  1. Went for chicken. Never liked lamb, pork is quite nice but perhaps not so versatile as chicken, I love a beef roast but have been put off steak thanks to a few years of steak you could make shoes out of. Also a big fish lover.
  2. If the rumours are right I'd guess we've bid for both in a Bismarckian '2 irons in the fire' scenario. Be happy with either tbf.
  3. It's nowhere near as good as the first 2 albums, but better than the travesty that is the 3rd... Sonorous - Feeder
  4. Well I've always associated Vox guitars for the white, and it has the got whole Ian Curtis thing going on... the blacks a bit different though. I'd personally go for the white, but thats because I'm a Joy Division fan and I couldn't ignore the Love Will Tear Us Apart thing. If you wear a lot of black you'd get the nice focal point of the look with the contrast too.
  5. I think I love everyone of those shots TSV. One thing I'd love to get into, photography.
  6. Tis indeed sublime. Got it on atm. Angles - Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip Amazing song. Look for the Woman and Tommy C are class as well.
  7. One of the most instantly recognisable riffs in music, great song. As for me atm Wicked Game - Chris Isaak going into I See a Darkness - Bonnie 'Prince' Billy
  8. ^ New album Rich? Got hold of it myself today, not had chance for a proper listen by a few songs sound top notch.
  9. Royksopp - Remind Me Remix going into R.E.M. - Try Not to Breathe
  10. Look for the Woman - Dan le Sac VS Scroobius Pip
  11. I had 6 pints of it in one night. Not that I really remember. Its like drinking petrol, but its cheap. Haha so true. I only got it just to try something different and then this cloudy monstrosity it passed across the bar, it was almost like drinking a pint of really heavy dry white wine. It was good though. Took an absolute age to drink too.
  12. All of the above, often in the same night. . Although if pushed I'd go for larger since my Guinness comsumption has plummetted recently. Never have been an ale man much, I can have the odd pint to mix thigns up a bit and enjoy it but it's too much for night out drinking. Also agree with Rob, get the title changed to beverage and bang up cider! I had an Old Rosie the other night, bloody hell what a drink.
  13. they should be hung ? Nah, they lack substance, occasionally give the place a nice look or sometimes are a bit garish, but ultimately they're just in the background not really doing much.
  14. A republic does not have to be organised like that, Chindie. Read up on your comparative politics Thought you'd have gathered I'm not a lover of this aspect of politics Mich . I do tend to think when people say they want a republic they think France or the US however. Still dont have any problem with the modern incarnation of our royal family. They're like wallpaper.
  15. Well unfortunately it's a principle that doesn't really bother me until they abuse it, which isn't going to happen. I'd feel much much less confident with a bloke in power who is thoroughly expected to use a far greater amount of power. Look up some of the quotes from the old French Presidents. 'I am France' and the like. No thank you. As for the democratic debate... thats a whole new area and one that the phrase can of worms seems unfit for, so I'll say it'd be more accurate to say it's a supertanker of worms.
  16. I know they retain power Ian, they just dont use it since it's too contraversial for them to do. I believe the last time they were used was to attempt to sort out the mess government was in and to actually put a PM place, back in the 70's I think? It's hardly like they ride round the country on the backs of the peasants and arbitrarily picking someone out and decreeing 'OFF WITH HIS HEAD!', is it? . Beyond the principle of it... it seems pointless to change it.
  17. They don't do anything, yes the principle of someone being born into a higher power isn't quite on, but... well, they don't do anything. They just act like PR for Britain on their jollies round the world. And we love our pomp and circumstance so it gives us an excuse to keep it up. Seems a bit of a waste of time to get rid of them. Besides being a republic would just replace them with a President who happens to actually have power and be keen to use it. So you replace a dusty old tradition with a new, modern, forward thinking bloke with a shitload of power he can actually use, and it's all because want to vote for their head of state? Nah thanks.

    Do you read?

Finally got the Algebraist done with bout 3 weeks ago. Bloody hell, what a slog... a bit of a disappointment overall, my first real delve into sci fi and while it;s all very well imagined and whatever else... there's not a whole lot to like about it. 500 odd pages of...well... not a lot? Characters aren't terrible likeable, the description of things just didn't seem to 'fit' with what my mind said they would be which was something that started to bug me after a while. The main one of these being the fact that the main character spends almost the entirety of the book in a 'gascraft' a little arrow shaped ship he uses to spend time to with an alien species in the universes gas giants. Except I just couldn't get past the idea of a little ship interacting with these creatures. It just didn't seem to fit. Add in the fact that the first 300 pages of the book feature sod all happening effectively and it just brings the whole thing down. Banks is still scene setting 200 pages in. The last 200 or so pages were better, we get some action but it's still hard to genuinely care about any of it. In the meantime however I investigated Neil Gaimans American Gods for the second time. Brilliant smart book. The premise is just so simple but great. What happened to the old gods? Odin, the Egyptian idols, the little myths and legends of the worlds cultures? They went to America, carried in the stories of immigrants to the New World and finding themselves having to do things a bit different in the face of the new gods, of technology and other features of modern life. It's a weird book, it's rambling in parts but has so many great ideas in it. It also features the Gaiman staples, explicit in parts and gruesome in others, but it's genuinely like nothing else I've read. Throughly recommend it for people interested in a bit of fantasy writing that has something slightly new. I'm yet to find a copy of House of Leaves, sadly. Be interested to know if anyone on here had read it and their thoughts since I've heard it becomes a bit of chore in parts but is brilliant if it grabs you. Also seems to be more popular in America so perhaps Stateside Villans could inform?
  19. I've got nothing goin for me. Look like the devil, pale, and long arms. Bloody hell. Might as well start advertising myself as a cave troll in the lonely hearts and have done with it .
  20. Hot Chip - One Pure Thought. Got their second and third albums today. Fancied something a bit different. Pretty good.
