    I'm not so sure that Xavi does have that extra gear any more, particularly later in the season. Still a supremely gifted player and the best in the world at what he does, but he doesn't seem to get around the pitch quite as quickly these days. Thiago and Isco are both fabulous players and will do well for Spain, but they've got a long, long way to go before they're anything like as good as Xavi and Iniesta.

    He's not playing - they've got Mata in midfield. OK, we get it, Piqué and Alba are awful, therefore Spain's (usually!) solid defence is solely down to the skills of Arbeloa and Ramos. Who happen to play for Real Madrid.

    Each to their own, but there seem to be a hell of a lot of grumpy feckers focusing solely on the negatives ahead of a clash between two sides that can play extremely brilliant football. I, for one, am really looking forward to the final.

    I don't think that it takes anything away from Iniesta, but obviously you have to sympathise with such clubs. Does anyone know if there's a confirmed date for La Liga's fixture list announcement? I'm hoping that I can finally get across to watch a Barça game sometime next season.
