  1. Not the easiest finish that, tight angle on his weaker foot. He's come up with a lot of big impact moments this season, both from bench & starting. On 9 goals/8 assists now which is excellent figures for winger.
  2. Decent first, superb 2nd and come out with perhaps most impressive and surprising result of the season. Did not see this performance coming at all with Luiz missing. Big performances all round, including some who've been a bit maligned like Zaniolo, Carlos. Tielemans and McGinn particularly 2nd half did really well, Digne solid throughout. Rogers growing every game. Watkins brilliant finish and unlucky not to have 2. Bailey with impact. Martinez big saves 1st half and had a nice quiet 2nd really.
  3. I didn't even celebrate so sure he was off! Absolutely superb finish
  4. Frankly a lot better than expected. Carlos and Martinez doing v well defensively. They have had plenty of chances though, and should have taken at least one, been quite wasteful really. They might start to get more frustrated if it stays like this much longer into 2nd. Odegaard is their key, smart player, we need to stop him finding space. Would prob go Bailey for Rogers soon with Rogers on yellow and tends to tire. We were unlucky with the Watkins one, but otherwise not really making the ball stick up top enough when we do get it out.
  5. basically full strength they don't seem to get injuries. they gone with Trossard over Martinelli but latter on bench. on paper we ain't getting anything today and tbh I think if they score early with the amount we've conceded lately, we could easily get hit for 4+. But, it's football. Perhaps they will be complacent, perhaps they will feel pressure, perhaps they have mind on Bayern, perhaps, perhaps..
  6. Got the win, shame couldn't get the clean sheet Emi deserved. Really failed to push on after the 2nd. Lots of subs made sense, with a game Sunday we need to rotate - but none of the incoming made much impact. Ref bit weird giving random soft yellows to us but zero consistency with similar/worse.
  7. misses Bournemouth as well. While it might benefit us for the Lille games, it's a loss, going to be relying a lot on McGinn to cover
  8. Dreadful, pathetic, almost season-endingly bad 10 minute spell in the 2nd. Come away with a draw that feels like a punch in the balls of a loss. Their keeper is shite we should've been peppering balls in at him Defence appalling. Ref truly appalling. Watkins did little wrong and 2 goals so has to be motm.
  9. We were v lucky on the Bailey one first minute. Dived in and don't think he got anything on ball.
  10. Good half, patient build up and then McGinn with a smart ball in to get the breakthrough. Hopefully can get 2nd early in 2nd and make it a cruise. Bailey challenge early on was iffy, as was Diego one bizarrely given as a free kick for them. So i guess they cancel. Luiz looks confident in games like this, he knows he's better than anyone on the other side. Rogers had some positive moments.
  11. Always going to struggle with our reserves away there Respectable first half but goal before half time killed it then 2nd half was meaningless
  12. Guess we're not the only team to do pathetic late collapses against this bunch. Rashford is one lucky, lucky footballer, given how many chances he wastes. Liverpool got a couple of reserves who just ain't really up to it (Endo, Tsimikas) and made some stupid errors in the closing stages.
  13. Yeah good cameo, nice finish (and crucially the movement to get in that position) and all-round play was good. His big achilles heel is discipline - could easily have got 2nd yellow in injury time for throwing ball away. First yellow was a bit handbags but once you got one, you have to be smarter and this is prob part of why he doesn't get many starts.
  14. Karma on the handballs for Ham with the pen not given. Hate VARs taking that long, but obv glad for the reprieve. As soon as they showed the correct angle shot, it was obvious so I don't know how it took so long to get there. Good fighting performance 2nd half, subs all did well, and a good point in the end.
  15. VAR will never overturn ones like that because the ref clearly saw it and made the call and there's enough wiggle-room with handball rule that they can just defer to on-pitch decision. If ref hadn't seen it, might have been a different story. for me, it is handball by the current wording of the rule because his arm is out in a way it doesn't need to be. "touches the ball with their hand/arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger. A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation. By having their hand/arm in such a position, the player takes a risk of their hand/arm being hit by the ball and being penalised"
  16. You can tell there's not the same understanding with Duran/Rogers, players don't know where to make the passes, so they slow down and cycle again. Which is making it easy for West Ham to defend. Just couple moments with Watkins/Bailey trying to make something happen. It kind of is what is with the injuries, when you don't have McGinn/Kamara/Ramsey, we're missing a big chunk of our midfield so that's to be expected. The big disappointment was once more slack defending for a soft and easy goal similar to ones conceded against Fulham & Spurs. At 0-0 we might have grown into game, now we're chasing it and don't look like got the belief going forward to do anything.
  17. Perfect night other than injuries. Diaby or Bailey for MOTM
  18. Def no point appealing, they won't overturn one like that. Still I do think most times a foul like that would be given yellow, because it's not 2 footed, it's not high, it's essentially a trip but because he went in fast and because of the intense reaction from bench it tilted ref to give red. I'm thinking back to Tarkowski against us and I don't see a lot of difference, but he didn't even get a foul called against him, if I remember correctly.
  19. Game with basically zero positives, dire 2nd half obviously. Think the difference of having week off and full strength team vs European away game and no DM & half-fit CBs showed in the tired and mistake-ridden 2nd half. I do feel like the red would be given yellow 9/10 times but VAR never going to overturn - equally wouldn't have turned it red if the ref had said yellow. Van De Ven took Watkins leg in v similar way in the box early on and nothing given because of slightest brush on the ball.
