  1. You have to ask yourself who would want the job with the board teliing the fans their aiming for CL football whilst consistently selling the best players season upon season
  2. Just out of interest, what is the oldest surviving photo of Aston Villa and is there a link to it? (be it player/staff/team or stadia)
  3. ...it also says a bit about the economy
  4. Its easy to look at things retrospectively and say "well if this was said at this point it would have been better", but not so easy when you dont have hindsight I think its also easy to forget that The Gen was acting as a gloryfied ITK really, he was not in his office with a PR team deciding what should be published to the fans, he was letting us know in an informal way in essentially his spare time, so to then take his post and display them as "Exhibit-A" and "Statement-B" seems a little harsh Its also a little naive of The Gen not to expect the press to take his statements on here and manipulate them, especially when Randy is less than forthcoming with them This bit did make me smile though... ..were not fickle :winkold:
  5. Could this just be a way of ensuring that our next manager is less of a free entity than MON was? Since his departure some of the stories that have came about seem to suggest MON chose to pretty much ignore any thoughts coming from the coaching staff bar his two closest allies. By elevating K-macs position it will ensure any new manager/DOF has to somewhat take into account the thoughts of K-mac and the coaching staff Whether or not this would work, who knows?
  6. Hello General Looks like you've gone and got yourself into the headlines again! :winkold: I sort of feel sorry for you a bit, its like the ticketing row from last year all over again, you just 'aint ever gonna win.. ... tell us the truth, we demand it, you owe it to us... ...shortly followed by... ... how dare you go and do our dirty washing in public by criticising MON! Personally, i couldnt care less who said what and why so long as this club keeps moving in the right direction, and so far i, nor any of the other fans can have any real complaints in the way in which this club has been run over the past 4 years... i hope this is going to continue and that some of the more conspirisist minded people on here arent proved right in the long run On a chirpier note, the new web-site looks nice from the quick look i've had UTV
  7. ....and on that farm he had a donkey... wonder who that could be???
  8. Hello Gen Go and get Gus Hiddink... offer him anything and everything to get him, tell him you will build him a house on top of the new North Stand if you have to. He has already proved he can walk into a premiership club at short notice and turn things around without making any wholesale changes UTV
  9. ..sounds like a perfect LB for MON!!! sorry, just kidding, but couldnt resist
  10. Watched from the Holte Lower yesterday Both Albrighton and Reo looked good last night. Heskey was abismal as usual, squandered a good chance with a header at goal and also completely failed to control the ball that would have allowed him a 1 on 1 with the keeper, not good enough really
  11. Hello Gen With the new FIFA rules regarding spending beyond a clubs means approaching, do you think AVFC is at a disadvantage compared to other clubs who have expanded their businesses into other areas (ie hotels)? Do you think it would be feasable for us to make better use of the car park area behind the North Stand, perhaps turning this into something that could generate us some income? Im sure I read somewhere that thoughts of an underground car park were scrapped due to cost, but surely it would be significantly cheaper to locate car parking on a flat roof, on some kind of concrete structure prettied up with a red brick facade? Im not suggesting a hotel would be the way forward for us, but im sure there would be many types of business that could be created that would benefit from being linked to the Villa Brand. How about the Aston Villa luxury spa and gym, buy a ticket to the game for yourself and abandon the missus in the spa! or perhaps the Aston Villa Sports Science and Physiotherapy centre, essentially a Bodymoor Heath for the numpties where you can go and get treated like a Premiership Footballer. I realise its all cost, but surely it would just be another asset of AVFC, which should Randy choose to sell at some point he would recoup in the sale of the club Keep up the good work Gen
  12. I dont understand how you can have crap players AND a crap manager and finish 6th in consecutive seasons? Surely someone somewhere must be doing a half decent job to achieve this?
  13. I'd have him back.. but i wouldnt have him as part of a swap deal with Milner Wages wouldnt be a problem, the mancs arent going to really want him clogging up their dressing room anymore as they're going to be onto bigger and better things, they'd bung him a payoff to allow him to accept our "low" wages (a la Sidwell) Actually, I wouldnt mind seeing Barry partnering Milner in the middle, but I doubt very much we will see either of them at VP next season As previousely said, never gonna happen (would be funny though watching Barry asskissing his way back on his knees!)
