  1. Snow's coming down heavily here in Aldridge, even if it clears up north it may prove difficult to get out of the Midlands!
  2. Same as above for me. We need an away goal(s), so two up top I think.
  3. Updated after Blackburn at home in the FA Cup. NRC wins me £40 in the sweepstake for receiving the 1st (and only for Villa) yellow of the game.
  4. Updated after Liverpool at home. Dunne picks up 2nd yellow of the season.
  5. Table updated after Arsenal away. A Young picks up 5th yellow so is suspended for Liverpool at home on Tuesday. Cuellar and Delph ( ) also booked so now walk the tight rope along with Gabby on 4 yellows.
  6. Don't! If you're going to drive, you're best off to park on the outskirts of London and get the tube in.
  7. This was the case last season and it did. However, that's the big difference for me this season - we are playing well and getting our just rewards. Particularly since Milner has moved into the middle / Downing has come into the side we've played some great stuff. We did for the first half hour in this game too. After that it became a bit of a slog but we got the 3 points at the end of the day.
  8. Rage Against The Machine were Christmas number 1, because James Milner said so.
  9. No changes after Stoke game. Ash and Gabby free to play Arsenal. Hopefully they'll avoid getting booked during that game so they can also play against Liverpool. Might be worth getting booked in that so they then miss the FA Cup game which they could be rested for anyway.
  10. Really pleased with that. We looked good in patches in the first half hour and obviously got the break through in the second half. I thought Stoke played quite well, but for all the shots they had they didn't once hit the target. That was of course apart from the disallowed goal, which at the time looked harsh to me, but the whistle clearly went before he headed it into the net. Carew could have blinded someone kicking the flag into the crowd!!! Defensively we were great again. 4 wins and clean sheets in a row! Whilst Ash and Downing weren't on top form, they created the only goal of the game.
  11. Coca Cola Cup 94 (aged 9) and 96 (aged 11). Went to the FA Cup Semi in 2000, but not the final
  12. You ARE the special one This is what Newcastle sung with a slight variation.....and then they sold him I heard a couple of lads singing it at Sunderland away last season. Would love it if we could get it going.
  13. I have to say, whilst at the game I couldn't see what they were getting so worked up about. Having watched the Football First highlights today, the only decision that they felt hard done by that I'd agree with them on was when Warnock took Bent out after he'd crossed, before we went to the other end and hit the bar with Downing's free kick. The others - the 2 bookings for Cana, the 2 or 3 fouls on Gabby (one of which should have been a penalty but can understand the ref not seeing it), the foul on Petrov, the 'disputed' throw in were all the correct decisions.
  14. I keep hearing/reading people saying this. If we don't beat Stoke in a game we're expected to win, then it's good that we won other games that we weren't expected to win because they cancel each other out. If we win all of them then we're laughing!
  15. Table updated after Sunderland away. Milner and L Young join another 5 players now on 3 yellow cards.
  16. Well that was worth the 8+ hours spent on a coach last night! I've not known a 90 mins go by so quickly, it flew by. What can you say about Jimmy's goal? I thought as he hit it, "why not?" but I wasn't expecting it to go in when it smashed into the top corner I couldn't believe it. With regards to there being 'only' 700 of us there, well I couldn't really give a shit what the Sunderland fans, or anyone else for that matter, thinks. I've said on here before that I wouldn't care if I was the only one there, as long as I'm there. I thought we generated a good atmosphere and the boys on the pitch did us proud with some really good, entertaining football. A more than deserved victory. Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to see the Villa win away HEY!
  17. Really looking forward to this. Just willing the next hour at work away so I can make my way up north. Gonna be a cold one. Come on you Lions!!!!
  18. A good read indeed. However, this line made my laugh!
  19. Oh my days!!!! I think we all, or some of us, had a feeling we might do something in this one but never really believed it would happen because of the Man Utd rule. I drove up on there on my own as I couldn't convince anybody to fork out the cash for what was another expected defeat. I am so so glad I went anyway. The last 10 minutes brought back all the same feelings as last season where I kept telling my mate "we're not going to win it", "we're not going to win it". Sure enough we didn't. We were all saying last night, "you know what's coming"....but it didn't. I don't think I've ever gone so mental as I did at that final whistle. I'm 25, that's the first time we've won there in my lifetime!! I raced back to Brum to see a gig at The Flapper where my mates, brothers, cousins who are all Villa were at. What a **** night. I've had a grin on my face since 7.15pm last night. The whole way back on the M6, the rest of the night, when I went to sleep, when I woke up and still now. I LOVE ASTON VILLA FOOTBALL CLUB!!!!
  20. Table updated. Luke Young gets booked in an HISTORIC win!!!!
  21. James Collins Twitter - "Back in the villa squad today.....buzzing, hate being injured!!!!"
  22. I'd like to think this is our time, we're due a win etc etc.......but I gave up on that line of thinking 6 or 7 years ago. The last time we beat them in the league ('95) was the day I met my best mate and I feel like I've known him forever. So yet again I'll be going to OT in hope rather than expectation.
  23. There's some good highlights of the game on thefa.com front page, about half way down on the left hand side.
