Bowen isn’t a natural footballer, he isn’t really a flair player either. He just works hard and is give his all. Typical Moyes type of player, he’s deserved his chance but I don’t think he’s any better than what we have. Would argue Harvey Barnes is better than him as well.
I wouldn’t disagree, as I would rather see Foden and/or Grealish on the pitch ahead of him. Even Saka on the right if need be and Grealish left.

He would be if he was warming the bench at Man City.
It’s sad but you’re not wrong unfortunately.

It’s not been a great start for Bowen has it? He’s had an amazing season but nothing going right so far.
-
Booing has started.
Booing aside, Mings should have been in this squad.

Really pleased for you

You may think a lot of our fans and fans of other clubs are “clueless” when it comes to judging midfielders but that doesn’t mean that your right. It’s your opinion and that’s fine but perhaps don’t be so patronising of others.

Total, total nonsense post. His performance was below par for the standards that he has set already. Absolutely plain to see. I also didn’t say that he had a bad game nor was I criticising him. He looked tired!
I think quite a few of us can have an opinion that is valid without it being constantly questioned or at times posters attempting to ridicule. Your final paragraph isn’t worth answering.
I’ll leave it there.

It was clearly evident last night that Ramsey was tired and he did nothing of note whilst on the pitch. It’s not about who was better or who stood out more, his performance alone was below par.
He’s just had a brilliant season but clearly needs to recharge his batteries for a couple of weeks before preseason.
-
I actually thought Ramsey looked really tired last night before he came off. Wasn’t closing the opposition down or making any trademark runs in advance of our forward. Probably fatigue after a long season. A good couple of weeks rest now will do him the world of good.
I also don’t agree that he should be part of the senior England squad right now. Maybe next season if his form continues to grow but we’ll see.

I hear ya. My worry is by the time he lifts the World Cup in December, we’ll be seeing these images of him bringing it back……- 5

Have suggested Jesus a few times but surely he’s more likely to join Arsenal. Would love it if he came to us though.

Finley Thorndike being released is a slight surprise. Didn’t we chase him and he only joined us in September last year? Perhaps he hasn’t shown enough?

Probably not far off. Had no choice though did we with all the releases / loan returns left us with half a squad.
As you say, we were left with hardly anything.
At least we’re bringing in money for our squad players now, rather than releasing ageing players on a free.

When we came up we needed to pad out the squad and some were a gamble obviously. I think we signed ten players that summer?
Trez was ok in parts, scored a couple of good goals but clearly wasn’t the standard required to be a regular starter. Cost approx £8m and we’ll make a small loss no doubt. If we can get £3/4m back, I think that’s ok.
-
If we sell Davis (which is likely), how would people feel about starting the season with just Watkins, Ings and Archer (if he doesn’t go out again on loan) as our striker options?
Personally, I think we need another one. Who that is I don’t know but plenty to choose from I imagine, ie Richarlison, Jesus, Isak, David, Depay, Kean, Barbosa, Jovic, Bellotti etc. Most have been discussed on here already but are there any others that may interest us?

I picked up a bargain last week. Someone local was selling some Nike Blazer Jumbo for £30 (new & boxed), as didn’t like them. Their JD Sport receipt was still in the box and they had paid £100 with a gift card at the start of the year. Didn’t even seem to have been tried on because the laces hadn’t been done up? Really comfy and quite light. I’m chuffed with them.

He was always going to go with Phillips and Rice together again.

10+ players...............is that their ages?
We won't be signing another 5 let alone 10
Totally agree. Another 2 or 3 of real quality at the most now I reckon.- 1

Premier League annual shirt sponsorship amounts for 2021/22:
Man City - £68m
Man Utd - £47m
Chelsea - £40m
Liverpool - £40m
Spurs - £40m
Arsenal - £40m
Leicester - £12m
Everton - £10m
West Ham - £10m
Brighton £8m
Wolves - £8m
Crystal Palace - £6.5m
Newcastle - £6.5m
Villa - £6m
The big 6 teams get more for their sleeve sponsorship than Villa get for their main sponsor.

Frightening. So hard to compete with the big six. -

I do, however think there's something dodgy with his ownership.
To sign for Everton, perform awfully and somehow get loan moves to PSG and Juve is bloody weird. How often do either of those clubs loan players? And if they do loans, how often are they failed strikers from midtable Prem clubs?
If this somehow happens, it matches nothing of the strategy of the club and there'll be a dodgy agent behind it imo. (I.e. Everton favourite, Kia Joorabchian)
I agree on this. -

Moise Kean 2 Premier League goals in 32 games
Davis 1 Premier League goal in 34 games
Not really seeing the clearer upgrade not to mention Davis offers more on and off the ball
I honestly can’t see Davis playing for PSG or Juventus anytime soon, so the upgrade is clear to see. -

You think he'd start next season ahead of Ings or Watkins?
Nope! But would be a useful option off the bench and cover for injuries etc. -
3 minutes ago, villa4europe said:
But at the same time he's clearly not the answer, we'll have replaced our 3rd/4th choice striker for a 3rd/4th choice striker, spending £15-20m in the process
Kean would be a pointless signing
I completely disagree. Kean is only 22, has time on his side to improve and would offer us something I’m sure. -
If we do sell Davis to Forest or whoever and replace him with Kean, it’s clearly an upgrade and Kean is two years younger.

Don’t think Foden has played any minutes at all, so perhaps not fit? I guess he needed to take a look at Bowen after the season he’s had but he doesn’t look good enough for a World Cup squad.
