Ranked 5k heading into this GW and crashing out of the Cup at the first hurdle to a 5mil ranked team...some very bad decisions this GW and might team needs gutting so might need to use my WC this week instead of for GW18, but I have a work trip this week and not much time to look at my team...

Haaland not in the squad

Odegaard missed two really big chances, their finishing was poor throughout
But they lost because of the ref...
This 100%. If they had taken care of business themselves then they would have nothing to complain about. Nowadays, instead of saying "we win if Odegaard had his shooting boots on", it must be the ref's fault we lost for not giving us two decisions that were by no means egregious errors (and in fact were correct). What happened to the mentality of "let's go out there and win and not let the ref be a part of the equation?" There are times when it feels like you are against 12 men, but that definitely was not the case last night and nothing to cry about.

Without VAR today arsenal would have had no penalty and a disallowed goal.
Then the talking point would have been "did the ref get it wrong" and "we needed VAR". Same discussion, different target.

I must have missed the Jesus foul, did they say anything at the time or something they dug deep in finding after the match?
It was checked by VAR, during which Carragher was certain it would be given because the exact same went against Liverpool earlier in the day. Of course not "this shouldn't be given and I don't think the one earlier should have been either, we shouldn't be given penalties for these things"

One I remember is about 10 years ago Alex McCarthy turning into prime Buffon Vs Liverpool. Made loads of great saves
Obviously Emi's as well in WC final. A very good save as well but also had so much riding on it. Last seconds of injury time 1 on 1 in a world cup final.

Potential Mbeumo injury makes things interesting...do I go template and bring in Gordon, which blocks my route to triple NEW defence until I WC for GW20, or go for a differential like Kulusevski. Will wait for news tomorrow but either way if he's out then I am stuck with Cash on the bench for at least another GW, or then Cash goes and I play Archer in place of Mbeumo. Interesting GW coming up!
Hmm...if I go for Palmer (lovely set of fixtures + on pens) then I can bring in Trippier the following GW

I'm just speechless. And I'm watching a replay of the game to relive it all again. I'm 49yrs old and given the opponent- that's the best I've ever seen a Villa team play. They couldn't lay a glove on us, we were in complete control and dominant for the vast majority of the match. Could have easily been 2-0 or 3-0. Should have been frankly.
I saw on twitter from one of the xG stat posters- from the 11th minute until the end of the match- Citeh had 0.00 xG. Thats how dominant Villa were today. Remarkable. Bring on the Arse this weekend.

99.9% perfection in our win except for the fact Luiz trolled me and could have had a hat trick

We can win this, but let's not forget we are indeed 7-2 underdogs. Hopefully an enjoyable spectacle to watch but even if the result goes our way we shouldn't get too down about it.

We need to go hard and fast from the first whistle and not give them any respite.

Villa fans should be way down the list of moaners when we all wanked each other off watching Grealish do it every week
For the most part, Grealish drew contact and/or left a leg out. He generally didn't go down like he was shot and feigning pain for the slightest touch, trying to con the ref.

Dubravka for me this GW...sick of Areola...double WHU DEF with Aguerd has really backfired
Wow, Dubravka went up 0.1 overnight, meaning I'm -0.1 if I want to bring in Trippier too

That's what pisses me off though, ref can't see it but VAR still can't get involved
But dignes left little toe 2mm offside? Get them lines out
Who wants this shit?
Human error is part of the game and they are trying to remove it, instead adding more error.
Missed a sitter? That's an error. Roll back the clock 10 seconds, everyone back in position, and try again.
