  1. pretty much how I see it.. Hughes/Moyes on a par for me...realistically 6th is the best we can do with our current finances. I think either Moyes or Hughes could achieve that.
  2. The Spanish guy is called Rodrigo Munoz if anyone wants to find the tweet
  3. A Spanish journalist tweeted this, this afternoon; Quique Sanchez Flores entrenará al Aston Villa, según fuentes familiares que acabo de consultar. Su deseo es Inglaterra, ya ha decidido. Which translates to; Quique Sanchez Flores will train at Aston Villa, according to relatives who just consult. His desire is to England, has already decided. A name I haven't heard mentioned...seems very random if its made up.
  4. Based on absolutely nothing, I've still got a feeling it might be Moyes...hand him a £50m transfer kitty and I'm sure he would be tempted
  5. Good. They can keep him warm for us for a couple of years
  6. We SHOULD finish above them though, it's no massive achievement that we did. Still think Coyle is a top manager (got Burnley up with virtually no money). Bolton have hardly spent any money in the past 2 years. To keep them safe is achievement enough.
  7. So, how much crap are they gonna be in financially now??
  8. I would be 100% happy with Houllier having another season IF he was 100% physically up to it - but the fact that he can't even come to watch the game from the stands tomorrow in what is effectively a nothing game, suggests he isn't up to it. Moyes appears to have ruled himself out, so I would be happy with either McClaren, Hughes, Benitez or Lambert.
  9. I think Hughes has proved that he doesnt need a load of money - Santa Cruz for £3.5m and Samba for £500k suggests he can spot a bargain
  10. Would love to see Laursen in the dugout in the future. Would be hugely popular with the fans and someone that loves the club.
  11. He didn't almost get Wolfsburg relegated though. He was sacked 4/5 months ago, they only escaped relegation on the last day of the season, so it's not like there was a massive improvement after he'd gone...and if he had the full season, they may have been top half (will never know)
  12. Where is speculation about Ancelotti to Villa? This is the first I've seen of it...
  13. I wouldn't mind McClaren tbh. He has a Dutch title to his name with one of the smaller clubs, and also won League Cup and got to Uefa final with Boro (and look at them now). I know England was a disaster, and I don't know too much about his Wolfsburg reign, but he does have achievements on his CV. I would argue that he has won more than Moyes at 2 smaller clubs than Everton, yet everyone seemingly wants Moyes and wouldn't touch McClaren with a barge pole...
  14. He is a joke I personally like listening to Stan on talkSPORT. Plus he is a Villa fan and he speaks in a broad Brummie accent I think you'll find thats a Cannock accent!! Us Cannockians do not appreciate being called Brummies!!
  15. Not that I believe it, but I'll humour you, spotted by who??
  16. Does seem strange to leave Everton for Championship bound West Ham. Watch this space...
  17. Gotta love Bent!!! My only criticism (and its not really that) is that he needs to score in front of the Holte!!!
  18. Hi General, Think it's safe for you to come back now Great win/performance today, just shows what this squad could achieve, just got to wonder why we haven't played like this more often...
  19. Benitez, no one else's CV (that we could realistically get) comes close.
  20. Out of morbid curiosity. What would you be happy with ? 6th/7th ? Were you content with that under O'Neill or did you want/expect more ? I doubt we'll EVER finish in the top 4 again. So i've just accepted that and realised I don't actually care. As long as we 'try' to aim high i'm ok with falling short I've never thought of the top 4 as some great triumph anyway. Winning something yes, finishing 4/3/2 = Not really that bothered Spurs have proved that it can be done. It's just about getting the right manager and the right players. Spurs don't spend more than us on wages or transfer fees - I think we just need to be better in the transfer market.
  21. He won the Champions League as a player, so I'm sure he knows how top players behave.
  22. I wouldn't be too dissapointed with Mark Hughes. He has a solid track record (Got Wales into top 30 in world I believe, got Blackburn to the edge of the European places consistantly, Almost got City into top 4 but wasn't given time, and has Fulham playing nice stuff and in the top half). He has no failures on his CV and is willing to sign from abroad (Santa Cruz) - we could do a lot worse.
