  1. But they were shocking goals to concede. Complete lack of organisation in our defence at set pieces today. Warnock overall was terrible, and not for the first time in the last few weeks. We just look like such a bad team. McLeish is consistently playing our players out of position. Heskey is not an attacking midfielder. Bannan is not a right winger. Just terrible decisions. And after playing long-ball football all season long with a 20-goals-a-season striker, the first time we play some passing football it's when he's injured. We looked clueless passing in midfield - no movement, no desire. It would have been perfect if we were two goals up but we weren't. Our two criteria to getting a manager were: 1) one who will be happy spending no money, and 2) one with Premier League experience. I just think we need to lose that second one. I'd much rather get a younger, ambitious manager from the Championship or League 1, someone to come in and use the players we have now but give them some energy, and a desire to play attractive football. Swansea did it with Martinez, and that has carried on with Rodgers. We need a full transition, write off this season and start building again, but with a manager who has a bright future, not just someone with Premier League experience who can steady a sinking ship.
  2. Yeah, say Darren Bent is signing, giving away too much information and getting himself sacked for leaking information. It was like the day before the signing and he said "Meltdown signing on the way". He posts what he can. If you don't believe it then that's your decision. But stop trying to drag down respected posters. You might get yourself a bit of respect in the process.
  3. Mysteryman just posts what he knows is being spoken about and coming out of Villa Park. I don't think anyone could really say for sure how this whole new manager saga is going to end. Look at the bookies odds. Up and down, new favourites then drop to the bottom. No one knows for certain! In addition Mysteryman has been pretty damn accurate about a fair few things in the past. He was the one who told this board there would be a meltdown signing in January, and then we went and signed Bent for double our record transfer fee! He's a true Villa fan. Those banners you see around Villa park? On the North Stand and Holte End? He got those up there. He could potentially get into trouble for passing on what little info he sees going on, but does so for our benefit. And now he doesn't post on this forum because despite doing these decent things he gets shit thrown his way. I can understand why he wanted to no longer post here. Makes me want to no longer post here too.
  4. Stop getting on like a child mate. MM was in ITK! While I don't know much about YorkshireCoop, I am willing to listen to what he has to say. Lets face it if he isn't ITK then big deal, it would be just one more person talking crap in this thread. Round and round and round and round. Circles... Chris (YorkshireCoop) has posted on here a fair few years now, and works with ex-players for hospitality events and such. He's not the kind of person who would either claim to know exactly what is happening, or to make stuff up for the sake of attention. Any slamming of him on here is pathetic.
  5. I think Everton would probably release that statement.
  6. Some on that ridiculous "We don't want McLeish page" has said that Talksport have announced that a statement will be made tonight and it won't be something that Villa fans will like. Everyone else there has taken that as McLeish is coming to Villa. Probably just means a new contract for Moyes? Or Talksport talk shit.
  7. And do what with him exactly? Hmmm? I'd give it to him so hard. The job I mean. And not that kind of job.
  8. Mistakes from the board have led to this and sparked the attitude of some. Perhaps. But perhaps those people should also stop taking the information that Sky Sports gives out as the gospel.
  9. Sky Sports in another "we don't have a **** clue about anything" shocker. Not even bothering to report that McLeish quit because of board issues. Still want to run the Villa link story.
  10. Explain? If I have to explain its not funny. Am I the only one that gets this?! Nope!
  11. I hope McLeish gets the Villa job. Then I have an excuse to rape him.
  12. Moxley works for the Daily Mail. That's the equivalent of working for Hitler working for Satan. I'd ignore everything he reports.
  13. IF villa were after mcleish we'd have asked the scum for permission to speak, him resigning just makes no sense in a related to villa way thats not how the board do things is it. We ask Blues to speak to him. Blues tell us that we can't. McLeish is unhappy so resigns, paving the way for free talks. Hmm.
  14. This entire manager situation is incredible. McLeish FTW.
  15. Absolutely agree that it's a big risk, but in my opinion (and many others) so was Houllier. Even without hindsight taking a manager with previous ill health who's been out of English football for eight years was a risk. I think Randy is willing to take a risk if he thinks the manager is the right man for the club and team. I think Martinez would have been a risk. Young, not won anything, average success at Wigan. Making inquiries into Martinez might be a hint that actually we are looking for someone young, talented, to try and create something long-lasting, rather than straight up experience.
  16. Is anyone on here completely against the idea of bringing in a manager from this country with absolutely no Premier League experience? It might be hard to take but we might be looking at the start of an entirely new era here at Aston Villa. It looks like Young is going to Man Utd, it's possible we could lose Downing too. We are apparently unwilling to spend a huge amount of money to try and play catch up with the teams above us (if rumours about Benitez are true that is). By the sounds of things, we're back to the start of a rebuilding process which took place once Martin O'Neill took over. Except this time we won't be replacing the entire team/squad, but using some very talented youngsters in our first team. If the likes of Delph, Bannan, Albrighton, Clark, etc are going to get more of a look in this year, then we have to lower our expectations of where we are going to be in the short-term, and prepare ourselves for greater success in a few years time. So is it completely wrong to want a young manager to come in and try and build a lasting legacy here at this club? Moyes came from the Championship and has done that at Everton. And if it weren't for losing some quality players here and there they could well be marching on the top four (the likes of Rooney is a big loss obviously). It'd be difficult to hold onto top quality youngsters but if we can bring in a young talented manager that can keep the squad together then we could really have the chance to make some moves in the next five years. I'm not making suggestions, and I'm not saying I'm happy that in the space of a season we seem to have regressed five years. But it's just something we might have to get used to.
  17. I'm sure if they wanted McLeish or Grayson they'd have made contact and interviewed them or been rejected the chance by the club etc. The idea of waiting a couple of weeks is that we don't have to make a shit appointment. If we don't manage to secure our very top targets in the next couple of weeks, then we have a good chance of getting Mark Hughes.
  18. I think I'd rather the club took their time and made the right appointment, rather than jumped at the chance to hire a manager and make the wrong appointment. But judging by a lot of posts recently, there's a number of people who just want a manager signed now. Ridiculous really. Why not just go and get Steve McClaren now, because he'd clearly take the job? I'm happy Lerner and Faulkner are not just going to jump at getting a shit manager and get it over with. Fulham got Jol. Well done to them, a manager I rate highly. But chances are he wanted to go back to the capital more than anywhere. We might have even approached him over the possibility but knocked us back. We don't know. So people should stop making assumptions that our board aren't acting quickly enough. The longer this thing rumbles on until July, I'd say the higher the chance that we'll end up appointing Mark Hughes. And that wouldn't be an all together bad thing. Decent manager. Ideally we'd want him sooner than that, but I'd rather get Hughes in July than McClaren this week. I mean the players are still on holiday! This is not the same as having no manager five days before the season.
