Is it more palatable because of the loveable Hollywood stars? Everything else is essentially the same, no?

Investment isnt the same. For instance i doubt they would invest anywhere near our owners have, yet our owners arent spening for spening sake.

But any investment is preferable to nation states sportswashing at any level.

FFP still applies in the Championship so it's not a question of how wealthy the owners are but much money the club can generate.

Wrexham are already getting Amazon documentaries, sponsorship from TikTok and being added to Fifa games.

What will they be able to bring in when in much higher leagues like the Championship?

I genuinely wouldn't be surprised for them to get shirt sponsorship by someone like Amazon or Facebook/Meta and for them to be paid more for it than most Premier League clubs (including us) get for their shirt sponsor.

I also wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people suddenly start feeling a bit different about them and cheering them on when this happens.

As far as im concered its a different type of project than billionaires pumping money in its a bit more nuanced than that. They have already upset none league fans and i know a notts country fan who hates them as its their best season in decades. Its the way theyre doing things thats more palitable than just a Chelsea/City/Newcastle, but every success brings detractors.

Glad to see he’s making me look a tit for writing him off. Also a penalty! I didn’t know we still got those??

I was shocked it wasn’t over turned, my biggest bug bare in football is “touching” the ball is winning it.

They are, but there's a difference between criticising a player's form and criticising their ability. Too often on here you see a player have a couple of bad games and then we urgently need to sell them, and then they have a good game and they're the future of the club.

Just makes me laugh. I like Watkins, have always felt his speed and physicality makes him useful even when he doesn't have his finishing boots on. The reality with the Arsenal goal is it was a great run, and beautifully taken in the end, but the touch off Cash's pass was poor. Another game he's fluffing that touch, defender is nicking the ball, and everyone has their pitchforks out.

Feels like opinions are just so extreme all the time. He's a decent mid-table striker who fits Emery's system well. He's never going to win the Ballon d'Or. But he's solid for where we are now, and seems to have responded well to the new manager.

Absoluly this, you can criticise his form but fans were just saying he's shit though without any nuance to realse the major problem with the team was lack of opertunities the team created. Tthe fact that not many strikers are prolific these days. Time and time again i had to repeat that we wont get better for less than £60 million.

  5. Currently hitting his xg for the season (just about) with 7 in 7.75xg. It shows what actually managing him and bringing his confidence out can do. The fact creating enough chances can do because he had 1 in about an ex if 3 under Gerrards 11 games.

ou can still get one-on-ones without making enough intelligent runs mate, come on, of course it makes sense. He plays every minute as our central striker ffs. But I haven't really been criticising his finishing lately anyway so no idea where that's come from.

He does do some good stuff off the ball with his energy and work rate, that I would never question. But his lack of footballing intelligence is surely obvious to most? Even when Jack was in the team, on a few occasions he'd have to hold on to the ball for ages until Ollie realised the run he's supposed to make. His technique and touch are also generally average-to-sometimes-poor. If there's a fluid attacking move, Ollie is unlikely to be a part of it. On the end of it, sometimes yeah, but not linking play. Look at Ings' first-time flick to Sanson for his recent goal, Ollie just doesn't have that kind of play in his locker. If people don't think he's limited in these areas, I have no idea what to say.

Look at how many more chances Ings got in much less game time. He's a clever player, who was on the same wavelength as the likes of Buendia. You just don't get that with Ollie.

I'm not hating on him and I don't dislike him, but I do think he limits us in some ways.

Ings, chances always seem to dry up when he started. Its the Buendia effect, against tired players. Ings none penalty xg is very similar to Ollies too. Ings at 0.39 to Ollies at 0.4.

I think even Gerrard would at least give them a new manager bounce, same as he did with us. It'd go tits up after that for sure, but it might be enough to scrape survival.

i dont think it was a Gerrard bounce but a Beale bounce.

They have character that we are missing, a drive to win at all costs . Players like Ayling might not be  world beaters but their presence on the pitch drives the whole team to fight for each other and the club..

Yeah stems from the Bielsa years. He made them put run and run and run annd not only that had an plan. Unfortunately that won’t last much longer. They need to tighten up their awful defence or they might drop. Which is a shame because they’re a team with character.

I repeat they need a decent manager, they work much harder than our bunch of soft lads. We will roll over and have our bellies tickled when we come to play Man U as we do with the top 6.

I'm not a fan of Leeds at all, but do see who they are.

They’ve been spanked many times by top 6 teams in the last couple of years. They work hard yeah but they lack ability everywhere on the pitch.

Apparently has a better goals-per-game ratio for us than Dwight Yorke.

I would say Yorke was played out wide a lot in a 4-4-2 in his first 4/5 years. Not really a fair comparison.

Just wanted to put pressure on our player that we (rightfully) trust in those positions. Not that he's a target because he's poor on the ball or anything.

We have to essentilly learn that if He's targeted like that, it frees up space somewhere else to exploit. Practise and coaching will fix this.

    Also a fair point.

The only game where I can honestly say he should have scored under Gerrard was Leeds away. That was almost half his xg under Gerrard this season. He’s been living on scraps. 4 in the 10 since is fine imo.

No surprise that Mitro has a higher xG. Not saying he's better than Ollie overall but his instincts and attacking positioning are better.

Ollie had to play Gerrard ball for half the season. No striker would have a high xg playing that shit.

  14. I think ultimately Mings will be upgraded. With Carlos coming back soon let’s see how he settles with Mings, then the year after should be replaced. I just think CB might be down the list of Striker, Winger and midfielder. I want genuine quality there first. If we can add a CB in the summer too then great.

I guess I go to and watch games and get frustrated at the amount of chances we create for the forwards and can't finish, I dread to think of how many points it's lost us. It's not only Ollie ofcourse, as I'm not sure why we put so much trust in Bailey, he can be just as frustrating.

Until Emery came in we were one of the worst creative teams in the premier league. Ollie had 2 goals from an xg of 3.5 under Gerrard underperforming yes but not Jesus levels of underperforming(we would all take him right). Since then he has 3 from 4 xg and 6 goal contributions in 7 games under Emery. I think we should all forget what happened under Gerrard everyone was shit.

Second goal was poor from him, didn't react to danger which was their CF completely unmarked in six yard box and surprise surprise he scored the header. If cross was on other side Young would've tucked in and attempted to challenge.

Not sure what he could've done for third.

He was too high, jogged back and no warning for Mings.
