So looking forward to this as it’s been such a long time since I last watched a game at Villa Park. My 12 year old boy is coming to his first ever game and he’s counting down the hours! Holte End tickets and we’re arriving early to cheer the players coach and take in the atmosphere.
Chelsea are pretty much Palmer FC regardless of what Poch says. They were dreadful midweek and will be wanting a reaction. However, they’re a young side and tend to play as individuals, but our cup game against them showed that they can turn it on when the going is good.
I do think we can win and quite well if we get into them early and get a goal or two before the break. Can’t see many changes but I would start Luiz, alongside McGinn and Tielemans. Bailey could well be nursing his knee still and may well start on the bench but hopefully he’ll start:
……………...….Martinez…………………..
Cash…..Konsa……Pau…..Digne
………Tielemans……..Luiz……….
Bailey..…….McGinn….….Rogers
………………..…Watkins….……………..
Subs: Olsen, KKH, Munroe, Carlos, Lenglet, Chambers, Zaniolo, Diaby, Duran
Harsh on Diaby I suppose but can’t see Emery starting just two in midfield against Chelsea. No idea if Zaniolo is fit for the bench but if not I guess Kellyman will take his place.
Going for another 3-1 home win and Watkins to reach his 20 Premier League goals tally. UTV

Thanks again everyone, some really good suggestions. I’m aiming to get close by early, so will go for one of the options suggested
Got one very excited boy that’s counting down the days!

Mrs F will be pleased that I can start using the toilet again, rather than the mattress.

Was talking to my dad about him the other day and we were thinking of other clubs that would possibly interest him? Not many I imagine.
Would the Spanish national team interest him at some point?

Best news of the season so far! I honestly wouldn’t swap Emery for any other manager/coach.

Cheers all, I’ll see what the weather is like on the day and what kind of mood my lad is in, and if he’s up for walking

Only a short update today but it's always nice to add another three points to our PPG tracker which now sees us on course to land 73/74 points.
I could definitely see a world in which we get 8 points from our next 4 games in line with our projection but I'd be absolutely stunned if Spurs picked up 11. If they did, and we failed to pick up the points needed to overtake them (6), then they'd certainly be the more deserving team. It's going to be a hell of a run-in.
Many thanks for this. I still find it incredible that we have lost to Newcastle twice and Man United twice this season but still 16 points ahead of both. I can see us getting another 5 or 6 points in our remaining games, making 4th place ours.- 1

Star City is fine. Plenty of spaces available so just up to whether you fancy a 20 minute walk or not. Also can get back on the M6 at Castle Brom if you're going South rather than wait for ages attempting to join it at the Spaghetti junction.
A little closer and the Aston Powerleague has parking but think there's frequent complaints about the junction lights so you could be waiting to get out of it for a fair bit after the match.
Cheers Chris, probably just go with Star City then

Isn't that basically what they're doing as part of this 3,000 extra seats plan? Sure I read that somewhere.
No idea and hadn’t seen anything official re that area. Many thanks for confirming though if that’s the case -
Probably a no go but couldn’t we join up the bottom tier to the middle tier by filling in the walkway and adding additional rows/seats? Basically making one large lower tier. Does the walkway have to remain for health and safety reasons?

Going to this with my son and it’s been a long time since I’ve been. My lad is only 12 and it’s his first ever game!
I’ve decided to drive and will be getting off the motorway next to Star City but unsure where to park? Is it best/safest to park on Star City and walk over or can I get closer and park somewhere better? Just thinking of the finish time and if my son starts moaning at the distance.
Many thanks

Emery in his presser saying that even the club are currently unsure if Martinez can play in the next round? Bit of a farce really.
It’s not exactly 100 per cent he’s not going to be for the next round, available to play.
“In the beginning I think it’s not, but we are in conversations with UEFA about it.
edit - looks like he’s banned for the first leg! Gutting

Well if Emery, Villa and UEFA don't know what the hell is going on, then we have no chance!
Yep, bit of a farce really. -
Sounds like no further injuries from last night, which includes Zaniolo.

I don't think they're as good as Lille. I remember last season though the third place Europa teams seemed to go a lot further in the conference?
I notice Podence plays for them now. He was a bit of a pain for us when playing for Wolves. No idea if he’s fit or how he’s been doing though.

No doubt already been posted so apologies, but will our European run generate much additional income this season, especially if we win it?
We’ll again have some form of European football next season also, so was wondering what UEFA competitions generate overall per season?

That would have calmed the situation
I’d have no issue with him facing those ultras and dancing around.
