    We win!

Great read as always John. Thanks. A well-deserved win against inept but sometimes over-physical opposition. I too thought Curtis Davies looked a bit steadier last night. Maybe those who have said that MON should have made a couple of substitutions earlier on have a point. But the other side of the coin was that it was nice to have the possibility of making late substitutions to eat up some time near the end. MON has been criticised for not doing this in other games recently. So it seems a bit harsh for people to criticise him when he finally does do it.
  2. Drew'sMilitia, I think you could be right. Last summer there were InTheKnows, Leaders of Opinion, people who thought they knew about these things, could read the signs, etc etc etc, people who screamed and screeched and called him names, and they nearly all said Barry would be on his bike. He stayed then, he may well stay now. I certainly hope so.
  3. I'm sure the club would carry on perfectly without Barry. Having said that, yes I would be mightily pissed off if he left. Still, if he insists...
  4. Are you into Robert Simpson, Mike? Because his quartets really are something. Sod Holmboe. Then there's Tippett... But you've named Shostakovich. Oh YES!!!
  5. Which one? Me: Mott the Hoople - Thunderbuck Ram Nº 17 "Mattinata"
  6. Not a song. Something by Vagn Holmboe. Anyone into Vagn Holmboe? Thought not. And earlier something by Arthur Benjamin, an Australian. Mmmm.
  7. I've already said twice on this thread why I hope it's a Barcelona v Man Utd final, so I won't repeat myself. I can quite understand why Chelsea went out and defended on Tuesday night, and I'm sure it was all very professional and all that, but don't expect me to enjoy them getting away with it or even bother watching them. I switched on top watch Barça, not that shower of very 'professional' shite. Quite apart from Alex going round fouling, fouling and fouling, Chelsea for me have the largest number of words removed of the 4 semi-finalists. Notably Cole (A), Terry, Ballack and Drogba. Xavi's comments echo exactly what I was thinking as I watched the match.
  8. I'd much rather the CL was won by a club that has already won it and not have Arsenal or Chelsea joining our exclusive little club. Last night I was hoping for a comfy Barça win, tonight for Man Utd to score about 5.
  9. This is quite a week for Barcelona. They only managed a draw against Valencia after being 1-2 down. Then there's tonight. And finally on Saturday a visit to Real Madrid, who have just closed the gap. Hmm.
  10. Henry getting into good positions out on the left and then faffing about. Trying to walk it in.
  11. Milner playing for Barça? Horrid backpass.
  12. I don't want any new winners of the Champions (or old European Cup). Barça v Man Utd final please.
  13. It may have been but more likely a one-off - it was for one of "The Secret Policeman's Ball" concerts.
  14. Huh? Not even sure what that means?.. Sorry, you're quite right. It needed a bit of what, context? On the link below we have some information about grasshoppers (2' 45") followed at 4'00" by the information about giraffes. click here
  15. Yardley used to be in Worcestershire, included Stechford and Hall Green and had a Council House which is now Sparkhill Library. Shropshire Blue cheese originated in Scotland, not Shropshire. During intimacy with Lady Bradman, Sir Donald always wore the cricket pads he wore during his unbeaten 337 in a day at Headingley. If giraffes could leap pound for pound as high as a grasshopper they'd avoid a lot of nasty problems.
  16. Apr 25, 2009 - 06:39 PM ? - I congratulate you sir!
  17. and My, how we seem to have moved on since page 3.
  18. A lot of people have said something similar. I can only speak for myself but I don't worship the ground MON treads or feel there's any faith I have to keep. I think he has made the odd mistake (I went ballistic when I first heard he was sending a weakened squad to Moscow). I wasn't too happy about the lack of proper right backs. Do I want MON as manager? Yes. Do I want him to radically change the way he is or the way he does things? No. So what do i say? No? Undecided? It depends? I said yes. And I said yes because he's the best manager we've had in years and because there's no one else out there I'd rather have as manager. If some insist in seeing totally in black and white that's their prerogative.
  19. Is that old man Trim on the left?
