Nah thats a different deal, they did away with the free wine one ages ago. The Gastro one is permanent and replaced it. Its just Main, Side & starter or desert. Say we wanted the Paella, it used to be £7 and then went up to £8, now when they introduced this deal they pushed it up to a tenner,to encourage you to buy the deal of the other two items but often the sides are wholly inappropriate for the mains so you not only get encourage to buy stuff you don't really want or pay a highly inflated price for the bit you do want. If you still do the deal you say end up buying something else to go with the side you bought

Not playing that game, I just don't bother buying the Paella or whatever else it is that I wanted

Am I reading this right that the main on its own is now a tenner or is that the deal?

As do UberEats, but that's for them. In a way I don't mind that, they have to make money somehow.

But most of the takeaways also charge a delivery fee on top of that.

So your order comes to about £10 and then by the time you've paid everyone's fees it's costing you 14 or 15

Exactly, and with the standard cost of everything going up its just not worth it anymore.

I fancied a subway the other day so i fired up uber eats and the first one on there for me wanted 15 quid for a footlong, drink and snack. once the fees and delivery are added on its about 18 quid 🤣, who on earth is paying that in the current climate. Talk about pricing yourself out of business.

If he was that player, he wouldn't be playing for us! :)

Said the same about Watkins many times as well. If we was a clinical finisher he would be at Real Madrid or City unfortunately. We have to accept player limitations sometimes otherwise we wouldn't be battling for European scraps we would be winning the tournaments.

  4. As others have mentioned already in here there’s so many goods that have reached a tipping point in cost where it’s just not worth it anymore.

KFC - box meal? That’ll be a tenner please plus delivery and fees if ordering online

McDonald’s - special burger? That will be anywhere between 5-7 quid please and the best part of 15 quid for a meal delivered.

Local Indian takeaway, chicken tikka jalfrezi? That’s a tenner please and the best part of 20 quid for a full meal delivered.

Trendy bar in Birmingham, pint of Madri or Moretti that’ll be the best part of 6 quid please or a single rum and coke that 5.50 please.

These are all luxury items and I’m not willing to be ripped off, I would rather go without and I imagine lots more are already there or about to be.

Really looking forward to the race today, whoever wins there’s a story to it. Have a feeling for Russell, don’t think Sainz has the bottle to actually win a race personally.

Fair play Sainz, Ferrari actually pulled something out of the bag for once.

  6. Finally got around to watching Evil Dead: Rise on Saturday night, very good indeed!

Very narrow focused story which helps and both the direction and acting is above average for the genre. Few nods to the originals and a few ideas borrowed from more recent films.

    8/10 for me.

  7. Have to be careful not to overanalyse one bad team performance.

We aren't a team full of world beaters, we will lose games and we will look ordinary at times.

By all means critique the performance but making sweeping statements about how good or bad someone is after two games is just pointless.

I’ve managed to miss Villa and the F1 (watching my son play football).

Villa seems to have been a blessing, was the F1 as shit as usual?

Wasn’t too bad of a race today, not a classic but better than most this season. Helps if you just ignore what Verstappen is doing…

Moreno is very good and I like him but he is not 'way better' than Digne, that's an exaggeration and you know it is. The quality has always been there from Digne, he just never showed it in a Villa shirt. At this current moment in time Digne shouldn't get dropped, four assists in his last two games proves this and he should have had an assist against Everton too. That's good for us as it means we can ease Moreno back in after a lengthy injury.

I think because he was a Gerrard signing that Digne gets a lot of sh*t for no reason, he was one of the best left backs in the league two years ago and showing similar level of form for us now.

He's a lot better for the way we want to play imo.

Digne is fine as rotation and for certain games but Moreno is definitely my preferred option.

Showed why we let him go

Don’t think he had a game anywhere near as bad for us in his second spell, I would have been fuming if I was an Everton fan.

I thought that too. They didn’t wish him luck or anything. The sort of factual statement that players who have forced moves get. Maybe we’re overthinking it but it was noticeably cold.

How much could they say about a player who hasn’t even made an appearance in the prem.

I do think he's going to struggle 1 on 1, was done a bit too easily for that particular chance but on the ball he's miles ahead of our defenders and that's the whole reason we signed him.

I thought the same, early opinion is that he would be best in back 3 where he isn’t the organiser like Mings would be. Maybe that’s Carlos while he’s out?

Not sure if we can utilise him like Stones at Man city? Whatever way we go I’ll trust Unai to use him in the best way for Villa.

At least before the ref got the benefit of having to make a snap decision based on maybe not seeing something clearly. Now they (ref and VAR) have the time, space, replays, multiple angles to make a proper decision and it’s worse than ever. How is that even possible?

All I can think is that the refs snap decision more often than not was the correct one, that’s what came with 5-10 years of prem experience. Now with the benefit of up to 3-4 minutes to pore over it all sorts of bias and precedents come into play and it’s clearly not helping.

Maybe we need to leave VAR to offsides and incidents the ref has totally missed. Everything else is left to the refs on field decision and monitor review if needed.

    Yeah fantastic

    B

Stuff like this never bites us in the back passage

It’s not quite the same villa as the last 10 years where anyone who needed to break a  bad streak or some kind of record was guaranteed to do it against Villa.

I see from the Beeb's football page that mac Allister's red card has been overturned after appeal, what a surprise.....

Feels like they are overturning more reds and apologising for bad decisions more often than before VAR 😂, not sure what that says for this new and improved officiating.

Clearly run by someone who doesn’t understand football.

Feels like they’ve got tunnel vision with regards to the financial side without any thought for how you motivate 20 players all on 8 year contracts.

I still don't really get why they ripped up a team that finished top 4 and recently won a CL to replace it with a load of gambles. Sure the likes of Kante were getting older and probably needed replacing but they pretty much have a new squad. I understand they're going for young players with potential but they're not guaranteed to reach it and there doesn't seem enough experience around them (Silva excepted). For £1BN I would have expected a much higher calibre of player too. Now it might all come good eventually but you can't say it isn't a huge gamble.

It’s a very good point, instead of adding to that team and evolving it they basically started again at the cost of 1bn +, can’t say it’s that surprising it’s failed miserably so far.
