Agree, his stats are okay, and will look better when we get an easier run of games. He's always going to be a frustrating player who misses chances, but he does get plenty of chances.
He's always under performed his xg slightly, (not to Jesus levels) but under Gerrard we created so few chances he would snatch a lot more imo. If he knows he will keep getting chances i think he will relax and will start netting more often.

Not really. Smith’s downfall wasn’t just about the loss of Grealish, it was more a product of his tactical failings and shortcomings. He didn’t start Buendia initially or played him in a 10 role (not as a winger at Norwich), had issues with Bailey and scapegoating Mings for the defensive failings. The constant formation tinkering was just as disruptive. Let’s not re-write the script of his failings post-Grealish because he’s one of us. Smith had hit his ceiling and was rightfully sacked for those reasons. You cannot gain just 40 points from 36 games and expect to stay manager.
To be perfectly honest its both.

Ollie has 3 goals and an assist in the 5 games since Gerrardball left (when he would maybe get a half chance every 2/3 games) maybe we should layoff the lad a bit and back him for the rest of the season.

Sportsmanship is a virtue. His pelvic thrusts with his award on stage post match disrespects his opponent and his hosts.
Good especially the hosts.

My dads racist, so despite being a Villa fan he can’t stand Mings and continually singles him out for criticism.
Now I can’t say that is therefore the same for everyone else who singles him out on here but there’s a real world example of what I believe tends to be the fundamental issue that those who single him out have.
Its no coincidence the noise around Mings got louder after the BLM march and how vocal he was around the movement.

To improve, he needs to stay on the ball a bit more.
He has a tendency to lose possession too easily, in dangerous positions to the team, to be rated much higher.
I think its something, he can improve on, some tweaks and he can be up there, with the best....He is not far away.
I sort of disagree with this, JJs ball retention is actually pretty good whenever he gets in the game. I fine his issue atm is getting the ball in the right areas and effecting the game. There can be 10-15 mins sometimes in a game when you just dont notice him. Its something thats fixed with experience.

Better call Saul by an absolute mile.
Theres been some great TV this year though, Stranger Things 4, House of the dragon and recently Andor have all been excellent.

11 players have managed this in the last 8 years. We have one player at the club who is one of them. Just saying.
