  1. Who knows? Lenglet not so long ago was a starter for Barcelona. He also started 20 + games for Spurs last season yet was seemingly happy to come here as backup. You feel with his experience Unai would be far more prepared to rotate him in for league matches after europe than Duran if Ollie was playing with a knock as he has seemingly done for last six weeks so would give us more flexibility there and also more options for the cups. And he'd also get a pay rise from whatever he's earning at Sevilla.
  2. Yes I did see that. West Ham wanted him before they signed Ings I think but cost too much back then. I think in terms of proven strikers who can fit into our style and aren't ancient he'd be a decent pick. Maybe Sorloth at Villareall also but he didn't do much at Palace.
  3. En-Nesyri scored 12 goals in La Liga since start of Feb. Overall 15 for the season plus a couple more in CL. With the Monchi connection that feels an obvious move to me as Sevilla have financial issues and he has just one year left on his deal. Sign him and Duran there on a season long loan?
  4. We usually turn up for midweek night games at VP. Have a very good record in the last five years and the atmosphere usually matches that and gees the players on. They'll be a hangover from going out of Europe though and early Liverpool goal will get the less confident moaning. Regardless of that I don't think we have the personnel to contain them unless Tielemans is out there as then we will be playing three centrally and so can get tighter to likes of MacAlister.
  5. Yeah I do think this thread has become incredibly entitled. After we lost 4-0 to Spurs in March we weren't favourites for 4th at all as they had a better GD, were two points off us and had a game in hand. Even going into the Arsenal game they were playing Newcastle first and would've gone three clear of us with a win. But they didn't and we've done really well to work a commanding lead with a far better GD. We've put the hard yards in and that should just be about enough to see them off so I'd rather focus on that than constantly moan we haven't secured CL yet. It's a bit like posters claiming we should be 20 points clear of Man. United or something. We are still a long way off the level of getting 75-80 points in this league, our squad depth says it all.
  6. Yep again not sure why people are thinking Man. City will ease off if Arsenal drop points. Surely if there's an opportunity to win the league before the final day you do it? Man. City nearly blew it v us in 2022 so can't see them risking everything on final day especially as they're in the cup final.
  7. Can't play Skipp there. He was struggling v some of the runs Odobert was making so Walker/Foden/Silva will eat him alive with their pace and movement. That's basically the key to the game as Man. City have a huge advantage that side of the pitch with Udogie missing so Ange needs to think of something to counter that.
  8. If it's 1-1 going into last ten minutes I think they'll just be happy to play out the point and take things to final day. Can't really see them risking losing the point by attacking Man. City. Also don't have much on their bench with Dane Scarlett their only sub forward option today.
  9. If we were going to Sheffield United on final day would anyone realistically expect us to beat them 5-6? I'd just be happy with a nice solid 2-0. In the Feb game we had all of Tielemans, Kamara, Luiz and McGinn fit so that made a huge difference and they were chasing shadows. Spurs really aren't playing that well in final third currently. Maddison gone off the boil, Son a bit ponderous passing and Porro wasted so many crossing chances today and with just fillers at LB all the attacking responsibility is on him.
  10. I swear some people are looking at different tables. Currently Spurs have + 12 and we have + 20. So an 8 goal swing in just two fixtures. Contrary to popular belief that isn't an easy thing to do at all. Even if we lose both games by a goal and Spurs draw with Man. City they'd still have to beat Sheffield United by six clear goals so 1-7, 2-8, 3-9 etc. In last few months Sheffield United have got 2-2 with Chelsea, lost 3-1 late at Liverpool and 4-2 at Man. United so it's not like they just ship 5-6 goals every single game they play. There's also a scenario where if we lose both games 4-3 and Spurs draw 0-0 with Man. City then they'd have to win by seven goals on the final day but that doesn't feel a likely scenario at all so wouldn't bother too much thinking about it. It's vital we try to score as many as possible in the last two games. We do have a striker one off twenty league goals after all. Two draws and Spurs would also have to win by seven on the final day as I very much doubt they'd win against Man. City by anything but a one goal margin.
  11. They'll probably have to beat Sheffield United by at least five goals. I know they're a very poor team but I just don't think Spurs have enough about them in the final third to do that. In the first three months yes (and even then they only beat Sheffield United 2-1 with two very late goals in September). We just need to avoid losing these games by 2 or 3 goal margins so this is where Unai has to make us really compact especially in central midfield where it's too easy for teams to play through us currently.
  12. Spurs having their end of season lap of appreciation today!
  13. Skipp hauled off after 70 minutes. I think v Man. City they'll just go to a back 3 or even gamble and play Van De Ven there with his pace as very few players beat him when he gets into his stride. Might even just bring back Emerson Royal.
  14. That second half from Burnley was on a par with our 15/16 lot. Still a decent goal difference lead is the main thing from today. Even if we lose our last two by one goal margin then Spurs have to win 6-0 at Sheffield United? (and take a point off Man. City).
  15. Assisgnon is a total joke...too immature for top level football. Tripped himself and having a tantrum. Does he not realise Burnley have used all their sub allocations?
  16. That was coming for sure. Not a disaster if Spurs win this by a goal though.
  17. Do Burnley actually realise they get relegated just drawing this. Not sure why Kompany isn't putting on fresh legs as they're losing all the 50/50s now.
  18. All it takes is Rodri to win the ball, De Bruyne to collect it in half a yard of space and notice Haaland is starting his run and Skipp isn't even realising it... Van De Veen is lightning quick but he can't cover every single attack as we saw for the Burnley goal.
  19. Who? They've scored 11 goals in their last nine and a half games which is pretty average so bit of a stretch to think they can just go to Sheffield United and rattle in 6-7 without breaking sweat.
  20. Not too bad from Burnley. Only worry is they're giving it away so cheaply 20-30 yards from goal. Eventually Spurs will punish that. Skipp has really struggled at LB as we saw for the goal so Man. City will brutally expose him on Tuesday. I'm genuinely amazed anyone thinks Spurs could win a game by 5 or 6 goals currently. This isn't August or September anymore and they just look jaded and constantly overhitting infront of goal, Porro has wasted so many crossing opportunities.
  21. He'd actually be useful to have now in the squad. However can totally understand him not wanting to hang around and wait for 2-3 midfielders to get injured at the same time and waste another year on the bench.
  22. As speculated Oliver Skipp is named as LB today. Interested how he gets on v Burnley as he's going to have to keep quiet all of Silva, Foden and Kyle Walker on Tuesday! Richarlison not involved either.
  23. Yes. Came on at half time v Forest and also on v Man. City.
  24. Tosin an agent link or someone we're genuinely in for? Think he can play RB so guessing the thinking there is probably move on Carlos and then have him and Konsa alternating those positions with all the games in first half of the season. Would make sense with a younger attacking LB coming in.
  25. Potter rejecting the Ajax job for second time in the season. What on earth is he waiting for given he's been overlooked for all the prem jobs available.
