  1. why sign them then ? surely Lambert knew what league they'd be playing in ?, or maybe thats why he's dragging us down so they wont look so shit in the Championship that would be a managerial masterstroke What I should have added here was that the signings must emphasise the limitations lambert has to work with (for now), he still had high wage earners on the bill, so couldn't add more, and needed to offload players before he could spend his limited budget. He couldn't guarantee the bomb squad would be gone so he had to compensate and he certainly couldn't wait last minute to get his deals done. Not the best way to go about things but stop solely blaming Lambert he's not the only guy in this club.
  2. Most people seem to be forgetting that most of the players signed by lambert have come from nowhere and are now playing in, arguably, the most challenging league in the world. That's a huge step up. What did you expect? Another Ronaldo to come waltzing out of Lech Poznan?
  3. I thought Delph played well Delph was practically invisible until he had a shot in the 80th minute that went straight at the keeper. Seriously? He made some good runs, obviously the ball was eventually lost by whoever received the pass, he made some great tackles and a vital stop just outside the box. I was stood in the upper Holte and i saw that! He probably stood out because everyone else was… well you know.
  4. Yes that's right, lambert isn't responsible for coaching the players that he bought. Lambert doesn't pick the team, didn't buy a striker when we needed a creative midfielder, isn't responsible for the poor tactics. All of that is Lerner's fault ! What drivel. Everyone makes mistakes jesus. He bought shit players because he's got a shit budget. Mourinho and the like have it easy because who the **** doesn't notice players everyone RAVES on about and then their owner gives them 50 mil!! AVFC IS A CHALLENGE. Like on football manager (jesus christ i actually went there) They mostly ignored Lambert. Has he lost the dressing room?? I don't believe that for a second. Quite the opposite in fact. At the final whistle today he went on to the pitch and to a man shook hands with or embraced all the players. I found both that and the jubilant way he spoke on the radio interviews afterwards quite worrying. He acted like it was a job well done for the team when in fact we'd held out for a draw at home against Swansea and had just 27% possession and one decent shot on target all game. The bar seems to have hit rock bottom and that result/performance today is now seen as an achievement. Not an achievement more like a well done or trying hug.
  5. what are you on about lambert cant see anything he wont imorove us he will relegate us wiah peopl would face facts Im EMPATHISING im not blind or deluded, I'm merely being realistic. Who else is gunna do a better job!? Also you'd notice i put if he IS doing that much of a bad job we can replace him otherwise a different manager is gunna come in with the SAME resources as Lambert and will then need time to get to know every one… Im scared about either way this goes to be perfectly honest with you. I'm neither here nor there.
  6. The way the players and Gabby ran to the coaching team today - they obviously get on well. It's an important relationship and that's kinda when i realized that, yes although times are a bit shit, i want Lambert to stay and prove himself. The effort is all there, its the lack of quality that's the problem. If Lambert had a decent budget he'd get a quality squad together. But he doesn't so that's why its a long term project for him - as of now. Im just praying Lerner sells soon and Lambert has what he needs from some football fanatic billionaire not some American 'soccer franchise' clearing in the woods. Also let's not forget this is still the same team that went five games undefeated, and previous to that beat Citeh and Arsenal. Call it luck - who the F*ck really cares it's a win and you were all celebrating when it happened. Lambert's not stupid he can see where the problems are but this squad is what he has. Also I've gotta point out theres 9/10 teams in the same position as us …. most spent more. If he really does that bad come the summer then hey no one will complain when he leaves/gets sacked.
  7. Seriously guys who the hell is this Bowery fella?!
  8. I hope it's true and he has targets lined up as we need them ASAP interesting that it names 3 positions aswell. I'd like CB cover and a DM aswell though! We need definitive roles in midfield that much is obvious. CM, CAM, CDM etc
  9. “The club is miles from where I want it to be, an absolutely country mile, and you want to take it right through to the levels. To do that you need to keep building it and adding quality to it and adding at every turn,” he said. “I don’t want to be sitting like this every time [after a defeat]. If you want to fight it you fight it, I’m not going to run away from it. “There’s always pressure even if you are on a winning run. In football now you get one or two games, the way football management is, it’s always the case. If you’ve lost two games, not won for two games, there’s a crisis there, it’s got more and more shorter. We’ve got to turn the home form around. There’s no magic formula. The lads are edgy at certain things but they have to overcome that and they can.” - Paul Lambert This is from the telegraph.

  11. Another striker on his list?! Unless Benteke is being sold, how many strikers does he need? Its just a link don't take it too seriously just yet haha!
  12. Whittingham? That's if we finish above Cardiff and a bigger club don't come and snap him up.
  13. Like who? De bruyne, KP Boateng, Ince De Bruyne is quality, how much did Chelski cash out for him? Ince will be over priced i imagine (for us anyway) and KP Boateng is out of our league
  14. Problem sacking Lambert is getting a DECENT manager that will get the most out of this squad and build an effective team alongside Lerner and his staff and at the moment i don't think that can happen. Lerner needs to go first before this club can start to flourish again.
  15. In other news Malky Mackay has just been sacked.
  16. Anyone who wants to argue AT each other, rather than constructively discussing opinions etc, should go on Facebook and twitter and bicker there. It's boring to read/scroll and id rather learn about the fans opinions on our club.
  17. Agree. "Young and hungry" needs to be refined. You can't have this at the expense of fielding a substandard team. You can still buy quality at the right age where they can be sold at a profit before they get too old. Not for a couple of million or less though. If HH is correct that january activity will be limited to 1 loan signing then this needs to be reviewed also. Not good enough. Hopefully todays result will influence this. What I can't see a way out of is the dire, or lack of tactics. I refuse to accept that every outfield player is incapable of simple pass and move basics. If HH is correct this also implies to me that Lerner truly is thinking "well done Lambert keep them in the league with this tiny budget so i can scrape my money back and get the hell outta here." Which could be seen as a good thing when he finally leaves. how much is the club worth now? how much if relegated? the cost of investment now should be considered insurance against the risk of loss of the value of the club if relegated, or am I missing something? It should indeed! Im sure he's considered that and thinks 'he's done/doing enough' to keep the club in the prem.

  19. Well anyway unfortunately as fans theres only a limited amount we can do. Considering this is the team we have , and the situation we're in (for the meantime) all we can do is verbally kick these boys up the arse and hope to motivate them. I like to think if we're fecking loud enough they might at least put in a good shift to win for us. Voice your opinions by all means but don't put down the lads we want to win for our club in front of them. If I'm at work and customers are coming in moaning, i don't feel I'm being backed and none wants me to achieve then id probably have a shit day. Hopefully they give us something to sing about because i know theres no way the fans at VP are gunna sing and get nothing back for 90 minutes. But you get the message.
  20. This is true as well!! Its not like the team has changed since then!!
  21. Yes but why did he sign players that weren't good enough? Because they were cheap. Why did he sign cheap players? Because he doesn't have the funds to create a team he truly wants, only a team he can afford. He didn't take the job thinking that he would sign players that were crap. He knew there were restrictions but he agreed to them. He wasn't forced into taking the job either. He gets little sympathy from me on that part. The fact is we lack desire and belief, regardless of ability. Those 2 things the manager of the club should have control over irrespective of available funds. This is true.
