Guzan did well when called on, Heskey and Shorey were abysmal, everyone else did so-so and I expect more out of them. My opinion is that we'd be better off playing with no-one as opposed to them two. You need to score in the away leg in these games. Pressure will be all on at VP now (assuming score stays the same). If they score at VP its as good as game over.

We have no outstanding canddates for captain. The only real leader seems to be NRC, but he's not a good enough footballer to guarantee him a starting birth every week and therefore unsuitable as captain. If you put a gun to my head, I'd say Petrov, but he's the best of a bad bunch.

Agreed. Reo-Coker and Sidders should have started that game as our only fit senior CM players. Petrov looked like the Petrov from before last season (probably due to a lack of fitness having missed some of preseason) and Delph should have had to earn a place in the side - in hindsight, I'm not suprised our midfield was overrun.

We stand a chance if we get Heskey off the pitch. Stick NRC on and play a 4-5-1 like we did last season before changing to a 4-4-2 to give Heskey a game.

Funnily enough I felt pretty much the same then as I do now. Feeling like it was one step forwards and two back. Yes I'm aware we consolidated our position of 6th in the league last season but this coming season will be alot tougher with some sides stengthening fairly significantly. I am still having trouble getting over a disasterous second half to last season during which, frankly, was relegation form. Replacing our captain and vice-captain with players of equal or better quality would go a long way to boosting my morale. Also, dropping this damn 442 formation and playing to our strengths would help a bit instead of desperately trying to find a place for Emile Heskey in the starting XI

Not overly happy. Disappointed with the lack of progress made in the transfer window so far, and also concerned that MON seems to be persisting with a 442 formation which is not bearing fruit after 6 months of been using it. I am very concerned about the last few months of last season and also the poor start we have made to preseason. Surely we should have had the players here by now to work with the current squad giving the most amount of time to settle in?
