I had the word removed Areola for weeks and no returns, then I drop him and he pulls off clean sheets against United and Arsenal.

Well, the technology interacts with the ref by vibrating his watch. You don't want that happening when it narrowly goes out for a GK/Corner because you open up the possibility of a ghost goal being given.
The solution is probably just another camera directly above the goalline to call in/out for those marginal calls.
But the technology is based on Hawkeye, isn't it? How can they have Hawkeye for between the posts but not just outside the posts?
-
What an absolute sh*tshow... They have goal-line technology to detect if the ball crosses the line, except that's only implemented for a partial part of the line (between the posts) and not for the entire line? Jesus wept

I thought VAR couldn't give yellow cards?

I'm all for not giving every handball as an automatic penalty, I've said that many times on here, but people seem to be forgetting that it was a shot from 7 yards out that had every chance of hitting the back of the net...

Two teenage brothers have been arrested after their sister was shot and died during a row over Christmas presents.
The 23-year-old was shot in the chest by her teenage brother while she had her 10-month-old son in a carrier, the Florida sheriff's office said.
The boy was then shot by his older brother who took out his own gun, Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.
It added that the shooting followed an argument over who was getting more presents.

We lost at Old Trafford (which we always do) with our 4th and 5th string CBs playing as a pairing, our preferred CB playing at RB, and our DM suspended. Not even this would have helped the spine of our team

I think we need to take a breath. Newcastle just lost back to back games against Luton and Forest.
Man U are great one week and shit the other.
Spurs have ups and downs.
This is our first real blip and it comes after beating City and arsenal. If we'd got a draw with arsenal, lost to city and then beat Sheffield United and Man United would we all be ok? Same points just different way round.
There's 5 teams fighting for top 4. We are one of them. Torres and Kamara will be back soon and I'm sure we will make at least 1 signing in January.
Exactly. The inevitable meltdown on here is always incredible.
Sure, 1 point from Sheffield United at home and Man U away is disappointing, but:
Newcastle will be disappointed with 0 from 2 v Luton and Forest
Man U will be disappointed with 1 from 2 v Bournemouth, Liverpool, and West Ham
Spurs went 5 in a row without winning (4 losses)
With Pau and Kamara we win that yesterday.

Rule is that Meslier should be sent off for hand to face, sure...I don't agree that should always be a red card offence but nonetheless.
But, I would love for refs to have balls and send the Preston player off too. Yellow for instigating + yellow for rolling around like a rocket polisher trying to embellish. Or, a red for instigating as a "third man" like they have in ice hockey would do well too...

No solution is fool-proof though, is it? I think what we want is the power to be left to the on-field ref, unless it has been an egregious error. Let the on-field refs and linos make decisions they are confident on, and if they are not sure they can go to the monitor to verify. Only if an egregious error has been made should someone sat in a chair interfere, especially since a lot of what VAR is currently interfering with is subjective decisions with no consistency. And, most critically, let the on-field ref explain the decision at the time like they do in the NFL, NBA, etc.

What do you mean? Liverpool and man utd are on, irrelevant vs who, sky have ticked their box
And FWIW I think our game could pull a decent audience, not sure what specials are on the normal channels but I'd have thought a lot of people would want to watch the man utd car crash vs seeing if we're the real deal or not

My heart goes out to you j/k Nicely done. Best of luck with it.
Thanks. Weirdest WC I've ever played, keeping over 7 in the bank to bring Haaland back in... Midfield is where I'll either sink or swim. I didn't take Son as then I'm stuck with trying to get rid of him and Salah at the same time + possibly bringing in Haaland. Don't have space for Bowen either, but Dougie is the one I am most worried about leaving out. Can easily bring him back in, but gone with a different differential for now.

Scored a winner away at Old Trafford and gave us fans a huge moment to remember. I'd say that's more than what 99.9% of "footballers" have accomplished.

WC active. Been stalling around 5k so gone for a few differentials.

Better question is if it was so obvious, how did the on-field ref miss it and will they be reprimanded for it?

good to know - we'll see. seems odd that it would be team goals conceded but player goals scored. not complaining though!
I think it is still player goals conceded. E.g. Diaby has 0 as he was taken off before conceding.

so my cup tie this week in the overall cup:
both scored 50, so tie is decided on most goals scored, fewest goals conceded, virtual coin toss
pretty sure i lose because the teams my players play for scored 1 less goal than the teams my opponant's players play for. that's annoying.
I am pretty sure it is most goals scored by players in your team, not the teams that they play for. It seems you are tied 5-5 on this.
I am not sure, but I then assume it is goals conceded by all players in your team (not just the DEF+GK). I believe you have the edge and will progress.

Is it though? We have recently been putting in rather dull performances and we all know about Newcastle's recent form + away form... Salah has 12 days until Egypt's first game against Mozambique and by my math is averaging 8-9 points per home match. If not Salah, then Alvarez home to SHU and on pens with Haaland out would be the other choice.
