  1. If the fans don't go, the managers gone. Before anybody says it's not supporting the team that's correct, but it would definately be supporting the club, which is bigger than any team or manager.
  2. If we do go down to the Championship Mr Lerner will have to invest. He is not going to sit on a 200 mill asset which is stuck in this division. The spending needed to get us back into the premier will cost a lot less than staying in the premier. If we go down he is going to spend enough to get us back and then sell. To much money has been spent to let it languish, and the repayments on his loans to Villa are not going to be met due to lower gates, lower prices etc.
  3. What success was that then. 3 6th place finishes, WoW. If Mon would have stayed with the players he brought in we still financially would have been in a mess. So as managers go Mon set us up to fail with the wage structure he put in place. He was a disaster.
  4. You need a hobby, or help,.............. something anyway.
  5. Get rid, Utter gash, wasted a load of money on a promise or glimpse of something special and we've been robbed. We need 90 minute fall on the sword football players. Not poncy sisha smoking ego's. Get rid and good riddance.
  6. To be honest it would'nt be hard to look good in this side, with the style of football we play.
  7. A handful of good games and he is the new Merson. I'm amazed how easy he reached such dizzy heights. This guy has done everything but set the world on fire, and became a millionaire in doing it. Not until he actually does something for Villa other than getting rich, should he gain such accolade.
  8. Well since I've been following the Villa there have been plenty of fans that have said various central midfielders are not very good, currently its Petrov in the past we've had Des Bremner, George Boateng and plenty more besides and not one of them has been "shite" or whatever else has been levelled against them. Yep we've had some shit ones too along the way, Kinsella (king of pointing), Ovynd Leonhardsen (the forgotten man) and they only ever seemed to get the same kind of vitriol some of the much better players we've had get. It's not belittling fans, it's an observation made of over 35 years supporting the Villa, there are quite large numbers of Villa fans that really don't understand the roles central midfielders ply and are asked to play. Sorry for having an opinion. Other fans have opinions to, the fact they might not coincide with yours doesn't make you right and them wrong. As for understanding the roles of central midfielders, is their some definitive document outlining what a central midfielder should play like or do, if their is could you please let the large number of Villa fans have it. In your opinion they obviously need help, you being the in house expert on how a midfielder should play.
  9. I disagree very much with this. If that is what Randy thought, then my opinion is that he severely underestimated how much it would take in cash to break a very strong top 4, or to break it in any worthwhile or prolonged way. Yes, we spent a lot of money. But we were starting from a very low base when he arrived, and from there it needed a lot of money just to be competetive again, let alone challenge the big guns. Coming 6th was about where I would expect for the money we spent. Even if we had broken the top 4, I think it would have taken a hell of a lot more money to have stayed there the next season. Regarding where we are now, I've no problem with having to cut our cloth accordingly if the cash isn't there for whatever reason. I think it has been handled badly though, and there have been mixed signals and bad communication from the club - i.e. the General talking as if expectations hadn't changed, the signing of Bent in Jan and the ambition we might have thought that showed. I think he underestimated how much money could be wasted on average to crap football players by a supposedly well respected experienced manager, who bailed on us to save his oh so precious reputation.
  10. I know I have not got many posts, but I don't think calling some fellow posters "muppets" after 21 posts is a good approach .
  11. But we didn't break top 4 did we, and because of that, and the amount of money spent we now have to change our game plan to something more sustainable. We could not carry on like we did, we had a stab at it but we failed. If we would have carried on we would of gone under. Mon did his best and it wasn't good enough. With the amount of money spent and with a different manager things might of been different. I've said it before we got the right buyer for the club but the wrong manager in. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
  12. This makes no sense! I want to buy an apple but to have enough money I need to sell my banana first. Can I afford the apple before I sell my banana? :winkold: You have a problem, does the banana score more goals
  13. Then you would think that Lerner as a businessman would start with replacing Faulkner. He kept a lot of existing staff at VP but got rid of Steve Stride. It's looking like a carry on film at the moment.
  14. Have to admit that Randy has made Doug look quite slik. Not sure if RL is getting bad advice or what, but I find it hard to believe that our present situation has somehow been engineered unwittingly by RL and his team. We seem to be experts at grasping a bad situation from a good one. I still believe RL is the best thing to happen to Villa, but I think we are in full Knee jerk reaction mode now, and scrambling to regain our reputation. Would not be bothered by the circus at the moment if we got a result, but all this fuss and bother for Macleish. Would rather take a gamble. The chains of security are the chains that bind you (Karl Marx).
  15. Would love Sid Cowans to step up. Sid if your listening give it a go. If it turns to shit doesn't matter your still or will be a legend. Give it a go, be a man, have a go. At this moment in time there's nothing to loose or lose, god knows, to much drink, save us. Kenny , Dennis , Des anyone help please.
  16. There is no need for the abuse is there, calm yourself. I dont understand why your ignoring my question about how things in the past make us a poorly run club now? But i suppose there is a reason why you ignore questions and twist everything else. Anyway this thread is not about Randy or how things are run its how Villa fans overreact to a little tommy squeaker never mind a manager appointment. Since randy took over he has poorly managed the club until he realised this in the 09/10 season resulting in the breakdown of relations with O' Neill. He'd he erin the club properly and increased our income by tapping the stands all other clubs did we would probably still have o'neill. The current mess is the result of Randy's mistakes in his first years here. That is what I've said repeatedly, you just fail to understand simple English. Randy mismanaged and now we are still in that mess as he tries to fix it. Yes, he made mistakes as an owner, considering it's the first time in football, like anyone, a player or a coach ....you make mistakes. Same with the owners, you learn from those mistakes and that's what he's doing and now rectifying. Although the view O'Neill would still be here etc...is just sheer speculation. We've finished 11th, 6th, 6th, 6th, 9th under Randy.....I'd say overall, he's done a fine job for this club, it's a shame you don't feel that you can give a board time to work things out, a board who have put a £100 million+ into the club but that's not good enough for us ... Well I just think the big mistake was letting the club get to the level it was financially at the end of the 09/10 season. We get a 12mil per year sponsorship that summer with fx pro, revenue we clearly needed the previous too seasons. This mismanagement led in my view to the departure of O'neill which has resulted in us being here now with a near certain pure managerial appointment. If Randy had run the club properly from the start, had gone out and got the best football ceo he could and tapped every revenue stream we would not be here now. The blame for our relegation battle season is his. That is my opinion and it has a very solid reasoning for it. Nothing off the cuff or random about it, I've detailed it many times before. I'd prefer a properly run club to this one. All joking aside, if you support Villa, the last sentence of I'd prefer a properly run club to this one, I repeat this one, perhaps you should go out out and find another club to support. Because at the end of the day no matter what happens if you ever supported Villa , you will carry on on supporting Villa, no matter what.
  17. You do realise if Macleish takes over and every game we lose , will be " agent Macleish" from the inbred's
  18. If all that has been said in the press is not true, then Villa need to put some one in front of a microphone and say this is not true, this is bullshit and so forth. These tossers in the press are having a field day at our expense. If someone of reputation from Villa stood up and said bullshit, it would stop all this crap that's going on.
  19. Lets have a Co-operative management. Sid + Brian Little + God to begin with. Rotating every 3 years of Ex villa players. Extended if they win things. Voted to manage by Owner, share holders, and fans. Overseen by Randy.
