Ok... Take Manchester City.... Suddenly get billions in their bank balance... Do rather well for themselves... and their popularity goes through the roof... Who supports them now? Thats right... Plastic fans... I live in Thailand... I have met 2 Villa fans out here... and one of those was an American! I haven't seen hide nor hair of a Villa shirt anywhere... but Man City shirts you can get quite readily along with Arsenal, Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea, Roma, Inter, Barca etc etc etc (Champions League clubs basically)... Not that I blame the Thais... They only go by what they see on TV... They are only spoonfed games with those teams playing and the other prem clubs like ourselves, Spurs, Toon and Everton get the same amount of alloted time on Thailands version of 'Match of the Day' as we get at home... Essentially, 2 minutes, blah, blah, now back to the 'big clubs'... People not born in a country dont tend to have any allegiance to whom they should support; so they tend to follow players they like, or colours they like or whoever is winning at the time and then liking the team comes from that... I was born in Birmingham to a family of Villa fans but moved from Brum up to County Durham when I was only 18 months old.... My grandad supported Villa, my dad supports Villa and both my brothers support the Villa... and I bloody love supporting the Villa... Its in my blood...

Only difference is the club fork out and pay the wages for the player to perform, not vis-versa... The player is the employee, the club has paid for him to abide to his contract throughout the duration. If the player doesnt want to re-sign at the end of the contract, then fair play, he can leave on a free... but up until then, the player should agree to do the job by the terms he put his signature to in the beginning... If you dont fancy staying at a club for 4 years, dont sign a 4 year contract... Its that simple

Hope Spurs dont match our valuation... I understand this... but the player is not being treated unfairly so he cant throw the contract in saying this-and-that.... He knew Villa were a work in progress... He knew we werent fighting for European spots.... and he also knew that the length of the contract we were offering him to sign was 4 years long... Indeed I did misread and for that I apologise... I wouldnt have cared if he was crap and had scored one goal in 45 appearances as long as, in the case of Brett Holman, it was clear that it wasnt working and it was in the best interests of both parties for the contract to be stopped as soon as possible... Brett wanted first team football and we couldnt provide it to him anymore.... However, in the case of Benteke, he signed the contract we gave to him... Its still in our best interests for him to play up front and score goals for us as we are well under the impression that he can still do the job he is receiving a wage for. It is our clubs perogative as the employer to decide when we want him to stay and when we want him to go... We put the money into his pocket and he agreed to our terms over other companies/teams for a pre-determined period of time... If he wasn't happy, he shouldnt have accepted the offer, the length of time or any part/parcel of the contract... but he did... By all rights, he is our bitch for another 3 years... It may well be the agent trying to get the best deal he can right now. Football is a pretty fickle sport. Benteke could do his knee during preseason training and not play again. He might have a difficult second season and fall out of favour. His hype is very high right now due to a strong start to the year. His agent probably wants to strike whilst the iron is hot and secure a contract that will set him up as a millionaire whilst he can. If he did a Casiraghi, made a big money move, ruptured his cruciate and had to quit forever... THAT would be the most beautiful and poetic thing to happen right about now...

We should make a deal with Spurs... We will sell you Benteke for £25m.... AFTER you sell Bale to whoever for however much... Why should we lose what everyone else sees as our crown jewel and they not lose theirs??

I hope for 3 things I hope: A - We sell him for a hefty profit B - We sign someone who scores and provides more than he does that clearly takes a shine to us and doesn't have a sneaky bastard agent and finally C - Christian Benteke and his agent fail at whatever club they engineer a move to and inexplicably both catch the ebola virus Not much to ask for...
