  1. Spot on mate, have been saying this for some time!
  2. Guardiola isn't available at the moment though.
  3. I seem to remember his net spend was very low compared to teams around him. Yes he spent big money sometimes but had very few failures and made a lot of money for the club.
  4. you know why, because it s easier. I work as a freelance writer over here and used to be a full time journo (yes I know like every other VTer). Deadlines are shorter and the pay is crapper, but the demand for content, especially click bait opinion is huge. So what s the easier position? Look at the players we ve lost, the fact TS rode to the rescue last season and this season we have a completely new team, crashing and burning, and take the 'Tim's being shafted' position or look at the end of last season, tactics and formations and the calibre, reputation of players bought in and take the 'Tim's crap' stance. A layman pundit can give you 800 words on the former in around 2 hours, even as a Villa fan the latter is going to take a lot longer to write and would take a lot more work. I think that s why a lot of media opinion backs him - because it's easy. And he seems to have lots of friends in the media. The facts are simple; we took a massive punt on a hugely inexperienced manager and its not worked out. We simply cannot afford to do this. OK we can blame the owner and the hierarchy within the club as much as we like but it does not change the basic competency and capability of the manager. All the empirical evidence points to a manager completely out of his depth and bereft of ideas as to how to reverse the situation. Personally I don't see that changing any time soon. Why oh why would we do this after the shit we have gone through. We needed experience, it was blatently obvious. The Villa job killed off Lambert, who had experience. To think Sherwood could do better was next to unprofessional, an from a man like Tom Fox to make this decision, is worrying. Two things. Desperation and lack of options. Remember this is the same lot who gave Lambert a new contract after 4 good games. The question is are they panicked enough to pull the trigger on Tim.
  5. Today showed that we can compete I just think relying on Gestede is a mistake. Whilst Grealish and Gil are capable of crossing the ball it doesn't play to their strengths. I like the looks of Gueye and think him and Sanchez could be formidable.
  6. Odds are down to 1.5 to be the next manager sacked, looks bleak for him surely.
  7. Costa is lying on top of one of a ours and he lets the play go on??????????????????????????????????????????????????????
  8. If he had played this team (or similar) for all our games I don't think he would of got half the stick. Also the awful subs compounded it.
  9. That's typical Costa, looking to put the boot in afterwards. I've always been convinced that one day it'll come out that teams in the PL have been paying off ref's for years. With the amount of money involved in the premier league I wouldn't be surprised either.
  10. Have seen Guzan try to play football with his feet during training, possibly one of the worst players ever with the ball at their feet. For that alone he needs replacing though everything else is good enough.
  11. Have to admit the ref has been really poor this game, it HAS to be a yellow card for some of those tackles especially in the middle of a counter attack.
  12. I think we've become a fed up fan base now. To many years of underachieving and you will slowly turn into Newcastle/Sunderland fans.
  13. Having Gestede in the side limits us to whacking in shit crosses and hoping for the best (unless amavi gets forward) and benching Grealish and Gil......
  14. Rubbish! Who gives a piss about what Lambert had? He failed. You're so dedicated to the Tim-Is-Root-Of-All-Wrong paradigm, you can't see the bigger picture. In the context of the league, Villa hasn't spent shite. We're #18 in rank -- and in net spending. Not good enough for a team that has barely survived relegation year after year. According to sky, we were 15th in terms of net spend. According to the guardian, we spent the 6th most of all teams. Overall - the fact that we shelled out in excess of 50mil is the important factor here. Ten teams didn't even spend half of that, including all of the recently promoted ones. And I think we actually bought well too - lots of talented young players who are finding their feet in this league. It doesn't matter how you look at it - it's not a shoestring. That's such hyperbolic rubbish, I felt compelled to put that right. yeah but the difference is others spending 20 million to improve their squads. We had to spend 50 million to at best break even with the players we lost. Delph Cleverley Benteke Vlaar. Randy needed to pull his finger out and give us 20 milion on top and we should have aimed for a few more proven quality. A striker to replace Benteke worth 10-15 million. Not having to spread the 50 million to fill our squad as we let go 13 players. I agree though.. the money we did have we did spent it well.. i think when a new manager comes in we will see the real players we bought. When they are actually given proper instructions to do rather than this tactical mess we are now experiencing. That is the key point right there, losing a player like Benteke and not replacing him with a goal scorer. Obviously were not asking for a player of equal skill but someone who can put the ball in the back of the net. With the right game plan and tactics our team is a competitive squad.
  15. What makes you think we're improving? We won our first game and we've lost 6 out of 7 since then. @Stefan, is there anything anyone could say to convince you of this? I sort of doubt it. As I've said, I think we're playing more fluidly, with sometimes great pace, and the our players are showing more situational awareness of one another. They're playing more like a team. It ain't perfect. I don't think the whole ship is ready to sail, and there are worrying leaks. I also think Tim's subs have messed things up often -- maddeningly so, at times. But I think the players are getting better as a group, and I'm certain Tim has something to do with that. I have a sneaking suspicion you're going to think what I just wrote is total bollocks. What are you basing this on, after we went 1-0 down and stoke let us come at them more. I am struggling to see where your getting this from.
  16. Thanks for the laugh, needed that after yesterday.
  17. Seems like there's a limited amount of bookmakers on any manager to be sacked next. Can still get 25/1 for Sherwood to be the next one to go. Edit: Ok seems something is happening as everything is being suspended now.
  18. A very good question. Given those games 5 points would be enough for me to buy him extra time, even 4 would be a reasonable return. Unfortunately even that number of points is likely to leave us a long way adrift which is why I think we need to act now. I think if we aren't more than 4 or 5 pts adrift by christmas we can still get enough points in the second half of the season to stay up. Its not ideal, but with a completely new squad, it was always going to take time for Sherwood to work out his best team, and tactics and for the team to gel. Ok he tried something different saturday to get the service to Gestede but it backfired. Hopefully he learns from that and actually gets back to the formation we had at Leicester when we played so well first half. Except he doesn't seem to be learning or accepting he's making any mistakes. It may be the case he's slowing learning the job but were not in the position to be taking risks like that. I don't think that's true at all. Losing these games doesn't mean he or the team aren't learning. That's not how learning always works. Learning can be holistic and cyclical. There's no doubt the team is getting better. You don't think Sherwood has anything to do with that? The team is getting better? Oh yes dropping Gil and Grealish to the bench and making Hutton our creative outlet is a masterstroke from Sherwood. You can read. Yep, utterly no question. Does that mean we should keep Sherwood forever? No. Does that mean we are guaranteed to win our next three games? No. Does that mean I am happy with Sherwood or agree with his subs? No. And no. But yes, I stand by my remark, and I doubt I'm alone in seeing the improvements. Then please elaborate how the team is getting better, did you even watch the stoke game?
  19. The team line up on Saturday suggests he's lost confidence in himself and when that happens to a manager like Sherwood its time to get rid. Its harsh treatment but he's turned out to be a confidence manager and that is always short lived.
  20. I don't think we are done but some serious changes need to be made asap. I feel the one thing that were missing is a proper goal scorer, I just don't understand his plan with Gestede he's not good enough to replicate what Benteke did for us and even then we only just survived.
