  1. Have a sneaky feeling K-Mac will be given a crack at the job after that. Randy obviously trusts him, hence he didn't rush into an earlier appointment with an 'emergency' manager like Curbs or Dowie.
  2. My starting XI: -------------------Friedel Young-----Collins-------Dunne-----Warnock ------------Petrov---------Reo-Coker----------- Young----------Ireland-----------------Downing --------------------Gabby------------------- I want Petrov and Reo-Coker playing very deep, but be there to provide an outlet if a forward player runs up a blind alley. Wingers hugging the touchline, Ireland has free role. I want to see more forward play from Luke Young and Warnock, I want to see some overlapping and them joining in attacks. Downing, I expect more from him, I want him covering his fullback when he gets forward. Dunne / Collins - please, please, please, no hoofing to the forwards. To the team as whole - If you can't go forwards go sideways. If you can't go sideways go backwards. Keep the ball on the deck. If we've got the ball, the opposition can't score.
  3. he knew absolutely **** all about it. didn't it hit his back and go in? No, he guided it in with his chest. Watch it again. Are you taking the piss? He was trying to get out of the way of the ball.
  4. People think Heskeys goal was deliberate? :bonk: Well done Emile, you've broken your 6 month goal drought.
  5. I wanted K-Mac, but I'm sure him saying he's not sure he wants the job is not filling the players with confidence.
  6. Agreed. K-Macs recent comments about not knowing if he wants the job are (I believe) unsettling the team. It needs some stability from a permanent commited manager. I had hoped it would be K-Mac himself, but I don't think he wants it.
  7. Right, I've calmed down now. Friedel - 4 - Showed his age. L. Young - 4 - Awful game Clark - 4 - Alot to learn Warnock - 4 - 3 games in a row he's been complete shite now Before I carry on, a quick note on the defence. Their wayward passing and hoofing put unneccessary pressure on us today. We're missing Collins to keep everyone on their toes and give the opposition centre forwards some stick. That geordie centre forward would've had no joy had Collins been playing today. Collins would have flattened him during the first 10 minutes and it would've been game over. Dunney is a cracking centre half, but he's more in the mould of God in that he's brilliant at last ditch challenges and covering. He's not a sort of 'lionheart' in the Laursen mould, which is what we needed today. On todays evidence, Clark is way off where Cahill was when he left., but I don't want to be too hard on him. He's very, very young for a premier league centre half. Ireland - 6 - Looks assured on the ball, tried to thread some good balls through and seems to have some stamina. Downing - 3 - Looks worse than he did 8 months ago when coming back from injury, Should be dropped for Reo-Coker. Albrighton - 4 - Not in the game. Got no joy from his left back. Young - 6 - At least he appeared to give a shit and and had a goal wrongly ruled out. Petrov - 5 - Needs someone else to help him. Simply does not have the engine to run a midfield. A quick note on the midfield: 4-4-1-1 is all well and good, but our midfield 4 is far too light weight. It needs a grafter in there like NRC to keep things ticking over. Personally I think Downing has to be left out of the next few games. He needs a serious kick up the arse and also needs to grow a pair and put a shift in, track back, and get stuck in. Carew - 4 - People slagged him off last week and I defended him as I thought apart from scoring he did well. Today, though, his performance was indefensible. Truly awful. H really is the ultimate paradox. If he's up for it, he's unplayable. If not, bloody awful. Ref - 3 - Had Ash's goal not been ruled out, things could've been so different. K-Mac - 2 - If you're managing a team thats 3 nil down with 25 minutes to go, and you look at your bench and think 'how can I turn this round?', and you decide the best option is to bring Emile Heskey on, and then stick him out on the right wing, then you're asking for trouble.
  8. Game over. No urgency, no motivation, no spine.
  9. Heskey on for Marc in a minute.
  10. You know what, I've tried to stay positive for years, and I tried to see the upside of things even before Lerner took over and MON came. I kept that attitude during MON's reign when fans were polarized and berated just about every signing he made. I kept my head up when Barry left as I felt we could do well without him. When Jimmey MON left I was gutted, when Jimmy left I was horrified. I don't have it in me to pick myself up from this. 3-0 down to Newcastle. The question isn't if the wheels are coming of. It's more a question of how many remain and if they can carry us over the finish line or if this is it. So I fully agree with you. **** it. **** it all to hell. Bye.
  11. If we can get one back before HT..............
  12. Thank god you weren't around in the early 70's and mid 80's.
  13. No, this lot are shite. One goal and they'll be rattled.
  14. And how many shots did he have ? Trying not to be too simplistic here, but I will stick my neck out and say that Albrighton will probably get MOTM - so if out winger was so good - why the hell did our forward not get within 30 yards of any of his crosses ! Probably because he's useless Carew showed how to lead a line properly at the weekend. Heskey is no outlet at all. The ball just bounces off the clearing in the woods. No doubt if Heskey was upfront saturday, you'd be lambasting him for missing 3 absolute sitters. Yes you're right. Well done. i think he was insinuating that would have lambasted heskey, whereas you seem to have forgotten carew cocked them all up. I'm aware Carew didn't score, but apart from that, it was a masterclass in playing up front on your own. He harried, bullied, put himself about, held the ball up, took people on and made a nuisance of himself. Because it took more than one person to look after him it created space for other players. I saw nothing like that from E-Mule tonight. edit: and I'm aware of what he was trying to say, thanks. I chose not to argue.

  17. Thought Bannan and Albrighton looked good again, unfortunately no-one else seemed to be on the same wavelength. Reo-Coker had a solid game alongside Hogg, Downing needs to step it up, but every aspect of the defence was shocking, as was Heskey. I think Beye (and Heskey) should never, ever, ever pull on Villa shirts again. Seriously though, Beye and Davies were shit. I'd like to see Lichaj play right back with a half decent central defensive pairing like Dunne / Collins or Clark. The problem tonight was that the back line was leaderless. Davies is a good player when he's alongside someone like Laursen or Dunne who can tell him what to do, but when you stick him alongside a Beye type player you don't have a prayer. If you then stick a youngster at full back you're asking for trouble. All is not lost though, and we should progress at VP next week.

Friedel - 8 Had nowt to do for ages but make one really really good save. Young - 9 Solid, an asset to any team. Warnock - 7 A couple of iffy moments Dunne & Clark - 9 Dunne his usual self and Clark unfazed by the pressure. Albrighton - 10 MOM. Wow. Petrov & Milner - 9 The engine room. Nice to see Petrov get forward more. Downing - 8 Still more to come I feel but got a goal and looked lively. Young - 9 So, so dangerous. Englands loss is our gain. He was taking the piss towards the end. Carew - 9 Don't care if he doesn't score all season if he leads the line like that.
  19. Hi General, As Kevin MacDonald is the caretaker manager and will take charge of the first team until further notice, if he proves successful in the short term, will he be offered the job in the longer term? Is he even interested in the job? Thanks for your time, Randy and the board have my 100% support, at least. MON wouldn't have got very far without the support of yourselves and the finance and platform you provided him to build a team; so for sections of the media to overstate his importance to Aston Villa the way they are is very annoying and short sighted.
  20. It's actually spelt Moat, and he went a few weeks ago. Could have had Gazza as his no. 2.
