  1. You have to ask yourself who would want the job with the board teliing the fans their aiming for CL football whilst consistently selling the best players season upon season
  2. Just out of interest, what is the oldest surviving photo of Aston Villa and is there a link to it? (be it player/staff/team or stadia)
  3. ...it also says a bit about the economy
  4. Its easy to look at things retrospectively and say "well if this was said at this point it would have been better", but not so easy when you dont have hindsight I think its also easy to forget that The Gen was acting as a gloryfied ITK really, he was not in his office with a PR team deciding what should be published to the fans, he was letting us know in an informal way in essentially his spare time, so to then take his post and display them as "Exhibit-A" and "Statement-B" seems a little harsh Its also a little naive of The Gen not to expect the press to take his statements on here and manipulate them, especially when Randy is less than forthcoming with them This bit did make me smile though... ..were not fickle :winkold:
  5. Could this just be a way of ensuring that our next manager is less of a free entity than MON was? Since his departure some of the stories that have came about seem to suggest MON chose to pretty much ignore any thoughts coming from the coaching staff bar his two closest allies. By elevating K-macs position it will ensure any new manager/DOF has to somewhat take into account the thoughts of K-mac and the coaching staff Whether or not this would work, who knows?
  6. Hello General Looks like you've gone and got yourself into the headlines again! :winkold: I sort of feel sorry for you a bit, its like the ticketing row from last year all over again, you just 'aint ever gonna win.. ... tell us the truth, we demand it, you owe it to us... ...shortly followed by... ... how dare you go and do our dirty washing in public by criticising MON! Personally, i couldnt care less who said what and why so long as this club keeps moving in the right direction, and so far i, nor any of the other fans can have any real complaints in the way in which this club has been run over the past 4 years... i hope this is going to continue and that some of the more conspirisist minded people on here arent proved right in the long run On a chirpier note, the new web-site looks nice from the quick look i've had UTV
  7. ....and on that farm he had a donkey... wonder who that could be???
  8. Hello Gen Go and get Gus Hiddink... offer him anything and everything to get him, tell him you will build him a house on top of the new North Stand if you have to. He has already proved he can walk into a premiership club at short notice and turn things around without making any wholesale changes UTV
  9. ..sounds like a perfect LB for MON!!! sorry, just kidding, but couldnt resist
  10. Watched from the Holte Lower yesterday Both Albrighton and Reo looked good last night. Heskey was abismal as usual, squandered a good chance with a header at goal and also completely failed to control the ball that would have allowed him a 1 on 1 with the keeper, not good enough really
  11. Hello Gen With the new FIFA rules regarding spending beyond a clubs means approaching, do you think AVFC is at a disadvantage compared to other clubs who have expanded their businesses into other areas (ie hotels)? Do you think it would be feasable for us to make better use of the car park area behind the North Stand, perhaps turning this into something that could generate us some income? Im sure I read somewhere that thoughts of an underground car park were scrapped due to cost, but surely it would be significantly cheaper to locate car parking on a flat roof, on some kind of concrete structure prettied up with a red brick facade? Im not suggesting a hotel would be the way forward for us, but im sure there would be many types of business that could be created that would benefit from being linked to the Villa Brand. How about the Aston Villa luxury spa and gym, buy a ticket to the game for yourself and abandon the missus in the spa! or perhaps the Aston Villa Sports Science and Physiotherapy centre, essentially a Bodymoor Heath for the numpties where you can go and get treated like a Premiership Footballer. I realise its all cost, but surely it would just be another asset of AVFC, which should Randy choose to sell at some point he would recoup in the sale of the club Keep up the good work Gen
  12. I dont understand how you can have crap players AND a crap manager and finish 6th in consecutive seasons? Surely someone somewhere must be doing a half decent job to achieve this?
  13. I'd have him back.. but i wouldnt have him as part of a swap deal with Milner Wages wouldnt be a problem, the mancs arent going to really want him clogging up their dressing room anymore as they're going to be onto bigger and better things, they'd bung him a payoff to allow him to accept our "low" wages (a la Sidwell) Actually, I wouldnt mind seeing Barry partnering Milner in the middle, but I doubt very much we will see either of them at VP next season As previousely said, never gonna happen (would be funny though watching Barry asskissing his way back on his knees!)
  14. To be fair, how many keepers tops do you see and think "I'd quite like to wear that down the pub actually!"
  15. How about with Mita Copiers as sponser logo, they still exist?
  16. Vaseline Should make those shaftings a little less painfull
  17. Great response from Dunne. Doesnt make Dowd any less of a cheating cock though
  18. Not sure they were clearly better, but they had that bald fella, and that makes all the difference
  19. Ok i'll give u the bit on Ronaldo, I foolishly listened to what a "pundit" said the other day and took it as gospel  Replace that bit with Ash then, not entirely set the world on fire this season has he, and I have seen people on here saying they would be indifferent if he was sold I agree JC is not getting any younger and will not improve, but there are higher candidates to have your fury vented at than him, he does a job.
  20. Carew is suffering from not having a regular run in the team. Last season he never went more than 3 games for us without scoring, which is a brilliant type of player to have in your team. Much more use than somebody whose biggest strength is laying off the ball in the centre circle. I think this highlights beautifully the problems at this club, people tend to have such bloody short memories Its ok clammering for all these big name players to come to the club to "take us to the next level", but what happens in their third season in when they have an off season through injury, loss of form or being kept out of the squad due to another players boost in form, are we supposed to bin them off and start again because they are now rubbish? Christiano Ronaldo is not having a particularly good season at Real, its just a good job he's not playing for us as there would be fans on here demanding he be sold due to his poor attitude and being past it. Players qualities do not change from season to season, only their form does, JC was just as lazy and committed just as many fouls in previous seasons, only it was overlooked because his form was better. JC is not perfect in any way, and would I like to see us rely on him to get the goals for us next season as our main striker, not on your life, but it just suprises me how quick people are to turn on a player who has done the business for us in previous seasons, when there is a number of players at our club who have done nothing since they arrived and dont look like doing anything any time soon either No wonder we get labled as fickle
  21. The difference between "unlucky" and "useless" is one draws two fine saves from the keeper, where as the other ends up sailing a mile over the bar and into the stands
  22. How dare Big JC have a loss of form, its disgusting and totally unprofessional, sell him immediately along with anyone else who may have a dip in form or take too much time to come back from an injury! On a serious note, Carew has always been hit and miss and drifted in and out of form, which wouldnt be a problem if we had others to turn to... but we dont, Gabbys always knackered, The Fonz is still learning the ropes and Heskey is as much use as tits on a nun IMO we should bin Heskey off and keep Carew, at least Carew can come up with a bit of magic now and then, that and the fact he can actually hit the target. Thought he played well yesterday too, was unlucky not to score twice if I remember correctly Sell Heskey and The Hare - Keep Carew
  23. A great big LOL @ the Gen! The combat hardened General who has always answered the constant stream of gripes and moans on this site without so much of bead of sweat befalling his brow is now somewhere cowering in a corner clutching an off-tilt tin hat to his head whilst waving a tattered white flag as a small army of disgruntled Villa fans hurl season tickets, chairs, computers and prosthetic limbs at him! I bet you didnt see this coming as the final whistle went at the Blackburn game now did you :winkold: Please remember though Gen, its all because we love the Villa so much, and we all appreciate what you do personally here. Hope your therapy, ahem, i mean tests go well, all the best UTV
