Top 6 again. I think the preseason form of guzan will put pressure on friedel and he will either perform better or be replaced with a good promising keeper. I think cuellar will have an excellent season and form a solid partnership with davies. Adding beye means we won't have to play midfield players at right back and i think as a unit we will be better at the back. Losing barry means we can change our midfield a bit now and how we play. Both delph and downing when fit will offer qualities that barry couldn't. Milner will have an excellent season with us and we have an exciting prospect in albrighton coming through. Gabby has improved every season so i see no reason why this won't continue. Heskey has looked sharp in pre season and i think he will have a bigger impact on the team this season.

i'd have the angel that scored 16 prem goals back, the angel we had every other season i wouldn't. And now i wouldn't even put him in the reserves.

No one is forcing you to go. No one is forced to watch football, people do it for the enjoyment and entertainment. If you can't find any from supportng villa at this moment in time then don't go, there are plenty of people who can who will take your place.

If his jaw wasn't dislocated then i'm really confused, griffen has been in some hard matches and never gave up before so i can't understand why he did in this match. Silva looked amazing, he needed this fight after his dissapointing last one. UFC is kind of getting boring when it comes to the champions, apart from the LHW division i just can't see any of the other current champions losing to anyone in their weight division.

Looking good so far, very impressed with delph, clark and lichaj as i've never seen them play before. Milner looks lively and i think he'll have a great season this year. Good to see heskey causing problems and getting a goal. I know it's only pre season but we've put in some decent performances so far. Hopefully some of the miserable fans who think we're going to get relegated because we signed beye are watching.

I'm sure it doesn't. I'd imagine we won't see much of it next season.

Tito coming back is great news and hopefully fedor will also come into the ufc. Tito is the reason i got into MMA, i'd love him to get a title shot again.

There are plenty of moans that i can see as people having a different opinion, however moaning about losing a pre season game is IMO ridiculous and to me shows that some people love a moan. Did everyone expect us to win every pre season game? The way you change your mind i assume you'll be praising him soon. If this result is so important and shows how are season is going to go how come no one is taking into account the games we drew and won before this one? Every summer people have posted on here about how they think we are going to struggle, i guess it must be some sort of miracle that we managed consecutive top 6 finishes.

What a ridiculous thing to post. Lets moan about losing a pre season game because they get paid lots of money and therefore should of course win every game they ever play in. These games are there to get players up to match fitness, if we win great if we don't who cares. Do you think barcelona or real madrid fans are worried and slagging off their players because they earn loads of money. I saw £80 million ronaldo jog around against shamrock rovers doing a couple of flicks every now and then, should madrid fans hammer him for not scoring goals and earning the large amounts of money he is being paid? The reactions in this thread show once again how much some villa fans just love to have a moan.

Who cares? Barcelona managed to draw with spurs and real madrid could only beat shamrock rovers by 1 goal. Last season roma got hammered by spurs and the season before we beat inter milan. These pre season games are to get the players fitness levels up.

To anyone who is going to get worked up over the result, just remember last year spurs beat roma and this season got a draw with the best team in the world. Real madrid with their new £80 million pound player beat shamrock rovers by 1 goal. Pre season games don't mean shit.

Yeah i thought tyson chewing an ear was pretty classy. Dan Henderson was a cock for doing that but lets not pretend boxers never do anything bad. I can't see the popularity of the UFC fading, i would imagine actually that young kids who could be promising boxers would start moving more towards MMA now that the popularity is so big with young people. You think it's boring on the floor because you don't understand or respect the level of skill involved in BJJ and what those fighters could do to each other if one of them gave an inch. I don't get why fans of boxing get so wound up about MMA.

I've said it before but i won't mind, i hope he goes early in the summer so it doesn't drag on. We need a different player than barry to partner petrov and i think that will help us alot. We need someone whose alot better going forward and i believe we will be able to bring in someone very decent to fill the void left by barry. IMO i really don't think we will miss him that much next year.

General i know the club need money from season ticket sales but if people don't want to be at villa park after another top 6 finish then good. There are already too many fans who just sit there and whinge and moan for 90 minutes and i'd rather they weren't there. If you couldn't enjoy being a villa fan over the last couple of years then i doubt you are going to be able to enjoy it in the near future. Hopefully those seats that aren't renewed will be taken up by fans who will enjoy it. Everyone i know will be renewing their tickets and if we keep on progressing attendences at villa park won't be a problem.

Hi General, I would like to offer a different point of view to that of paulanddonya. First of all i'm sure that most fans realise how difficult the premier league is and understand that there are a few clubs with a similar agenda to ourselves. There is no guaranteed way of getting success and i see no reason why we as fans should demand or expect to be easily ahead of our main competition. We have a an owner who will back the manager and a well respected manager who has already made huge progress with the team he inherited. The way i see it is when MON took over we were behind the likes of everton, newcastle and spurs who are 3 clubs with similar ambitions to ours. Currently we are ahead of all of them. We don't have a divine right to be there but we are because the important people at the club are good at their jobs and they're are doing them well. It's clear a section of villa fans want instant success, i just hope the board aren't the same and the manager is given the chance to build a successful team. It clearly takes longer than 3 years to take a team from 16th to one that can challenge the big 4

If it's best for the team and all that.. clearly you're happy with mediocrity, I'm not.. So you think MON should break the legs of players who aren't performing? I think there should be a sliding scale. A broken nose for anyone whose cross doesn't get past the first defender, a broken finger someone who gives away a penalty, a broken arm for someone who misses and open goal all the way through to a broken leg for someone out of form. Maybe this could be the ground breaking method needed to get into that top 4.

I haven't said we will finish 5th guaranteed, i have said we are in 5th place. If 5th place this season is mediocrity then sign me up for a slice of that. 5th place in the prem is mediocrity Do you actually watch football?

You should probably follow your team a bit more closely then you wouldn't have to rely on me to tell you how well we are doing. Maybe it's easier to just post about breaking our own players legs though. :shock:

As soon as we get back to playing well, I'll be back to saying how well we played. However, while our defence is currently giving away over two goals a game, I'll say our defence is shite and that O'Neill is to blame as he created that defence. It seems you're happy to point out the negatives. The defence is poor at the moment and you enjoy pointing that out, however at the moment we are 5th (i will keep saying it) so why don't you look at that and give the manager credit for it? Realistically we are in the best position we could hope to be, why do you focus on all the negatives and not praise this achievement?
