I had to write to a VTer to learn what a "gillet" is -- it's not used in America -- but what is the significance of this action of throwing the jacket or gillet?

I'm going to be honest, I actually enjoyed the start of the season and watching Roy Keane lose the plot when weren't doing the right things, yes sometimes he went over the top but I much prefer that than being slumped over in the dugout for the whole game. Sherwood will bring that and then some and If I don't see at least one jacket or gillet get flung across the dugout this season i'll be well miffed.

Who cares if the team talk worked or not. We won the game and played reasonably well in the second half. We'll see soon enough if Sherwood is having a sustained and consistent impact on the squad so for now why don't we just enjoy the fact that we did things in todays game that we haven't done for a long time.

Really excited for the game, but then again I am incredibly naive when it comes to Villa. Lambert did his best but hopefully there is a breath of fresh air around the place and the Marshalls just tell the lads to go out and attack all game, even if we get battered I'd rather see the lads go out there to win it rather than play like we have been.

Definitely the right attitude to have, if its going to be anything, its going to be exciting. We could have gone and got Pulis or Moyes in and yes, they probably would have kept us up but then what? If Sherwood keeps us up he really could be good for us and hopefully has fresh ideas. I still fear though that Lerner will stop him reaching his full potential, as he did with Lambert.

To Karl that sent an email into Talksport, if you are on here.....The **** are you talking about? "What Villa need is a coach, someone to put their arms around Benteke and Agbonlahor and tell them how fantastic they really are" Pretty sure we've just had a guy doing exactly that and where did that get us? What they need is a boot up the arse, Benteke certainly is capable of being fantastic when he can be bothered and Gabby is capable of being unplayable once every 15 games when he can be bothered.

I think people need to stop saying people are slating the manager because I don't think they are. Are they not allowed to have an opinion on the appointment? If that's the case then we should probably close this thread down until we've played a few games. I think its obvious that in an ideal world we wouldn't have employed Sherwood but it seems he really was the only viable option with the turn around we had. It leaves plenty of answers up in the air but I'm positive everyone will get behind him.
