  1. Good will from who? Personally I don't think Mings should be on the pitch never mind given the captaincy back. We have a team that over the last couple of years has had a weak mind set and a tendency to give away needless cheap goals and then capitulate in games, much of that has stemmed from Mings. I think if Carlos hadn't been injured we'd be in a different position now, and would make a good shout for captain.
  2. I'd say a lot of that is down to good recruitment on Brentford's part, having a relatively consistent style of play, and his having time to develop the team. Given another 3 years I think Smith would have got Brentford promoted. Established? Well if you mean kept them up last season and 5 points above us this season then yes. He has had to change the style of football however, just watching some analysis last night which shows they play much more counter attacking football in the Premier League compared to the Championship. As said, I like him, I just don't think he'd work out here.
  3. Maybe... but I get the feeling that all the coaching in the world isn't going to stop Mings making costly mistakes every few games, or turn Watkins into a natural born finisher. The past couple of seasons the difference between our actual finishing position and circa 8th (your upper mid table) has only been 6 points. Take Mings mistakes out of the equation, or add a few goals Watkins should have scored, and that's the difference.
  4. How so? I think it's strange people suggesting Thomas Frank, not that I don't think he's a good manager, but he's been at Brentford since 2016, and manager since 2018, so had a lot of time to build and coach the team. He won't get that here. it took him 3 seasons to get promotion, and last season he finished one place and one point above Villa, and with a worse goal difference. This season Brentford are only 5 points above us with us to play them next, which could narrow the gap to 2 points.
  5. For those that lack comprehension of football yes.
  6. Bailey, Watkins is probably a better winger than striker. Cash and Young can both play wing. So that's 4.
  7. Nope, and I can see through your dumbass bullshit.
  8. Yeah because it's his fault Mings has a couple of brain farts most games.
  9. So if he messes up it's his fault, but if he's successful it's luck and he's "stumbled" into it. We have several players who are wingers. We'll there's certainly no disputing your bias and that all roads lead to the same predetermined conclusion is there!
  10. Is that simplistic comparison the best you can do? Well last season we were only 4 points away from 11th, and this season we're currently one point away from 11th so what's your problem if that's your benchmark? I'm sure it's clear in your mind, but it's not really clear how much what's in your mind correlates with reality.
  11. That's not even true though its it, he's made lots of changes outwith the front 3. But let's not let the facts get in the way of having a dig. Quite a few people seem to struggle with those on here anyway.
  12. Well he said he was going back to basics and making us hard to beat, and he has done that. Defensively we've looked pretty solid and we've been good at disrupting other teams play. So it's one yard stick to measure him by. He needs now to build on that and create more coherent and fluid midfield and attacking play. Though it would help if we put away some of the chances we've had. Ironically i think we'll create more chances against the better teams as they'll push up more and leave more space in behind to exploit.
  13. Is it? I think it's the comment of someone who understands the expectations of football supporters, whether realistic or unrealistic. Brighton supporters will have different expectations to Chelsea fans about the teams they should be beating given the significant difference in stature and performance over the last 20 years between the 2 clubs. There's plenty to criticise Gerrard about without resorting to trying to be offended about a pretty truthful fact. I've seen plenty of it on here, that we should be beating this team and that easily (rightly or wrongly), and guess what, if you head over to a Chelsea forum over the last 20 years, the overwhelming majority will be saying they should be beating us easily, and that'll be no different today.
  14. Well we've played the top 2 in our first 8 games, and a win tomorrow will put us in 9th. That doesn't require any imagination either, though possibly does require not cherry picking facts to support a negative narrative.
  15. Maybe that shows the world is a little bigger and more varied in opinion than your limited anecdotal experiences.
  16. But all you've done here is clutch the other end of the straw.
  17. Why don't you try watching the full interview and understanding what he said in the context of the full interview. Just in case you didn't know, words get their meaning from the other words they're used with. It's funny, because I think in the interview last night he said a lot of the things many on here have said, and accepted and owned many of the criticisms that have been echoed here too. Then you come to this thread and those same people are taking abstract sentences from what he said and somewhat maliciously and misleadingly try to skew these sentences to have negative connotations that weren't even there.
  18. People have already given several other reasons why sports events, and events in general, might be cancelled, in particular policing and security.
  19. Dendoncker has finished top 10 several times with Wolves, Dougie has supposedly been chased by two of the top four clubs, Kamara had options of champions league clubs, JJ is an up and coming talent... and then there's MgGinn, who was supposedly courted by a few top ten clubs, and it's certainy better than many on here give him credit for. So whilst it obviously comes down to balance and tactics, I'd say they should be capable of top 10.
  20. I'm sure you are comfortable with your views, but that's not saying much is it. Over 250 premier league appearances and 70 International appearances between them, what do you think these few stats mean? I'll help you out... you don't get that many appearances if they're a bad as you say. I'm sure the managers that have played them have seen far more of them than you, or have you seen all 320 games they've played in?
  21. What utter rubbish, Bednarek has over 130 premier league appearances and 42 for Poland, that would suggest he's far better than Hause. Dendonker has over 120 premier league appearances and 29 for Belgium. I'd suggest you don't get stats like that by being no better than Hause or by being "bang average".
  22. Not sure if you were born after this but does the 2015 - 16 season ring any bells? (5 points in 14 games)
