  1. Only Lambert (and O'Neill, and MacDonald, and Houllier, and McAllister, and McLeish) He wasn't a nailed on starter under Houllier or McAllister. Well he was injured for a lot of the first half of that season and still made 26 appearances, so I'd suggest he certainly featured heavily. And the point is what? We weren't very good then, although i would admit better than the current side which is not that much of a recommendation. In my humble opinion it's time to dump him and the whole Mr Aston Villa nonsense once and for all and move on. Weimann ain't the answer either long term we all know this much, but short term the energy and tenacity that he displays and the pure and simple fact he is a better goalscorer clearly outweighs anything Gabby brings to the team. just do it
  2. His pace and excelleration on and off the ball used to cause other teams a headache. I don't think any team is seriously concerned about him anymore. He's never been the same since "bulking up" his muscles. IMO, it was this that was likely to have given him more than the usual amount of injuries over the past 4 years, and being constantly played out of position has contributed to his form steadily declining. Lambert still must think there's a hope he could recapture his form like he had under MoN. It's not impossible, but IMO Gabby should go back to the size his body was naturally before and work at improving his play in the role Lambert's giving him. Never going to happen, although he is still capable of running quite fast, he will never be as quick as he used to be, and this I'm afraid is all he ever had to offer. Simply got to be dropped immediately, he is not good enough in my humble opinion to represent ASTON VILLA. I suggested a while back that a straight swap with Burnley for Danny Ings might be worth a shout, as if they'd want to do this now! Boy are we stuck with him.
  3. His time is up, ship him out now for goodness sake. Someone please, please tell me what does he do/bring to team apart from being able to run quickly in a straight line??
  4. Really? i barely saw him touch the darn ball!
  5. Would anyone like to try and defend him after this? In his only defence he was not alone today.
  6. Wow. He's our highest goalscorer in PL History. He's been playing poor this season, apart from 3/4 games when he was good. But that's always been his problem, consistency. I wouldn't got as OTT as you have there mate. IMO, we don't utilise Gabby's pace enough. Is he our highest scorer in prem history or did yorke get more? Also, he's our highest scorer with what? 65 goals? In 8 seasons that is pretty pathetic and it is a stat that says more about how shite aston villa are than how good gabby is. Piss poor team defined by piss poor players. With all due respect if i had ever been good enough to have represented Aston Villa FC as a striker in as many games as Gabby has done up this this point, and was still some distance south of being a centurion goalscorer i would be pretty disgusted with myself. Put your hand on your heart and can you honestly say that you think he's capable of notching even 15 goals per season going forward. It's been mentioned on here elsewhere he's cramping our forward play. I'm pretty fed up with him stopping play midway in the opposition half, playing a safe pass inside and waiting for the plaudits. I'd drop him in a heartbeat. I'd get on the phone to Burnley and offer a straight swap for Danny Ings.
  7. Agree totally, never has been, never will be. How a player can get away with doing so little for so long, and managing to stay a favourite amongst a large percentage of supporters is just simply beyond me.I've said this before but i will say it again just because he claims to be a villan and loves the club so what? every single one of us on here loves the villa, but this doesn't mean we can play for the club.
  8. I just really struggle to come to terms with the fact that this guy is a professional footballer. Please someone tell me how the hell this came about, because I have felt this way since the moment i clapped eyes on him, not just in the last couple of years.
  9. Shane Long Wickham Fletcher Soldado That West Brom guy Jelavic Ulloa. Riviere There's about £70m worth there for you. Think you should take Fletcher out of this list, i would have him in our side any day of the week over both Gabby and weimann
  10. This really puzzles me, i loved to watch Norwich play back in those days and was really excited when Paul Lambert had agreed to join us. For whatever reason he just hasn't carried on in the same vein. I still want to back him and keeping thinking it will all turn around soon and we'll become this free flowing outfit that Norwich once were. Maybe he's under orders just not to be relegated and therefore cannot play the same type of football that Norwich did, i suppose after all when Norwich get relegated it's not the same shock wave as if it happened to us?
  11. With all due respect, he's one of the reasons we are, where we are today.
  12. Good game? yes by his extremely poor standards maybe. I guess if stopping the play midway through the oppositions half and then looking inside for an easy lay off, then yes he had a good game. With the greatest of respect, this guy is supposed to be a striker. Can he beat a player? not really sometimes he can push the ball past a player and then try and outrun them, but more often than not if he succeeds in doing this, the end product is just not there. Does he really look like scoring goals? can anyone ever realistically see him getting anywhere near 15-20 goals a season?. Does he have a first touch? in my view no, Does he hold the ball up and bring others into the play? again in my view no, in all honesty i fail to see what he does do and this from someone who is supposed to be a top striker. In my humble view we should drop him, how Darren Bent must have felt watching from the bench I will never know. If only he had been given just half the amount of game time afforded to Gabby, he would most likely be looking at around 5-6 goals by now. Yes i know that fans will say he's a villan and all this, but at the end of the day, we are all villans on here but that doesn't mean we can play for the club.
  13. I must be one of the few people who were disappointed his red card was rescinded. This guy is is a waste of time in my opinion and i for one are now glad that he misses the next game, although he will probably get lucky again and someone else will pick up a red card, like Benteke did against spurs to let him back in the side for the following game.
  14. Villa fan of 40 years +. My favourite players of all time are Gary Shaw and Paul McGrath, who was in my view Truly world class. My best period ever for watching villa was the Atkinson era, poetry on a football pitch.
