  1. According to Talksport. So believe what you will. Personally I don't think we've actually offered the job to a single manager yet.
  2. The closer this thing rolls on to July, the more chance IMO that we'll be getting Mark Hughes.
  3. Eyes. . . . bleeding. Punctuation seeping out . . . of. . . the . . .world You missed a full stop at the end there.
  4. Robbie Martin's claret and blue army. Done.
  5. Why has betting been suspending? Come on, someone had to say it. Daily tradition now.
  6. Martinez is on holiday. Why would he get his own manager off a well-deserved break to interview for another club?
  7. Whelan claimed in his Telegraph interview that: Now unless Randy has also flown Martinez out to Corsica (why not just interview him somewhere here?), then we are also looking at other candidates. Therefore Martinez is not a certainty. But who knows.
  8. Posts from earlier for those who missed them. Macbhx is the person who started all of this, he tweeted that Randy's jet had left Birmingham airport He did but it turned out to be true. CLEVELAND BROWNS TRANSPORTATION LLC (BEREA OH) This aircraft (N85CL) is not available for tracking per request from the owner/operator That's my airplane! How do I track my airplane on FlightAware? If you need access to your blocked aircraft on FlightAware or are having trouble with another provider (due to recent changes in data availability), please click the link above or contact FlightAware at +1-800-713-8570 for direct access to your flight data As the original tracker of Mr Lerner's jet, I can vouch for the credibility of Macbhx, he's not a bad lad :winkold: The 'blocking' of same jet on FlightAware and other such sites was a result of it being tracked during the takeover of 2006. The owner probably (rightly) thought that too much was known. But Macbhx and I have access to other sources.... Judging by what the Air Transport Oracle, Aka TheTrees has said, I would conclude the answer to that be "Affirmative!" High praise indeed but, much as Macca is a top Villa boy, I thought that I would check, and I think that he may have been thrown a red herring by the handling agent at BHX. The aircraft actually went to Corsica, which is where it went when he was hiring Gerard Houllier.
  9. Hi General, As always, we are never going to get a consensus on who the right manager to bring in would be. I think it was certainly the right decision to part ways with Gerard Houllier, given his health problems and the season he had at the helm. I've got my own personal list of candidate preferences, but whatever happens I'll give the new manager some time to show how they can take us forward. It's the least they deserve. But more importantly, it's fantastic to hear another chairman in the league publicly applauding our ownership over the way they conduct business: So thanks to everyone involved at the top to ensure we maintain the high level of integrity that we have been lucky enough to have in the past five years. heystally!
  10. Just like Hughes was @ 1/20 or Rafa @ 1/2 or McClaren @ 6/5....I wouldn't take any notice. Hughes was really at 1/20 at some point? Bookies must be loving this at the moment.
  11. Based on recent developments on Oddschecker, my thinking is that Martinez will be our next manager. Betting with Victor Chandler and William Hill is at 4/7, Paddy Power is at 1/2, and Red32 quickly shifted to 1/9 and then suspended their betting. Obviously it's all based on the amount of bids, but it's all becoming a bit odds on. EDIT: Ha, and as I say that, Red32 go back to 16/11. I love the fluctuation of this market, no one really knows for sure who's gonna get the job!
  12. I didn't realise Randy was on Twitter.
  13. My mum's a vegetarian so I don't think she'd be too keen on a fish supper.
  14. Or he knows nothing and just wanted you to buy The Sun? In other news, Martin O'Neill is at 20/1 with Skybet.....
  15. Stoke City are the most boring and disgraceful team to ever play in the Premier League. Never have I seen a team FROM THE KICKOFF try to constantly get the ball as far back to just hoof it in the air, play to just get set pieces, and then kick the other team up in the air when not in possession. Absolutely disgusting to watch. I'm not saying every team should try and emulate Barcelona, but Stoke City and their dick of a manager need to **** off and the sooner the better.
  16. Hi General, I want to try and make this post as sincere but also professional as possible. Like many others I am pretty downbeat about our performances and our manager, and how the combination of both has put us in the position we are in. But I want to put this point across in a sensible manner, using the game against Wolves as a clear example of our predicament. A couple of posts ago, you talked about the fans going out and supporting the team, that pointing fingers and moaning won't do any good and the only way to help the team turn a corner is to cheer our club on with 100% passion. I couldn't agree more. I do believe that on a match day, the negativity coming from the crowd will do little to change the situation. Occasionally it can give them a kick up the backside, but not when confidence is as low as it is now. The lads need encouragement, not criticism. But what needs to be understood is that this is difficult for the fans. Not just because we know we can be doing better, and that we should be doing better. But because we are seeing absolutely no passion, commitment or support for the team coming from our manager. Of course we don't know what happens behind closed doors. I'm choosing to ignore the rumours of bans on talking, cellphones, etc, and leave them to be rumours. But what we can see if Gerard Houllier's attitude whilst he is on the touchline. And his attitude is appauling. Take the example of our game against Wolves (I'm not sure if you were there or not, but I was). In the last five minutes, the linesman got injured and had to be replaced, resulting in a brief lull in play. With five minutes to go, the score still at 0-1, and we've just hit the bar, you'd think there is all to play for still. Mick McCarthy called about eight of his players over, and started giving them instructions. He wanted his players to know exactly how they should play in the last five minutes of that game to get themselves a huge result in their fight for survival. That passion and leadership would have filled those players with such confidence that they eventually did get themselves three vital points. Compare that to Gerard Houllier. He did not move from his seat. He had no intention of telling his players how to try and break down the Wolves defence and get ourselves a goal back, if not two. As such, our players just stood around the pitch, hands on hips, not even talking amongst themselves. It was clear we had problems. In those last five minutes we seemed happy to launch balls from back to front, despite Richard Stearman and Christophe Berra winning nearly every header for the previous 85 minutes. It was a tactic that was never going to get an equaliser. We would have stood more chance getting the ball out wide, to our best crossers, and putting in more accurate and testing balls. It would seem that Houllier was then satisfied with the way his team were playing. A manager should rarely be satisfied with his team. He should always be looking at ways to improve, to get better performances and better results. But not our manager, not judging by the way he sat in his seat, not interested in rallying his troops to push for a draw or a win. And it showed on the pitch. So it's fine to tell the fans to get behind the team, it's entirely right to do so. It's the best thing we can do to try and support our team. But it is difficult when our manager shows no sign of doing it himself. Gerard Houllier showed no desire to try and get something out of those last five minutes. As such the players showed no desire. So why should the fans? Support is a two way street. The players and manager need the support of the fans to play their best, but if we see no desire, passion, commitment, then we the fans find it very difficult to support the team. We have real problems General. And it starts with the manager. So if we the fans are going to do our part to support the team, maybe it's necessary for someone to tell Gerard Houllier to start doing the same. Even if it's just for show, so that fans actually believe we have a manager who is caring for the club. Maybe then, we'll start seeing a more positive atmosphere on matchdays. Best wishes, J
  17. Roads only take you so far.
  18. I heard somewhere that a good chat up line is: "Dance with me or I'll shit in your handbag."
  19. You and me? Me and alf? Yes, you and alf.
  20. Best show on telly for me (for USA), Great show.. Look forward to it every week. Although it wouldn't be half as good if Neil Patrick Harris wasn't in it. But luckily he is, so it's all good. I got the entire boxset of Frasier for Christmas. I'm currently on Season 10 of 11. Such a fantastic series, although I've only come across one episode that I haven't seen before.
  21. I was on the football team, cricket team and basketball team in high school. So naturally the P.E. teacher put me straight into the rugby team. Trained once as a winger, and when I first got the ball and sprinted for a try I got told that "your team has to pass the ball x number of times before scoring". I thought "well this is bollocks" and never played again. For the best, I'd probably get eaten alive on the field.
  22. Haha I think being blunt would be brilliant with Jehovahs. Although my housemate at Uni took that approach with a charity worker. Something to the effect of "I actually couldn't care about your charity".
  23. Me and the other half are saving too. It's all about the meal-at-home scenario to keep her pleased yet save the dolla.
