Gutted, I knew I would be but feeling even more than I thought I would. Sad day for Villa!
Me too, but mainly because he's signed for the club I despise the most...and this hasn't helped.

Ihope we've already got 3 or 4 deals dovetailing this deal.
-
Yeah it's not really his ability, we've lost much bigger players. It's the thought we had that one player who genuinely loved the club and bring here. I was always sceptical if im honest and when I heard about the clause doubly so. When he turned down City I was truly gobsmacked. If he would have gone to begin with I would of said ok, I can't complain and he's added £8 million needed cash into rebuilding this awful team.
I don't believe in loyalty in football players, even Grealish would be off like a flash if City came in next season, but for a moment I thought we had the one who couldn't be bought. I didn't really get angry, Delph has made himself look more stupid than anyone. The criticism probably herts him, that's good enough for me.

The deal for Benteke, as quoted, has us getting paid in 2 installments of 16m...the first paid immediately, but structured this way, we arent quite money bags FC...
Nonetheless i expect more signings. ...we should be mid table material. Not great, but decent value and not relegation fodder. For me, its a massive improvement.
All deals are, so when we buy players it will be structured the same.

I'm quite impressed how patient the majority of the fans are ATM. I still think we need 4, and there's not a lot of time to bed them in. I hope we do our significant work before the KO, and not go all MON lastminute.com.

He hasn't lost 2-0 without a shot at goal for a while.

The season we finished 6th under Oleary was only bettered by big Rons football and Littles first season. Some great football that season.

I signed Benteke look how good a manager I am, Benteke and Delph both called/texted me look how good a manager I was, I never spent any money, look how good a manager I was.
I have no idea what he's trying to do with these interviews.
Oh yeah try and make everyone forget 11 goals in 25 games.

There's somewhere in Bentekes head saying, if I do well at Liverpool I can get a really really big club. It's probably best not to say it, but it's certainly better then spouting on about loyalty then leg it at the first opportunity.

I wouldn't be massively against this unless we pay a fee and high wages, there's a good player in there when motivated, and Tim can do that.
-
I would think he's the type of player the board would want to avoid. Unless he takes a massive wage cut, I can't see it happening.

I've always got sense that Sherwood wanted to offload him to rebuild.
Anyway, it's a move that's probably not Christians dream move, but a step closer to Champions League football. He probably needs to cut out the stroppy spells, but the guy has it all, and it's been a pleasure to watch him in a Villa shirt.

Sad for him
Never really understood why so many Villa fans don't seem to like him.
Always been a model pro so I wish him the best.
It's like some fans believe he gets injured on purpose.

If he's a DM he's a bloody awful one.

Amazing. All that's on Twitter is people talking about Richard's suggestive post on here. One guy said Richard has confirmed it and people ran with that. Nothing to see.
My fault, bad choice of words, sometimes you forget a couple of retweets and all hell can break loose on Twitter. Lesson learned.
-
Look he would be absolutely stupid not to test himself as the highest level. I don't think there's many Villa fans who would disagree with that. But to spout about loyalty of other footballers while putting a very low clause in his contract has made him look a right prick. Then reiterate said loyalty and change his mind 6 days later has just made him look a right dick.
As all the stats have proved Delph won't be too difficult to replace, there wasn't a rush to sign him in January, or when they found out his buy out clause. City need English players to bolster their squad, that's the only reason they bought him.
-
Honestly I'm quite happy he is gone, he has shown what sort of man he is and I don't think we need or want people like that at our club. Had he kept his mouth shut last week instead of making that disgusting statement, maybe I'd wish him well but he is really dead to me now, just another plastic fantastic. I hope he does about as well as Richards or Sinclair did there, I find it somewhat amusing that no other clubs made a bid for him.....
Really he should have left for free, so to get 8m is a bonus and should go a good way to replacing him, the club has a huge list of targets lined up already, I'm sure we'll be good. He was an above average player in an absolutely dreadful team, certainly not irreplaceable.
If you think we're not going to get players like that you're vastly mistaken. It's the game now, where we are as a club we really should get used to it. Enjoy the good players while they're here, they won't be here long, it's how I've looked at Benteke, in a way I'm looking forward to seeing the new players and hopefully a better team. It's all about AVFC.

I was never impressed with Delph in a 4-4-2, he needs to be in a 3, he's too leightweight.
-
So he moaned about the players contracts but then moaned about us employing a Sports Director who has contracts in his remit ...
The clause we had little choice with we had no bargaining position , we were 6 months from Delph walking on a free what could we have done ? The Mail this evening report that after Delph said he would stay Fox wanted to increase his salary to 80k and remove the clause.
The problems are historic from Faulknerss watch
I'm not saying Fox is the saviour but we have been rudderless and heading downwards for years , Fox is going to need more than one season to turn things around
I agree he's still cleaning up the mess Falkner and Lerner has left.
-
i blame filth for that 8m clause, i am sure he held the club to ransom stating he would leave on a free if we did not put this clause in. cant blame fox for that
Indeed we've just pocketed a much needed £8 million to reinvest. It's Delph who's lost out millions signing that deal, he was leaving for free.

Probably not the best for Delph and McFc to stitch him up, but they really don't give a shit.
-
There's still a part of me who hope he can rebuild his career in 2016/17.

Or Spurs fans like good football...like no other teams fans do.
