form is easily Gabby over Benteke for me (not that either option looks great!) Not a chance in hell for me.Gabby has been in the last chance saloon for 4 seasons. There's probably not a villa fan alive right now who thinks that Benteke is putting in a shift, however in that crucial moment when a bit of quality is needed i know who i would want on the end of something and I'm afraid it's not that clown Gabby. Is everything suddenly forgiven just because he's done exactly what he is supposed to do as a professional footballer; Run around the football pitch today!!. I guess if you cant be very good then you might as well be lucky, and he seems to have a lot of fortune come his way IMO
  22. What!! Ian Bell had him in his all time villa team please? whatever must the likes of Lochead, Little, Gray [ both times, and he was rubbish second time around] Deehan, Shaw, Withe, Geddes [ yes he proved he could play when the fans got off his back] Yorke, Saunders, Savo who despite his indiscretions towards the Villa had a first touch that this clown can only dream about. think about Ian Bells team. This is a wind up surely?
  23. I really don't believe that he will be remembered as a good striker. Decidedly below average springs to my mind. I just hope this day will come sooner rather than later.
  24. Id agree - he needs a shake, for his own benefit as much as ours. No, he needs to be dropped for our benefit.
  25. Only Lambert (and O'Neill, and MacDonald, and Houllier, and McAllister, and McLeish) He wasn't a nailed on starter under Houllier or McAllister. Well he was injured for a lot of the first half of that season and still made 26 appearances, so I'd suggest he certainly featured heavily. And the point is what? We weren't very good then, although i would admit better than the current side which is not that much of a recommendation. In my humble opinion it's time to dump him and the whole Mr Aston Villa nonsense once and for all and move on. Weimann ain't the answer either long term we all know this much, but short term the energy and tenacity that he displays and the pure and simple fact he is a better goalscorer clearly outweighs anything Gabby brings to the team. just do it The point is Lambert isn't the only manager to play gabby a lot. So claiming "only Lambert" would have Gabby in his team is clearly bollocks. Stevo985. Is your point that because other managers picked him, this then must make him a good player? My view is that we weren't much of a team under anyone other than MON, consequently this is clearly in no way any type of endorsement of him as a footballer in my view. As i said before in my humble opinion lets drop the whole Mr Aston Villa/He's a fan nonsense and ship him out. He's just not very good!
