    It wasn't a massively weakened line-up today. Captain started. Current first choice centre back pairing. First choice right back. Midfield should have been fine - plenty of international pedigree. Unfortunately both Dendoncker and Tielemans put in absolute stinking performances. Not that Unai couldn't have done more, but I don't put this on him. And he's still the best manager we've had in decades.

    I'd definitely take the massive offer for Salah if I were Liverpool. Brillliant player but clearly at the start of a decline now and they already have other very strong forwards.

    It's not as straight forward as that though, is it? Watkins is a better striker than Archer. So he'll play in our best XI. And I can't see them working together.

    Ferran Torres isn't really a central striker and either way, neither are coming in to play backup to Ollie and I'm also not convinced that either are better. I'd love to sign a Diaby-level player as a centre-forward but I don't think those two are that player. Anyone that is, isn't coming to us - there aren't that many number 9s out there at an elite level.

    Against Everton. Everton are shit. Overall, Watkins is clearly a better player than Archer right now.

    Cup win and top half finish is a definite possibility though and wouldn't be a bad season at all. Would love top 4 but it's games like this that show we're not quite there. Ideally we get top 6 and a cup win, but one or the other would still be a successful season. No way are we battling relegation - that's just not going to happen.

    Who are we realistically bringing in though? I don't think we can attract an upgrade on Watkins just yet, and we're not getting anyone at his level to play backup. Yes Archer knows where the goal is but he's going to be a downgrade whenever he's on the pitch over Watkins, so it makes sense to take a good fee for him with the buy-back option in case he does look like that player in future (or if we can turn further profit). I find Watkins really frustrating at times but he's still easily our best striker and I can't see who we could attract as a ready-made upgrade.

    Archer is not the level of striker for where we're hoping to be right now.

    Diaby, Douglas Luiz and Konsa have been good. Everyone else below par to varying degrees.

    Watkins is a very good striker, but not top level. Ideally we'd get decent money for him and sign an upgrade, but I don't imagine that's possible for us.
