Second goal was poor from him, didn't react to danger which was their CF completely unmarked in six yard box and surprise surprise he scored the header. If cross was on other side Young would've tucked in and attempted to challenge.

Not sure what he could've done for third.

He was too high, jogged back and no warning for Mings.

  2. I thought he was really good in the final third yesterday, but you cant excuse the defending on 2 of the goals. I can excuse mistakes to a certain point, but i think his mistakes was lack of desire and the reason he was dragged off imo.

So looking at Dembele's stats in his "good" season.

He did score 21 goals but he was also supplied with 40+ chances finishing most from inside the box.

Do people really think he's going to come here and get that level of service also in a higher standard of league?

I think he will struggle to hit double figures.

Its not about individuals though its making the team better at scoring and creating goals. Look at United with Ronaldo everyone waas focused with feeding Ronaldo everyone else stopped scoring. Its almost echoing at city to a ceartain degree where Arsenal have a forward like that share the workload and goals. Its why Ings was ultimatly shipped out, his team play wasnt what Emery wanted. 3 players with 10 goals is better than one with 15 and a couple with 5.

I've seen this from a few people. Was Gerrard really instrumental in signing Kamara? Surely he's exactly the kind of player we'd have been chasing anyway?

IMO Gerrard has been really really bad for Villa and there aren't really any silver linings, because we probably could have replaced Smith with a manager of Emery's stature about a year before he arrived. And avoided throwing silly money at Digne, Coutinho, etc., instead focusing on younger prospects.

Gerrard has set us back 1 or 2 years, and the only reason we see any positives is we've always had a fair bit of money to spend on transfers, so of course we've brought in some decent players. But **** the word removed.

It’s a lot easier to say as a player the manager convinced me and I want ti play for him rather than £150k a week was way more than anyone else offered me.

Really interesting comments by Mings on 'learning completely new things under a foreign manager'.

Sounds obvious I guess, but he sounded sincere in basically saying, at last, we've got an elite manager and finally we're learning about tactics.

I missed that. It’s always better to challenge people this way rather than to say they’re shit and throwing them under the bus.

  6. Nice little cameo today, a few nice passes and got stuck in. Lets rememeber Coutiniho was also playing in a Gerrardball team and given the the ball in the right areas could bring out the best in him.

Who has said that, given it’s “literally”

Who has said this or thinking this?

    Who?

Maybe there maybe one person on here who has come close to indicating this type of player but I can’t remember somebody saying it, certainly not me.

It just feels on here that if some of us feel that we can do better that some who love some of our players think we suddenly want the best players in the world in each position.  We never expect any of that but we can acquire better players like we did with Martinez, like we did with Kamara, like we did with Carlos….we can attract quality that is better than what we have without them being the best players in the world.

Weve brought in one quality player a season. We probably need to speed this up while Keeping Martinez and Kamara (im not ready to judge Carlos yet) We will need to upgrade wide areas, Centre back and someone to play WITH Ollie before Ollie upgraded. As i said thats maybe 18 months to 2.5 years away and i think Emery likes him and his type of player, which is good enogh for me.

See, making assumptions again.  Firstly Haaland, now Jesus, trying to put words in my mouth.  Let’s agree to disagree.

Well Jesus is always the worst finisher in the Premier League year on year. I was taking the piss with Haarland.

Your sample size of 5 games is statistically too small.  We know from our own eyes and longer sample sizes that he’s not a finisher of good quality.  You know very well that if he had scored one of those first half chances it may have been a different game.  Generally his ability is finish is poor at the level he’s at.  You can quote a very small sample size all you want, you can say I’m in cloud cuckoo land but many on here and at the ground have very similar views on him.  It may be you in cuckoo land clinging onto to hope he’s going to be sufficient for us.

You would bin Jesus at Arseanl too would't you? Ollie has been "sufficient" in the past played his way into the England squad. His finsihing isn't the best part of his game i agree but theres also what he does when running the line. Is he a top 6 striker... no he isnt, but then this isnt a top 6 squad and Ollie is way down the line of replacment imo. As i said before its who we get to play with him first.

You always say we need to get a striker to replace Watkins since the dawn of time, but you never suggest a name. I think deep down you know we can't get better than Watkins that's why you never say who we should sign to be our new striker.

In the 4-4-2/4-2-2-2 it would be to play with Ollie first anyway.

The problem for your take here is that the worse you rate his shooting ability, the better the decision to pass it was. If he 'has no confidence in his shooting' (maybe!) then clearly passing it to the world's best finisher was a good plan.

Well its the same really. The lack of confidence or ability in his finsihing means it was the right thing to do but also shows his short comings. He has 4 premier league goals for City and most of them wins of over 5 goals.

So you are saying the next best striker after Haaland is Watkins 😂😂😂. There is a whole raft of strikers in between those two in terms of quality.  Never understand why people go to extremes when trying that argument.

No my point is very few score more than 3 in 5. Watkins' xg vs Liverpool was 0.68, your in cloud cuckoo land if you think many strikers are bagging a lot more.

    This is a strange take.

Haaland absolutely was expecting it. He was running and calling for that exact pass.

The reason it nearly got stuck under his feet was because it wasn't actually a very good pass by Grealish.

Still, choosing to criticise him for doing the right thing in that situation is very strange

Its easy to say its the right thing because it ended up as a goal. He has no confidence in his shooting. 2 assists and 1 goal this season (less than Dougie) is excactly why he's struggling at city to say it isnt is just silly really. Foden, Silva and Mahrez all shoot and probably score there and its why Jack plays against Leeds rather than Madrid or Liverpool.

Rather we get a new striker that is more suited to the strikers role that can convert the chances that we are making.  Great that he’s scored three but given the chances he’s had it should’ve been more and another striker would’ve had more.  Let’s not kid ourselves that just because he’s scored three, that it was a good return on the opportunities he’s had recently, plus it’s a very small sample size because I can’t believe that anybody thinks we can’t improve on him if we want to be a top half team.  If he’d done better in the first half against Liverpool it could’ve been a different game.  Goals make difference in games and taking a first half opportunity could’ve seen a different outcome.

Who the hell do you want bloody Haaland ffs?

his situation worries me.....I can't see him being with us long.

Dosent worry me we would get big £££ for him and his position is easier to replace than Grealish is that Smith team.
