  1. No, it wasnt that one. This program was on TV about 30-35 years ago ( thats how long I have been a Villa fan ) and it was a serious program not a comedy. Could have been the Professionals - Martin Shaw is a big Villa Fan and played Doyle I think (or was it Brodie) with Gordon Jackson as the scottish boss!
  2. I lived around the corner from Villa Park (Albert Road then Bevington Road). Supported them since age of 4 when my uncle took me watch them (FA Cup v Charton.) I used to deliver the Evening Mail to the old Villa Cafe on the corner of Nelson Road (sadly now gone) - used to deliver it to Charlie Tabberner (Villa Caretaker) and to the old scrote Ellis at Villa Park. Met many a brilliant player in the cafe - they would be smoking and drinking tea/coffee - buggers would keep me there for ages whilst they each took a copy of the mail and read it before letting me go. Rioch,Lochead,Anderson, McMahon, Philips, Rudge and many more.
  3. Saw this from a welsh journo on twitter...anyone fancy a crack at trying to translate?? Aberwate is the Welsh name for Swansea, but that's the limit of my Welsh. Stupid Welsh. Can't even spell Swansea properly. Just spat me tea over the desk at work - you plonker Mike!
  4. Basic wage across the board. Assist bonus Goal bonus Clean sheet bonus MOTM bonus Table finish percentage increase for basic wage It would work I tells ya!! 8) Think it did back when Lord Saunders was manager. If I remember - players had a basic - plus a bonus for a win (or was it each point) Bonus for goals etc. Remember being told this by Dennis Mortimer and that Ellis stopped this as soon as he took over and sold/shipped out most of the European Cup Winning players.
  5. No they are not - Culverhouse had a 3 year contract - signed 2009 expires 30th June 2012. Don't know about Karsa though. Think Culverhouse will join at end of contract
  6. From the ancient language of Gibberish: ste = knows ell = sweet fa only Kidding!!!! as opposed to naz = prat vfc = with no brains
  7. Considering that Randy gave Houllier 24 million (Bent,Macoun etc) and he who was crap £20 odd million - what makes you think Lambert wont have at least that much (24 Million) PLUS money from sales? That's more than your "from the horses or should that be "Jose's" mouth
  8. So you are 100% sure those are fees we WILL get for those players? Boy this transfer and managing lark must be a doddle to know for sure that those are the exact figures we will receive. I suggest people stop playing Football 1 zillion or whatever - Clubs (apart from the big ones) are not gonna spend and pay the money - AND match the wages that the Gabby's and Makouns and Warnocks of this world. Unless you think they will willingly take a pay cut unless some daft club will pay them what they currently are on (notthat I know the exact wages)
  9. Is this what you have been told or gather from the various newspapers or are you presuming? In my ever so humble uninformed opinion - I'm afraid if Norwich had done things correctly then no matter WHEN Randy approached him - we would have had to pay compensation - he was on 1 year rolling contract but from all the snippets we have had in the last week or so - no compensation is due as apparently Norwich re-negged on a clause in the contract. That means Lambert is to be given LESS than he was at Norwich for Transfers (according to Norwich fans). WOW the guy is going to perform miracles on a crap budget!
  10. Yeah - slipped my mind that - him saying if he had to lose he would be happy if it was the pool - really talking like a winner - NOT!!. Did hear Lambert say they have to aim to win as many games as possible to get the fans behind the team the club and himself! And one other thing - the only thing remotely akin to MON and Lambert is the wearing of the tracksuit. This manager reminds me of a certain Ron Saunders in his demeanor in his mannerisms in the way he talks to the press - but I bet you when it comes to it - he can be like Ron was - a task master and demanding the famous 110%. Ron never suffered fools badly. That's just my feelings
  11. Yeah right - Houllier spoke like a winner -- saying we are a club that should aim for 8th - 12th! Instead Lambert bigs us up - We have won the European cup - he says it doesn't matter what decade it was in - we still won it - one of only 5! AND that teams spend hundred of millions and still don't win it. Just cos he didn't cream himself by stating he aims for top 4 - if he said that and didn't do it at the first attempt - he'd be shot down before he's even started. No matter what some say - they are not going to dampen the spirit - seems others OUTSIDE of some of our own fans are sure Lambert will be a success. Go ahead don't be excited and looking forward to the new path we are facing together. Most of us are and will enjoy it. I bet there will be some on here just can't wait to lay into Lambert at the first opportunity. (Not aimed at a specific person)
  12. Do I not like that. Get me Culverhouse or i'll have a fit. Culverhouse contract with Norwich runs out on 30th June. After that unless he signs another one or takes over as manager - he is a free agent and can come to us with no payment due to Norwich.
  13. You are Borat and I claim my five pounds. Thanks Crackpot mate - just spat my tea over the laptop! Best laugh I've had in ages - I read back Richards post in that Borat accent thanks to you!!!
  14. Yes But wearing a dress and makeup or some of here clthes would be optional unless you wanna pull!
  15. I'd agree with that - defence needs a big shakeup - Midfield is where we struggled. Forwards - have enough (at the moment). With some of the young guns coming through - we need a bit of experience and desire in those area's
  16. Jesus Christ... **** the Jubilee, let's all celebrate this old codger!! I'll take you to the biggest duck filled pond you've ever sat by! HA! HA! Typo there - meant 6 decades (although looking at my face I look like it's been 60 decades!!!). Keep talking Naz - takes some of the 'old codger' pressure off me! Pleased to do so mate - these young ones haven't lived yet! A minor blip in our history and they all started sounding like old farts! (but in my case I fart like an old fart!)
  17. So did Prozac, Valium, Mogadon and plenty of razor blades too! I should know - got em all!!!
  18. Jesus Christ... **** the Jubilee, let's all celebrate this old codger!! I'll take you to the biggest duck filled pond you've ever sat by! HA! HA! Typo there - meant 6 decades (although looking at my face I look like it's been 60 decades!!!).
  19. Is it really that clear? Wonder how you know? Why not look at it this way - he has seen the guy that took a gamble on him - helped him (along with Culverhouse) score 17 top flight goals. Maybe he wants to play for a bigger and better club. Why not Villa?? If for that amount of money and wages he can score just as many (a lot more than Heskey/Gabby) then surely that is a benefit for Villa - he may be happy joining Villa and being part of a SQUAD and not being a cert every week? In all my years (60 decades) of being a fan - ONE thing never fails - it is the "fans" that pooh pooh an player even before he has kicked a ball in anger wearing our honoured and famous shirts. Maybe he might bust a gut to show he is worthy of wearing the shirt - something lacking with many of our current apparent team. Just my opinion and nothing else.
  20. I'm sorry but some fans don't half talk twaddle - Lerner is skint?? So much so he gave that previous incumbent 20 Million and the one before that 24 Million. Yeah he's skint - NOT. Lambert WILL have funds - they have NEVER been the issue - it's always been the high wages - get them down first then spend butkeep wages manageable.
  21. Well being of Turkish/Asian origin I have been a Villan for 50 Years - my nephew has carried on the tradition and he has lived in London all his life . His Kids (3 girls - one only a year old are Villans). Was proud to be one of the first of my "race" to be a Villan but as far as I am concerned Race should not come into it - I am part of a diverse and proud Villa Community and long may that continue.
  22. Very true - and if that's the case why do some drama queens get their knickers in a twist and go off on one and lay into the Board/Club/Player if there is a report in the media which in your own words "does not have to be 100% factual". I suppose it must be false so some can vent their spleens rather than accept what is stated by whomever. For example - the Mick McCarthy shit last week - people went off on one!
  23. Beat me to it! No evidence whatsoever but still it must be true. OGS was brought over in the plane because he had a match on the Sunday and wanted to be back fro training on Saturday. Randy is a decent bloke and does understand football (contrary to what some "experts" on here think). He wanted to make life easier for OGS so that he could see us and also have time to prepare for a game - this is what OGS and many of the ITK's and press alluded to but must have been lies. Villa are keeping things close to their chests seeing what happened with OGS. Patience is a virtue that some do not have. Have the Boggies been telling their fans who they are interviewing apart from what they released to the press? Did Wolves? Does any Chairman (apart from Whelan)?. Just enjoy the weather while it lasts. Wait it will happen - anyway how can any new manager access the squad when they are all on holiday till the return around end of June. Only Newcastle have bought anyone of note - can't see other teams rushing to sign anyone. I think the business will be done after the Euro's. I am sure any prospective manager would have seen what has happened at Villa and would have an idea of who he wants to sign and who may need shipping out. They see what we see too - just as many watch streams and televised games - so do they. Just my slant on things
