  1. There is never a game where I’d be happy Villa losing just so it helps someone else. If we beat Burnley tonight and they go down at the weekend, then so be it.

I’d rather Leeds or Everton go but hey ho.

I could see it happening. It would be strength in depth but would he be an improvement?

I don’t think he would be an upgrade on Konsa or Chambers from what I’ve seen but Gerrard has worked with him, so he’ll know better than most if he’s worth it.

  3. Don’t be surprised if we take Connor Goldson on a free this summer. With Konsa injured until September, no one will take him and that only leaves us with Chambers as right CB.

We may put a lot of our money into sorting the midfield, so wouldn’t rule this one out as an option.

Connor is a local lad and is desperate to return closer to the Midlands. I see his dad occasionally and several Midlands clubs have shown interest in him previously.

Out of the current squad, which players do you think Gerrard sees as starting eleven for him next season? I think he's probably happy to start:

Martinez, Cash, Digne, McGinn, Ramsey, Coutinho and, Watkins.

I think that he will consider two new centre backs, a defensive midfielder and another striker as his priority signings - all to go into the starting lineup.

Honestly can’t see him upgrading on Mings this summer and I think he’ll perhaps try and get Buendia/Coutinho in the side together more next season.

I hope we don't sign Tarkowski, he has non existent passing stats. Worst than even Konsa.

Nathan Collins would be a better option to consider if they went down.

Isn’t Tarkowski on a free this summer? Got Newcastle written all over it probably.

I got to have a close look at the Swatch Omega today.  I was disappointed because the watch looks like its designed to be disposable.

The battery is replaced by a small hatch in the watch back.  But that's the only way to access the inside of the watch.  It looks like the watch body and back is actually one piece of plastic. The movement must have been inserted from the front if the watch and then sealed into the watch body.

That would make it impossible to repair the watch movement without significant damage to the watch body.  It does have a 2 year warranty.  But £207 for a watch that might only last 2 years seems a rip off.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m not sure if I even like the look of any of them? Dare I say it, they look a little on the cheap side.  They seem very popular though, so I’m obviously in the minority.

This 100%...  I remember an interview with Grealish the season Targett joined.  Jack said something about Terry joining the boys for training matches when they're shorthanded during International breaks and how he is still a great player in his retirement.  He also said something about Targett confiding in him that "They spent 13 million pounds on me and Terry makes me feel like I'm a Sunday league player!"  No self confidence at all and it shows in his play.  If he makes an early mistake, he can't recover, especially when the crowd gets on him.

Confidence is definitely key with him. He was a far better player when no fans were in the ground during Covid.

    Digne is such an upgrade.

  8. Not sure if this is the right place to post or if I can call it a “good” TV drama but did anyone watch Floodlights (BBC2) last night?

Pretty gut-wrenching to be honest and at times an uncomfortable watch. Just shouldn’t have been allowed to happen.

  9.

Our last home game of the season against a horrible team fighting for their lives. Under the lights we usually do well, especially against teams below us and this should be no different. An early goal for us should make the game open because they’ll want to keep it tight and not concede as a point is probably a good result for them.

A couple of changes would be good to keep some fresh for Sunday. Whether it’s 4-3-2-1 or 4-1-3-2, I’d like to see Coutinho and Buendia back together. Ramsey also needs a start. Ings, McGinn and Luiz probably deserve a rest, with Carney also coming in. Another hour out of Nakamba in preparation for the battle on Sunday, then bring Iroegbunam on.

                                                      Martinez

                     Cash         Chambers          Mings          Digne

                                                     Nakamba

                                    Carney                          Ramsey

                                          Buendia       Coutinho

                                                      Watkins

Subs: Olsen, Feeney, Young, Iroegbunam, Sanson, McGinn, Luiz, Traore, Ings.

Going to say a 2-1 win.

  10. Generally interested to know, if we can get two midfielders in this summer, who would people like to see us sign and why?

I still like the look of Bissouma and Phillips. Those two in a double holding pivot with three players in front and one striker would be magic in my opinion.

I do struggle with some of the popular names across Europe, purely because I’ve hardly seen them play.

People just like to moan in general nowadays about everything.

So this forum is definitely an outlier.  I guess because the extreme negative minority shout louder than those who are happy.

Spot on and it’s a true reflection of life around us. We’re a complain and “I want compensation” society.

Eating a meal out for example, enjoy it and go away happy but probably don’t say anything or tip.  Don’t enjoy it, people complain and want something free or money off.

Back to topic, I also like a lot of what I see and hear around Villa at the moment.

I don't understand why so many here are high on him, and I wonder if it's nothing more than just not seeing him play enough to not like him! 😂

But since coming to Villa he has played 650 minutes in the Premier League and has not managed a single shot on target. He's averaged 0.97 shot creating actions per 90 over two seasons and 0.76 this season. That's basically the same output to the attack Tyrone Mings has had. Defensively, he's offered little.

agree, really don’t understand the obsession about him and needing to play games? Smith and Gerrard haven’t given him games for whatever reason but perhaps they don’t see enough application in training?
